Amazing food - our table had an early Sunday dinner and started with 3 tropical mules. Not that notable but ok. We also got the Chèvre cheese / bread for an appetizer...surprisingly really awesome!!! A lot of flavor and perfect blend. We all commented that we didn't realize that we were that hungry until we tasted that. Our table got Blackened fish tacos which tasted perfect; I got Gumbo - reallyyyyyy tasty and true to a Southern Louisiana style. Good sized portion too. The best at the table was the meatloaf!!! Omg!!! Get this if you go - full of flavor, cooked to perfection. This is something you'd get as a go to if you are a regular!! Better than anyone's grandma used to make. Lol
After a day at the zoo, I took my family for an early dinner at the Front Porch Grille in an attempt to get a change from the same old chain restaurants. I was overall very pleased with the meal. I like the simple cozy atmosphere and the food was very good. I had a 14 oz sirloin with a gorgonzola cheese crust that was cooked to a perfect medium rare and was delicious. The eggplant and spinach sides that accompanied it were also quite good though the spinach was a bit over salted. My wife enjoyed her baja fish tacos as well.
The service was good, though a little slow at times. I would also suggest that they ask before bring the kids food out in advance. We like to all eat at the same time and by the time my wife and I got our food, my boys were done.
Overall we really enjoyed the Front Porch Grille and would certainly go back.
Went before a hockey game and was our first visit. Was pleasantly surprised. At first menu didn't quite stand out as this is going to be awesome, but when we got our food, we were pleasantly surprised how good the food was. Ordered brisket and cheddar sandwich with fries. Very tasty. Fries are fresh cut and could have gotten another order of them. Also had the chicken Thai flat bread. Not sure it reminded me of Thai but it was good. Ended with the banana heaven. Let's just say it was heavenly. Will go back.
Solid, good food. This place has improved quite a bit over the years. I used to come just for drinks and appetizers, but they've improved their menu and service. Love it! It's basic american fare but it's always good. I love the vegetarian ravioli and lasagna, the calamari is great too!

First time but not our last!!!. After visiting Urban Spoon and seeing reviews for the great Banana Heaven we decided to visit the Front Porch for the first time Saturday 8/3. Upon arriving we were greeted with a friendly smile of one of the staff members. We told her it was our first time and she sat us at a table outside. She then proceeded to tell us about the place. How long they had been open, the Barts Taven, when they had karaoke, live bands etc... She then went on to describe the menu. Let me say we came for desserts but we are so excited to come back and try one of the lovely suggestions she made. She then told told us one of us will be right with you. She then returned to inform us she would be our server. We were excited because she was just so friendly. We ended up getting coffee and desserts. We got the Banana heaven, the chocolate cake and the caramel apple pie. They were all amazing. The service continued to be amazing. We will definitely be coming back for food soon. We will also be asking for our server Casey.
Banana Heaven!. Love this place! I make the Front Porch one of my priority stops anytime I am in Tampa. The food is fantastic and the "Front Porch" reminds me of sitting on my grandmothers front porch when I was young. If you have not tried Bart's Tavern (a new outside addition), it's the best outside spot I have been to in a long time. Built around the natural ambience of the house. The pasta's are to die for and the Banana Heaven dessert is worth a visit by itself. Do yourself a favor and pay this place a visit, you won't regret it!
Local hangout. This place is always a hoot. It takes the kitchen FOREVER to prepare the food. The meal is ALWAYS missing an ingredient. And sometimes it just doesn't turn out right. But because of its loyal customer base and the friendly staff, I always go back. I just make sure I have the time to sit around and wait forever, and remember not to take out the kitchen's mistakes on the server. My favorite dishes are the Southern Mahi-Mahi and Escargot.
Decent, but there are better local establishments. I voted "liked it", because my wife and I have been to Front Porch several times. The food is a little hit & miss, especially for the prices. Some entres are pretty good, but others, especially the steak my wife ordered once, are not so good. My wife and I are serious beer people (no, Bud, Bud Light, etc. doesn't qualify as "beer" to us), and i have to say that the beer selection seems to be pretty limited, but I can deal with that. The positives are that I like the atmosphere, the employees seem friendly enough and it's close to my house. I would suggest trying the Refinery or The Independent on the opposite side of Hillsborough Ave., but Front Porch is worth a try.
Great food and service. This is a must to try as we were surprised at how neat this old house was. We had the Pot Roast, Mahi, Chicken Chevre and Fish n Chips. We licked our plates and brought some home for later. We will be back to try other items on the menu which has a huge selection.

