I stopped by the Longfellow's Wayside Inn yesterday for the first time for my upcoming birthday which is this Thursday. The service there was outstanding! I've never been more satisfied in my entire life! I love how kept the colonial charm alive! Keep on carrying the Howe's Legacy! I definitely will be coming back! A big thanks to Eddie the waiter whom served me and my family in the Tap Room and all the staff who've helped me at the Wayside Inn to share a memorable experience!
Simply the best. The food, the atmosphere, the friendliness and efficiency of the staff are all top notch. Before I moved to Texas, I went every year. Now I go every time I'm back. The Gristmill is beautiful and worth a stroll in good weather.
I have dined here many times over many years, the food is always very good, but yesterday was exceptional. I ordered the baked scallops and they were the best I have ever had in my 69 years on this planet. Very flavorful and perfectly cooked, tender and delicious. Very good and friendly service just added to the experience. The chocolate mousse dessert was also excellent. The early colonial ambiance is fun, too. Can't recommend this place too strongly. Go!
This place is a cozy historical dream. I love going here when I visit family in Massachusetts. The food is always top notch and the atmosphere is very cozy. Added bonus is all the history in the building. Some of the staff can be a little less than professional but it adds to the charm in a way. If you haven't been here or are looking for a nice meal out this is an absolute winner.
Enjoyed a fabulous new years eve dinner with my girlfriend. We were welcomed with a warm greeting. Our server was Nancy and we cant say enough good things about her other than she deserves a raise. The food was delicious and we will definitely be back. Next time for a stay.
Went to Wayside Inn with (23) people fir a wedding anniversary lunch . We rented a room all the way in the back for $200. All the meals were very good as stated to me ! My pot roast was just that , pot roast was decent , gravy was good and the potatoes and squash are always excellent ! I have dined there and stayed at the Inn a bunch of times over the years . The prime rib is always excellent ! I tried the butternut squash ravioli and they were a little undercooked and the sauce was unremarkable . The shrimp pie was okay ; shrimp were kind of small and not plentiful! Bread and rolls are always a hit! Drink prices are reasonable . My French onion soup was good ! Salads looked pretty good ! The best part of The Wayside Inn is the wonderful history that it has been a part of ! If you get a chance to stay in one of the old rooms , you’ll love it ! Always a wonderful place for an event or a date !
Great place to eat with family especially if it's their first time. Really rustic atmosphere and original building with it's history. Limited menu selection but something for everyone. Good wine and beer list. Gift shop. They also rent out a few rustic rooms with bath for those wanting to experience in the colonial past. Lots of parking. Everyone needs to visit this Inn once in their lifetime.
The four of us had lunch to celebrate a 70th birthday of one of us. The service was great and the meal was delicious. We all ordered the pot roast with potatoes and squash. It was cooked to perfection and had a wonderful flavor with there own gravy. We all shared a bottle of wine.
I absolutely LOVE Wayside Inn. It is a very historic building and not like your everyday typical restaurant. The food is fabulous! Our waitress was amazing! I has the chicken breast. It comes with cornbread stuffing which I can't eat. So I just had the chicken grilled w/ delmonico potatoes and our waitress suggested the chef salad for the veggie. Our waitress even brought me some homemade chicken gravy. Sooooo good!!!
