I love it & there special sauce with the Texas toast slamming I live in Maine, everytime I'm in Tallahassee I have to stop in Great food highly recommend...
Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Tally, some of the best food I've ever had.
So, my husband went to college in T Town. For years, he bragged about Guthrie's. Finally, got a chance to see for myself. They did not disappoint. Their chicken tenders were fresh and seasoned. The fries were too. Definitely on my favorite list now.
To me, Gunthries is a couple steps up from Zaxbys. Pretty much the same items but on a good day crunchier fries, juicier tenders and they definitely have a zestier sauce. Im also SUPER picky about coleslaw. Either a restaurant serves good coleslaw or its downright disgusting, no in between, and Gunthries has been one of the only places that serves coleslaw that I will actually shovel down. Theres been a couple instances where the chicken have been dry but when you catch them on a good day, boy does it make you forget any of the bad experiences.
Great chicken fingers and sauce. The coleslaw was fresh and tasted great. The fries were also fresh, seasoned perfectly, and crisp. The chicken was juicy, fresh made and ample in size. I was seriously full afterward. A bit of a wait in the drive through. The price is reasonable, I will defiantly go back.
Remodeled, Remade. The W Tennessee st store has been renovated, Been eating there since they opened, but had stopped for awhile
because it had just gotten nasty. But, they have fixed that and Happy Days are Here Again! Best Chicken Fingers Anywhere!
The New Location on Monroe is Great. I wasn't a fan of the Tennessee St. location since my college days. Dirty. Old. Surly service. But late at night, it worked. That all changed with the new location on North Monrore. Walk up and order at counter, name called, pick up gut-box. The chicken fingers were hot and fresh- and delicious. The sauce has always been killer too. I'd put them up there with Zaxby's as far as best chicken fingers.
We love this Guthrie's. I have never had a bad experience. The chicken fingers are always fresh from the fryer. I make a pilgrimage once a year from Tampa to Tallahassee just to get Guthrie's.. and than make a day of it. When I used to live there some people didn't like it, but I think it was because they didn't like fried food.. the sauce is great.. try this order.. "Gut box, no slaw, extra fry, extra finger, extra toast, extra sauce"
Very good. The chicken fingers are delicious!!
It's all about the gut sauce.. The chicken is amazing but the sauce is even better. Their secret sauce could never be replicated. Not living in Tallahassee has made me realize that.
Gut boxes are good!. The chicken fingers, fries and 2 extra sauces with 1 extra toast is my usual order. Always pleased. But usually take-out - the dining room is lacking.

Kids love chicken fingers and there is no shortage of spots to grab a box of the fried delights in the Capital City. On a drizzly Saturday with the start of FSU’s baseball game pushed back an around we made our way on W. Tennessee Street looking for a place to eat a pre-game lunch. Mason spotted Guthrie’s and asked if we could stop there for lunch. I was curious to see what changed following the restaurant’s update and agreed to his suggestion. After undergoing a thorough renovation Guthrie’s is once again open for business. The largest change is the way the restaurant looks both inside and out. Making our way inside we were greeted by bold gray stripes on the rear wall while a second was painted bright red. Booths are laid out in long rows and a line of hungry patrons stretched back from the cash register. When it was our turn to order I asked for a Gut Box, two snack boxes, and drinks including a cup of their sweet tea. Julia and Mason claimed a booth and together we waited for our lunches while talking about the upcoming Seminoles baseball game, Voltron, and what the world would be like if everything was the same color. I went through the drive thru and the service speed was reasonable. Customer service was friendly, however they handed me an incorrect order, fortunately I checked before leaving. The chicken fingers were decently sized, and the small order of crinkle cut fries was plentiful. Both tasted really good!
A drive thru with limited options but they are good at what they do: a gut box includes 5 chicken tenders, crinkle cut fries, coleslaw, and toast. It was delicious.
Married to a FAMU Alum so we had to stop by Guthrie's while in town. The Service was fast and friendly and the food was good and seasoned. Had a good experience, will probably be back before we leave
Delicious classic fried chicken fingers. In my opinion, the best in town! Especially paired with their classic sauce too.
Absolutely amazing. Their sauce is fantastic. It’s up there with Zax Sauce, and we believe it edges past Raising Cane’s Sauce. The tenders were crispy and delicious. The toast was pretty solid as well. The sauce literally makes everything taste amazing. Definitely try this place if you have never been. And check our YouTube page for a full review…@TheGrubGuys
The very best chicken fingers matched with the best sauce. The service and interior aren't outstanding, but you go here for 1 reason only... chicken fingers... and that is basically the only thing on the menu
They've just recently reclaimed the title on Tennessee street for best chicken after beating out California chicken . few blocks down the road. Raising Kane's is the next challenger but I have high confidence that the title will be defended upon the rival chicken places opening.
I am 6 for 6 right now on them getting my order WRONG! Best fried chicken out there though
As an Alumni of FAMU, I haven’t been in Tallahassee in over 15 years. Even after all this time, the traditional ‘gut box’ still tastes the same.
This food was so good. It was piping hot and cooked perfectly. I'll be back for another gut box.