The menu is extensive; if the rest of the entrees and desserts are as delicious as mine were, you will have a meal to remember! Only negative: the house white wine, a Chardonnay, was rather watery and tasteless.
Let's start with the positives! Very friendly staff, food was good, drinks were OK, decent parking.
Not sure if we were there at an off time but it was not busy, yet we waited a long time for everything - for the host, for a server, for our drinks and a very long time for our food because they forgot to put in the order...it happens, and I appreciate the honesty, but I'd been wanting to go here for awhile and was a bit disappointed.

A great comfort food spot! Very laid back vibes, this former house turned restaurant/bar is really a cool spot. It’s not fancy, but it’s very home-y and friendly. There’s limited indoor seating and plenty of nice outdoor seating on the front porch so I recommend coming when the weather is nice so you can sit outside.
The menu has a lot of variety with most entrees at or around the $15-20 mark which is good considering how much food it comes with. They have drink specials everyday and food specials most days too (mimosa’s $3 on Sunday).
The meatloaf is my favorite in Tampa. Can’t go wrong with most their menu items.

A Perfect Sunday Brunch at Front Porch & Barns Tavern 😊
My husband and I had an outstanding brunch experience at Front Porch & Barns Tavern this past Sunday. Dottie, our server, added an extra layer of enjoyment with her excellent service. The special $3.50 mimosas were a delightful touch, setting the tone for a great meal.
I opted for the Porch Bowl, a harmonious blend of home fries, eggs, hollandaise, and sausage links. Each element was perfectly cooked, creating a symphony of flavors on my plate. Meanwhile, my husband indulged in the Huevos Rancheros—a culinary masterpiece featuring eggs, corn tortillas, queso fresco, and black beans. It was nothing short of amazing!
The ambiance was exactly what we were looking for, with vibes that exceeded our expectations. The fall Florida weather at 76 degrees made our porch dining experience even more memorable. It was the perfect setting to savor a delicious breakfast.

I enjoyed the food; it was filling. I got the Egg whites with goat cheese, the potato cakes, and Canadian bacon and added a flavored pancake (slices of banana) to the side.
We also had calamari as an appetizer, one of the best I've had here in Tampa; it wasn't just a greasy mess like the others.
I wanted to sit outside, but it was hot, and the fans on the porch were too weak. They could add a few rotating fans to the corners of the ceilings.
Our waitress Dotty was great!
I love this spot cus of its front porch (duh) but this was not my fav Bloody Mary for sure. The food was super yummy though!!! Would and will come back
We frequent here for brunch quite often and it's always lovely! This past weekend, we had a party of 4 and Maddie absolutely killed it. She was on top of our needs and friendly and just so personable. Honestly, she's one of the best servers I've had in a long time. There isn't a single thing on the menu I wouldn't recommend.

Fun neighborhood restaurant that has character and quirkiness that is a delight. Lots of different seating options from the porch, to the patio to inside. We sit on the patio on a beautiful morning and had a wonderful experience. Servers are nice and friendly. The menu has some great options. I ordered the Benedict scrambled and loved it. Really wish this was on the border to my neighborhood, I would walk here every weekend.
We go regularly. Good has not let us down. Service is good if not slammed busy. Atmosphere outside is very nice. Inside a little dingy and loud. But I over look not since it's a very old house. The outside tavern no one ever has come up to us to see if we want a drink. But love sitting out there when a band is playing
Right had the most amazing time ate friends and myself went and enjoyed some time on the front porch. The vibes were amazing. The drinks were so good we got the white sangria and everyone loved their food. The Tuscan ravioli was amazing. I wouldn’t recommend getting the chicken with it, but next time I want to try the basa. Diapers were amazing and i give a 10 out of 10
