Athidhi Indian Cuisine

This review is specifically for our dinner on Saturday 13th July. Usually we've had a pretty good time here. But last time several things were disappointing. They didn't have any bread, took 30+ mins to get our food, food was average and they just felt overwhelmed. I think that's because they had a big party going on at the same time and they didn't have enough staff to manage. So summary: go there only for biryani on weekends and don't expect good service at all, keep your order simple.

Horrible and can not be worse. I ordered catering food on Friday for Saturday evening pickup for 18 people and mentioned him that Saturday morning I will confirm the exact number of guests. I confirmed the number at 9:30am on Sat. When we reached at Atidhi to carry the food in the evening, they said they NEVER got any order from me. It took quite while when they figured out that order was placed but the owner Sam never passed the order/menu to cooks to prepare the food. My 23 guests were waiting at my place while Sam said his cook would have to prepare the food then. How unprofessional you can be that you don't even acknowledge that food was ordered and then prepare the food when we went to collect? He gave a little discount $25 for his utter unprofessional work but then we found out he had given only ONE veg curry in stead of TWO curries in the order we placed. Raita was horrible, chicken biryani had uncooked turmeric. Very very disappointing.

Athidhi Indian restaurant is a pretty large and relatively popular Indian buffet place in Sunnyvale. It s located at the intersection of Wolfe Road and Old San Francisco Road. It is a large facility that has a banquet hall attached to the main restaurant. The style of food is from Andhra Pradesh although dishes are culled from all parts of the country. We went as a large group on a languid Friday afternoon prior to the holidays. Much of the place is what I would call as cookie cutter Indian buffet with the following exceptions, good and bad. The food is pretty spicy. I mean to say, unless you have a thing for spicy food, you will find many of the dishes hard to eat. It pushed me to the edge of my spice handling capabilities. Unfortunately, the spice was without any unique flavor that I would hope. The restaurant offers unlimited supply of good Indian chai as part of the buffets. As a tea lover, I will not complain about that. The restaurant also offers what I would describe as a cross between a thick mango shake and a lassi- also unlimited and as part of the buffet. I am not sure if I can vouch for the naturalness of the mango drink but it was pretty sweet and worked well with the spice in the food. For lovers of alcohol during a lunch buffet, Indian beer is part of the buffet. First time I ever saw that, anywhere. There are quite a few dishes to eat if you are the quantity type.

I am writing this review for heads for people who eat at ATHIDHI. We ordered a food for 15 people for a party celebration. every has the food except the kids. next day morning everybody got food poisoned. surprise thing is people who had vegetarian food also got food poisoned. NEVER EVER going to visit this restaurant.
