Saw a lot of people here one day when I drove by so I thought I would give it a try. I saw where they had chicken wings - haven’t found a super good place for wings in Tampa. I got six with Carolina BBQ which were very tasty - I prefer mine wet and I got only what they were tossed in- that is my only complaint . The other six I got were medium heat which were perfect for me and they came wet - yeah. I also order onion rings which were ok would have been nice if they were beer battered ! But worked none the less as a side. My co-worker got garlic Parmesan which he loved - ate 12 and he got six of medium as well and liked those too. So it was a success and not a costly one either - liked that for sure.
Goood food, ok service. I really like going to Tates despite the fat you have to wait for service sometimes, ita a great local spot and and not one of those chains, My favorite is the Greek salad which can serve 4 ppl and my favorite pizza is the BBQ. keep up the good work
Delicious food, great service. This is our "go to" neighborhood spot, in spite of being in a building that really needs to be demolished and replaced. Quite honestly, the location next to a canal gives me the creeps...so I am just hoping that they keep the kitchen spotless and make sure there are no "visitors" of the crawling or creeping variety. The pizza is simply fantastic. The salad is simple but always very fresh. The servers are the same year after year...which says something very positive about working there. The beer is reasonably priced and cold. We can walk there, which is wonderful (but we argue over who has to carry the leftovers on the way home!). Good value, and not a chain restaurant...hooray for the small business owners!
We all have that one place close to home that we drive past daily with every intention of stopping in, but life gets in the way and it never happens. For this South Tampa girl, that place has been Tate’s Pizza Westshore . Formally known as The Galley Pizzeria, Tate’s Pizza took over about two years ago and has been pleasing locals with their hand-tossed pizza and pasta dishes. I used to be a regular at The Galley, especially on Sundays during football season. As a huge Steeler fan, I always enjoyed watching Steelers games there since they catered to both Steelers and Eagles fans. It was a great place to bring my kids and we would enjoy pizza and their popular Greek Salad while I got my football fix. I was sad to hear The Galley was closing, but when I learned that the owners of Tate’s were Steelers fans, I felt a little better. Excellent restaurant, food, portions, price, atmosphere, and did I say food🙃 I have been here several times now, and I have not been disappointed in anything that I have ordered.
Great spot with great food, and atmosphere. Great spot for Bubba Army, Football fans, Boxing fans, and race fans, and ex racers. If your luck you might meet some legendary players or racers. I love this place, ever time we are in Tampa we always go in there.
Service is quick and staff is very courteous. Outside deck is spacious and great for groups. Food is typical Italian fare, I had their tortellini and it was amazing!
Good reliable Pizza and Italian dishes. Feel good restaurant. Never disappoints.
The pizza is one of a kind. They have an awesome menu and the prices are pretty decent too. Make sure to check them out if you're in the area.
This place is awesome from the staffe to the owner and the people that hang out in the bar area. Food is wonderful.
I eat here maybe 3/4 times a month. I own a small business and am principally responsible for sales to residential and commercial properties in south Tampa. I have had almost everything on the lunch menu and everything I have had has been wonderful. What prompted me to write this review was the lasagna I had yesterday was terrific. Tates is clean, the staff are warm and friendly, the lunch portions are generous and the prices are more than fair.
My wife and I were visiting family in the area and this is their "place" they hang out and eat here all the time and they wanted to share it with is. What a fantastic place. Friendly staff and the food is phenomenal. Had a burger, wings, pizza, and steak sandwich on separate occasions. The steak was to die for, a truly unbelievable sandwich. The parmie bites are awesome. The whole place is without a doubt one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. Will go back as soon as I get back to Florida!! 15 out of 10 would recommend.
A group of friends and I were looking for something to eat that was a little special and very cozy. We got that anymore. Two friends ordered pizzas and absolutely love them. My other friends, who is quite the sizable guy, order the calzone and commented on how it was the best one he's ever had. He was satisfied as well. I have the lasagna, and was surprised at how spicy it was, in the best of ways. This place was fantastic, and the staff was nothing but amazing.
Love this laid back place. Casual enough that it doesn't feel uptight but you can still do a date night and not feel cheep. Staff are friendly food is great and the prices are actually reasonable! There's also a bar on one side with bar seayring as well as booth seating. On the other side is a larger seating area as well as a beautiful outdoor seating option when the weather permits. My fav meal is the wings and Greek salad. Kids love the baked pastas and the pizza is good as well.
