My first visit to "Japanese Kitchen Dosunko," on a Friday afternoon, circa 1230 hrs. Immediately were able to get two seats at the kitchen bar, closest to the open air kitchen. The place was full of customers, and they continued to fill the place throughout the entire time I was there, very popular.
Tried two items, the Dosunco karagi (Japanese fried chicken) and the Dosunco ramen. Both very well made and tasty. The Japanese fried chicken was lightly dusted, krispy and tasty. The dosunko ramen was a tasty product, the ground beef was a surprising and welcomed touch.
I look for my favorite type of ramen every time I visit a ramen place which is the tonkatsu ramen, unfortunately it is not available here. I am going to have to return to I Ai Sushi on Waters.
The service was horrible, mostly because they are understaffed. The main kitchen staff was working hard to deal with the kitchen, one individual dedicated to the dining room with the help of one main kitchen worker. I saw no help from the rear kitchen.
Overall prices is a bit on the high side. Tonkatsu ramen with slices of pork is $8.50 at "I Ai Sushi, " here in Dosunco, the most inexpensive ramen is $10.00 with an additional cost of $3.00 for pork slices.
My overall view of this restaurant is a positive. I would like to return to try other items on the menu. With time I hope the service will improve.

OMG Tampa has ramen finally again! I literally dream about ramen and no I don't mean the stuff you get in the grocery store. I have been waiting eagerly for Ichicoro to open in Seminole Heights and didn't even realize this place had opened a few months ago much closer to my house so I went immediately. They are definitely still new as service is very slow so I would recommend an appetizer while you wait for your soup. And it seems they ran out of ramen a bit after we ordered so they may still be getting used to working out all the kinks. We thought it was overall better than Nakaya which used to be in South Tampa but not as good as some of the ramen we have had in major cities. I'm very happy we finally have ramen back in Tampa and hope they stick around!

This new ramen shop is showing lots of promise and is a welcome addition to our city. I tried the Shoyu Ramen on my last visit and it was refreshing and affordable at $10 for a big gourmet ramen bowl. The restaurant gives you sporks that help chopstick impaired diners like myself.

The ingredients tasted great and the broth goes perfectly with the noodles although the broth by itself is a little salty due to the soy-base, just for your information. My friends udon noodles looked tempting and I'm thinking about getting a shrimp tempura udon next time.

The dining room could use some work as far as seat arrangements/efficiency and the turnaround time for ramen sent out can be improved, but for a new business that is paving the way for ramen in Tampa - I can be patient.

The appetizers are affordable at under $5 as is the sake with many prices at around $6. Complimentary barley tea is available which is a very Asian kind of drink, but anyone from Asia will appreciate the added item. The green tea mochi ice cream dessert was $2 and was delicious.

Parking is limited so try to carpool. I'm hoping the hours will be extended as business picks up as well. Ramen for lunch would be amazing.

I will definitely be back soon!

My appetite for authentic Japanese ramen has been left unsatisfied since 2011 when I visited Gaya-Gaya Ramen while I was living in Seoul, South Korea. Tampa flirted in the past with a number of ramen shops including Bokuchoi Ramen which failed at the University Mall food court and Nakaya Bistro which disappeared almost as quickly as it seemed to appear in South Tampa.

Dosunco in Tampa offers an outstanding culinary experience that goes beyond the ordinary. The carefully curated choices of Japanese beer and sake complement the flavors of their dishes, creating a well-rounded dining experience. I particularly love the bold and flavorful Spicy Dosunco Ramen – a definite highlight on the menu. What sets Dosunco apart is its inclusivity, offering delicious vegetarian options that don't compromise on taste. The attention to dietary preferences adds an extra layer of appeal to the restaurant. The attentive and friendly servers deserve special recognition. Their warmth enhances the overall dining ambiance, making the experience not just about the food but also about the hospitality. Dosunco has truly mastered the art of delivering a memorable dining experience, making it a top recommendation for anyone seeking quality ramen and more in Tampa.

This is highly debated as being one of the best ramen spots in Tampa - it was solid! I got the Spicy Dosunco Ramen - the broth had a lot of flavor and garlic (which I love)! It wasn’t too thick and it made for fantastic leftovers! I loved the texture of the noodles as well. Pork was amazingly tender! I enjoyed the bowl, but thought it could’ve been way more spicy, which is the only reason I’m docking off a star. The karaage app was also delicious! I will definitely be back!

Authentic Japanese ramen and drinks. The noodles have a little chew in it which is what makes it so good! They have a good selection of items including vegetarian options. The ramen is awesome but if you’re not feeling like a hot bowl of soup, try the hiyashi (chilled) ramen. It’s got a fresh sweet/ sour soy sauce taste and perfect for a hot summer day.

Review for takeout: 3.8 stars Fast service. Friendly staff at pickup. Ramen portion looks small in the container but it's definitely a full size. Broth was under salted. Eggs were much closer to hardboiled than jammy. I also paid $2.50 for extra eggs. The website is a little deceiving because it didn't say each bowl comes with only half an egg. Otherwise flavorful. 5 stars for perfectly cooked noodles.

Came here with a friend today and ordered spicy vegetable ramen and edamames. The ramen was perfect with the portions, I wish it was more spicier but it was very good. The edamame’s were salted perfectly. Service was great. Atmosphere was great as well; it wasn’t overly loud and obnoxious. Very calm vibe. Hope to come back again.

Solid ramen that’s among the best in Tampa / St Pete. The noodles are the best part and the egg is great as well. Their base broth is also tasty. Normally I always want extra spice their spicy options feel a bit oily to me. That hasn’t stopped me from coming back!

I honestly have nothing bad to say about this place. As soon as you enter you are greeted by pleasant staff. Wait time is short for your food. The gyoza is great with a small touch of crunch and amazing flavor. The spicy miso was delicious. The broth is so flavorful. The serving size is perfect. Prices are great compared to what you get. I would recommend everyone try this little place out.

Last week I tried their brothless ramen, paired with a Japanese beer! Their food is always delicious, great service and atmosphere! Totally recommend them!
