The workers here are impolite on their best day. Impatient with you while taking orders, and their lack of care is evident too. I received my order in the drive-thru and was handed a container with a hole burnt out on the side. I asked for a new one, as I didn’t want my food falling out. The cashier ducked away from the window and pretended to do as I asked, then turned around and handed me the exact same container. It’s not hard to do the job you’re paid to do. Also to add, I’m lead to believe the Cookout sauce I was given tonight went bad at some point in the restaurant. My boyfriend starting eating it, noticed it smelled bad and tasted off, then proceeded to vomit profusely. Just noticed after finishing the majority of my food, there’s a hair in it. Thank you for the wonderful experience.

We really like going to this cookout. The only complaint I have on this day is they forgot part of my order. So I walked to the window and ordered more food and also told them about the missing food. They again forgot the same food that was missing from before so twice they forgot my cheesy bites. But they food was awesome and hot.

Typical Cook Out. Very clean and modern looking. Very fast drive thru. 40 different flavors of milkshakes with special flavors offered at certain times. Always great customer service with a smile and a thank you. Great prices on Great food. Love the double drive thru! Easily accessible with small parking lot.

Your restaurant in Newport News has the worst counter service I have ever experienced. Only do the people that work here care less as to whether they wait on you or not but they treat you with barely a simple look or word. They're out back they're not monitoring the front so you stand at the counter waiting to order and then when you finally do get your order they treat you like your interfering in they're socializing with their co-workers. I got half my order went to go get the rest of my order because they didn't serve it to me and when I came back because it's raining outside one of your windows is leaving very badly and so I moved to another bench but I don't think the AC is working inside so I'm going to my car to eat!

The service has been declining for a while now but today has been a new level of pathetic. The order taker was rude over the intercom. Both girls taking turns at the window were rude. Both of these are behavioral problems I expect from the kids up there these days. (Meanwhile they want 15 bucks an hour for a task a monkey could do).
Today they stepped up the level of worthless by getting all 5 of the trays we ordered wrong on some level. Wrong sides, two completely incorrect main dish, all condiments were wrong. Chicken quesadillas with sauce and no chicken or cheese. Give me a break. That is intentional, nobody can be that worthless. They need to return to hiring adults because these kids are pathetic.

Cook Out has good shakes... LOTS of choices, but don't expect a shake that you can drink with a straw.
Their sandwiches are good, and service is usually too.
