I love love love Black Dog! This is one of my favorite places in Tallahassee. It’s right next to Lake Ella so you can get coffee and walk around the lake. It’s also a nice place to study or read. There’s a lot of outdoor seating. Their drinks are great, currently they have a red latte made with Rooibos tea and it is amazing especially with lavender added. Cannot recommend this place enough.
Amazing location great service and the best vibes ever. They are accepting of everyone and even have a kids corner. It’s so cozy the pastries and ice cream is delicious the kombucha is delicious as is the coffee. I love this place.
Really enjoyed starting my Saturday at Black Dog. Great atmosphere and terrific coffee. Loved the view and walk around the lake.
For 20+ years love this place and the always perfect coffee. Today's everything bagel and avocado were perfect, especially the toasted bagel. Here has most local feel of any place. I like they promote sustainable products. I was disappointed most of the customers had one use cups and straws. No wonder US throws away 500 MILLION straws and 40 million plastic cups EVERY DAY. I mentioned that I didn't want any plastic and liked the reusable mug and basket. But didn't like the throwaway side dish. Maybe customers could be served reusable cups, no straws, and put the avocado on the bagel "unless" the customer asks for separate side cups and ASKS for a straw. At two restaurants who didn't automatically force plastic and straws on customers one had NO straws and other half. There is hope...if customers are given a no waste plastic choice. Thanks
Neat place. Limited selection of baked goods. Come here for a quick bite and then take a walk around the lake. The atmosphere is decent. There is a strange “secret” door from the place attached to it that felt a bit bizarre. The bathroom was also funky and tight. The outdoor eating area is pretty and there is a nice flower garden.
so cute!! all of the food was great, even the plain bagel with cream cheese! loved the drinks; i got a dirty chai. best one i’ve had so far. the staff was sweet and the environment was great. lovely place, will be coming by again
I absolutely love this place!! So cute and such a comfy environment to study and be with friends. The patio area is also so beautiful and the employees here are so nice and friendly!! 10000/10 recommend
You know when you’re having a rough week? That job you were looking forward to was taken, that fishing trip you’ve been dreaming about was canceled, that highly anticipated final episode was delayed… and the world is overall a little bleaker? Well.. today was one of those. Was. The vibrant sparkly shine of the unusually genuine smiles of the young Carson and Michael duo really upgraded my expectations for the rest of the week. 10/10 will return for more.

The coffee here is pretty good, and they have a lot of unique flavors available on their menu. They also have a good selection of milk alternatives. I've always been satisfied when I visit. (In fact, this cafe has been the ONLY cafe that has made a pumpkin spice latte that I like.)
The only thing I can mention is that there's far more outdoor seating than indoor seating...but whether you see that as a good or bad thing is personal preference. True to the name, Black Dog Cafe is very dog friendly, so outdoor seating is definitely a plus if you have a furry friend with you.
I loved this place. I'm seriously considering moving to Tallahassee just to come here everyday lol
