Cantrell Seafood

I've gotten seafood at Cantrell's in Topsham a few times now. I've never had a bad experience. On Saturday I shopped around for lobsters and Cantrell's had the best price at $7.99/lb so I stopped in and got a half dozen chicks, while there I saw that they had fresh haddock at $9.99/lb, so I asked the nice girl for a fillet. She was very attentive. I liked that she drained the lobsters before putting them on the scale and then she picked out a nice thick fillet of haddock for me. I brought everything home and the lobsters were fresh and full of that sweet soft shell goodness. I broiled the haddock the next night and it came out fantastic, just a great fresh slice of heaven. I am very grateful for Cantrell's. When the young man has waited on me in the past he was attentive and knowledgeable and the young women was the same, very nice and helpful. I do live in the area so I see activity around the seafood market and the fishermen always seem pleasant dropping off their catch, the service is great and the selection is pretty good as well. The prices are decent but certain things can fluctuate, like the crabmeat is at $19.99 where you might find it for a buck or two less if you shop around, but where I've seen lobster meat at $65/lb, Cantrells has it around $55/lb so as a general rule the prices are quite competitive and you can't beat the freshness of the seafood. I will say that I have never been disappointed by anything that I have purchased at Cantrell Seafood and they are my first place to check out. Good service, friendly people and fresh seafood at good prices.

Today I stopped by the store to share a minor issue I had with frozen lobster purchase. Basically before I finished talking, I was told that they would give me the equivalent fresh lobster to apologize for the issue. Excellent listening and excellent immediate action taken. Thank you so much. This outstanding customer service is why I'll continue to satisfy my seafood appetite with you. TY!

July 21, 2021 - News flash . . . Cantrell’s sells SEAFOOD 🦞! Scott Cantrell started selling seafood in 1983, now his son Andy operates the Topsham store, with several of their trucks going out to Winslow, Oxford, Newport, and Jay ( Maine). I rate this good operation a solid 4.5 ! They were out of the soft shell lobsters, but I still enjoyed my hard shell lobsters just the same. . . Good service, thanks Morgan! They charge an extra $1 a pound to steam the lobsters, then pack in a steam bag to take home and make your own lobster rolls! Which I did! They sell other seafood items as well: Alaskan King Crab legs Oysters Mussels Salmon Maine Crabs 🦀 Canadian Shrimp meat Scallops Trout ( and more) As for the prices, seafood is more expensive than chicken ! As climate change impacts the coastline environment, warming water temperatures. . . Fish move further away, thus reduced “ fish catches” in our area. Maine is known for their Lobster Roll ! 🦞🦞 ( Make your own) Step 1 . . . cook/steam your lobster Step 2 . . . Shuck your lobster Step 3 . . . Melt some butter in sauce pot Step 4 . . . Cut lobster meat into chunks Step 5 . . . Place lobster in melting butter Step 6 . . . Cut sub roll, butter w/ brush ( inside and top of roll) Step 7 . . . Broil sub roll, to brown color Step 6 . . . Load up sub roll with lobster ENJOY ! 🦞🦞🦞🦞

I was nervous (even skeptical) about shipping lobsters and steamers to west cost, but it was for a birthday so had to try. I am happy to report this was a great experience, the lobsters and seafood was superb, everything was fresh. Lobsters were all alive, steamers muscles were not broken and they were fresh as well. Being from Maine, we know what fresh seafood is, and not rating as folks that never had a real fresh Maine lobster. I am so happy with Cantrell's Seafood that will definitely do this again. Thanks guys, it was even better than what you promised!
