Old Jody's Restaurant

First time eating here and we had a lovely lunch. When we walked in it was busy and luckily we found a table, but we noticed that everyone just sits with one another until the tables fill up. I thought that was nice because it makes you feel like you’re one big family. I got the chicken fried steak and my husband got a Jody’s burger. It was delicious, and those rolls are the best I’ve ever had!! I would recommend this place to everyone and we will be back again! Also thank you to the staff for being welcoming and friendly. :)

Old Jody is a solid burger and steak independently owned restaurant. Service was fine if a bit hurried. The menu has a nice mix of burgers, steaks, even seafood. I was not in a burger mood so I had popcorn shrimp which was fine if not spectacular. I suspect that burgers and steaks might be more their focus. I reserve fives for truly spectacular and enjoyable places. If I lived locally I would probably eat here periodically just for variety. If you were looking for something different than the standard corporate owned restaurants give Old Jody's a try.

Old Judy’s Restaurant is a staple in Temple! It feels like the equivalent of a Cheers bar but for food. I can’t believe I hadn’t been before. The servers have been there for a long time and are great ladies. I got the chicken fried chicken which was pretty good. I think I’d get a burger next time because I saw lots of them coming off the grill. Thanks Old Judy’s!!

The only problem we ever have is deciding what to eat! Joey has carried on his father's (the original Jody) and mother's tradition of serving fantastic food at a reasonable price. You can have Joey's Signature Burger; the Chicken Fried Chicken; Fried Fish (my husband enjoys the Chili Cheese Fries); and my personal favorite ..the Chicken Fried Steak with fried okra and a loaded baked potato. If you choose this one be prepared to get a "doggy bag". Not to worry though...If this is too much "Fried" for ya, I've been known to get a grilled cheese with pickles on the sandwich and of course "fries"! The menu has Chef Salad for lightweights, and there again, you'll probably need the server to bring you a container for later because it's a Big Salad. Recently, a drive thru window was added (I like this because I can call my order in, and pick it up on the way home). I have even ordered at the window, parked in Joey's new parking lot behind the restaurant and in no time all, one of the employees shows up at MY window with my accurate order, delivered with a smile 😃. Joey and his crew continue to honor the decades of this family owned business known as The Old Jody's! I am getting on up in age, and I have seen restaurants come and go. l believe this one is still very popular because of the great food, its consistency, and the friendly staff.

The chicken fried steak was terrible. It was under cooked, soggy, and had no seasoning on it. Fries were soggy as well. The service was very poor. Our server never came by to check on us. I spoke to the manager regarding the food and service and she did not care as well. Very disappointed and will not be going back.
