I tried the Frito pie (not pictured), which was good.. Not spicy or anything.. But good! The nacho platter was pretty good.. Not amazing, but it was good.. The tortilla soup was ehh.. It was spicy and had a good flavor, but it was basically a heated up can of rotel with a few pieces of corn thrown in. Good flavor, but not what I was hoping for or expecting.

This is the place for one of the most amazing rellenos I have ever had. Order the "stealth.". It's not on the menu, but the relleno cooked in mole sauce took me to another level of food appreciation.

It's right at the base of the mountain with great views, good food, and a great drink selection. The prices are decent (especially for a ski resort). The food is primarily New Mexican style food as well as burgers, sandwiches, etc. We all enjoyed our food and I'm sure we will try it again next time we are there skiing. I think it would especially be a fun spot for grabbing a drink and food after a long day on the slopes!

There must be a story to the name, "Tim's Stray Dog Cantina," but I don't know what it might be. The congenial restaurant in Taos Ski Valley's tiny commercial core was owned for 20 years by Todd and Summer Harter. It has long been a popular hangout for visitors and locals. They happily dig into generous servings of the northern New Mexico version of the culinary style that many people (OK, many Anglos) lump under the category of "Mexican." It is a daytime and early-evening place that closes at 9:00 p.m., but then again, Taos Ski Valley has never been a place for night crawlers. Two years ago, four partners with great credibility in the area - Marcus Aragon, Tori Mendes, Rachele Griego and Rick Trujillo - bought the cantina. Aragon ad Mendes are (or were) part owners or in some way involved with of Santa Fe's legendary Coyote Café. The cantina is u

I lived in Taos for 20 years now and a lot has changed. Tim's Stray Dog Cantina is one thing that really hasn't. The original owner Tim, who passed in a skiing accident seemed to make people even more determined to keep the place thriving. The staff and management have continued Tim's tradition of making fantastic red and green chile, as well as top-notch burgers. However, where "The Stray Dog" really shines is in its down-to-earth staff. No matter how slammed the place is they seem to get you what you order quickly and in good spirits. When they get a cider on tap I'll raise my rating to five stars.

We had a great time sitting outside enjoying the weather. The staff was really friendly and the food was great. I loved my prickly pear margarita.

We've been coming to Tim's for years and have always had great food. This year was no exception. The food is great, service is fast and efficient but sometimes a bit rude.

I am a regular customer here for breakfast. Not only do they have the best breakfast on the mountain but the staff and the atmosphere are so inviting and comfortable. The last few visits Gary has taken care of us, it’s very disheartening to read anything but good things, he’s always been very friendly and accommodating to us. I have always had a good experience here I would recommend this place to anyone that’s wants an authentic New Mexican meal. Never disappoints.

Ate there twice last week. First night, female waitress more interested in bar patrons than us. Second night, guy tending bar and waiting tables was outstanding, attentive, and eager to talk about the dishes offered. Food far better than expected. Soup, combo plate, green chile burgers all rate with the best in Taos. Would go back again and do recommend.

We were up for the weekend my son and me stopped to have a few beers and check out the place before deciding on a place for dinner, a young lady waited on us she was very nice had a few beers asked about dinner for 9 people around 7/730 pm and if reservations were needed she said its best, but would accommodate us and they did. The service was good and the food was great. Friendly and pretty fast considering there were 9 in my family. Some reviews are critical but we did not experience anything but great service and food, thank you. Campbell family Rio Rancho, NM July-14-17

We have been to TSV twice in the last month as a family of 4. Both times we have eaten at the Stray Dog Cantina and have been impressed with both the customer service and the taste of the food. We have had the Chile relleno plate with chicken enchilada and the green Chile stew. Both packed great flavor. The staff were friendly and easy to talk to. We would recommend the food to anyone in the area!

Fantastic. Loved the venue. Great attentive service. Good food and drink in a non-pretentious setting. Cheap and cheerful food and drink with a smile for two sweaty bikers mid way through an all day northern NM ride. Would go back any chance I get. Bloody Maria highly recommended.
