The food was great. The service was awesome. We would recommend this place to anyone.
My husband and I just left there...I had a bowl of the best chicken & sausage gumbo...some boudan balls..fried green tomatoes topped with caramelized onion & crab meat...and he had bbq shrimp..
We are very pleased...oh..and fried cheesecake to go!!
My first visit to this location. I had excellent service from Abi. The patio was nice. It did get a little loud for my taste, but wasn't too bad.
I love this place! I wouldn't consider it "authentic" but the food is always fresh and has great flavor. I love their fried pickles, cheese grits, and Melvin's Chicken. I can't comment on other dishes as I do not eat fish or seafood. The service is generally good as well.
Delicious bread, great gumbo. Love the poboys. The french bread they use is the very good. Chicken and sausage gumbo also gets an A plus.
Yum!. The only problem with Cajun Steamer is the lack of consistency with the spice level. You may have noticed that half the reviews call the food too bland, and the other half say it's too spicy. I have an idea it's different chefs creating those different impressions. I tend to stick to my favorite dishes here since we don't go that often, and sometimes they're very spicy, and sometimes not. Always good, though. (I love the chicken & sausage gumbo, the Voodoo Chicken, and the fried pickles.)
Ignore the low score!. This place is great. I have been here several times. It is not the same food you get in Louisiana exactly, but it is close. The food is on the spicy side, so be cautious. The only complaint is that it is loud in there. The prices are reasonable, and the service great.
We like it mostly because we get to sit outside and service is usually pretty good. We ordered the fried boudin balls for our appetizer and they were delicious. I got the cold peel and eat shrimp. I was disappointed that there wasn't more shrimp. I asked for just potatoes because the corn makes me cry. It sits in that spice mixture all day long and its just too hot for me. I've had the crawfish before and I loved them. It's a great hangout, after work place.
Something Different. Haven't had Cajun before so don't really have anything to compare it to. I will say, however, that my appetizer was GREAT!! Definitely would get the crawfish enchiladas again. Probably would skip the crab cake sandwhich entree, though; not a whole lot going on with that dish.
Comfortable Setting. I was worried when I saw three hostesses when I entered as this is usually a sign that you will wait while they talk to each other. But we were seated quickly. Great waitress. Food was unnecessarily hot. Hot covers flavor or the lack thereof.
A little pricy. Bland food experience cancelled by comfortable seating. All in all ok but not great.

Great Food. Don't understand the low score on here. Ate their friday Night and evrything EXCEPT for the Crab and Corn bisque was fantastic (it was way too sweet). The Flounder Roulade was amazing, Cochon and Grits was delicious. Fried Okra, Sausage and Red Beans, and Fried Crab Claws were all excellent. skip the side salad. Our waitress, however, had the personality of a rock.
Absolutely love this place. The chargrilled oysters are so delicious. My favorite dish is the Diablo Shrimp Pasta. Spicy and very flavorful. My favorite appetizers are the fried green tomatoes and the calamari.
This was my third time eating at this particular Cajun Steamer, and it’s been consistently good every time. Service was polite, and food was delicious. Outdoor and indoor seating is available. I got the crawfish etouffee and seafood gumbo, and my mom got the Redfish Rockefeller. We also ordered the seafood dip which was so delicious I forgot to get a picture!
My husband and I went for dinner last night. We both were blown away. He had the Voodoo chicken and I had the catfish Pontchartrain, the food was beyond amazing. We had the beignets and bread pudding for dessert and both were outstanding as well. The service was some of the best we’ve ever had, Destiny took great care of us. I’ll definitely be back and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone. I would give it ten stars if that were an option!
