Sooner Bbq

We visited this location 3 days in a row for lunch and were so impressed. I recommend the pulled pork sandwich, the grilled meatloaf, and everything except the green beans. I felt like they were very plain and straight from a big can. I would have preferred those same contents washed, and seasoned with some of the pork. The beans were almost not worth mentioning compared to their main entrees. They also cover large events by order in advance. I saw a very busy set of entrepreneurs working hard for all of their guests. I overheard their frustration and would encourage large parties to order well in advance please!

I love BBq and have been doing it for a good while myself. This BBq was very moist but had very little smoke taste and not enough rub to season it for my liking. The collard greens were seasoned very well but they were crunchy, not cooked enough for me. They have a variety of sauces you can choose from to take to your table but they request you only take 2 per table, which is crazy when you have several people in your party like we did. Not everyone in a group will want the same sauce. The entrance has a few antiques as you enter and they were very dusty and needed to be cleaned.

I don't know how it's taken me this long, but I finally got dinner at Sooner BBQ & More in Stuarts Draft. I knew they had gf friendly food, but the experience was way better than I anticipated. I told the owner I was gluten sensative, and he came around the counter so he could walk me through the whole menu so I could safely order. It was actually super easy to navigate, and unlike most places that have a large regular menu with a few gf options, he had more gf options than not! For the first time since discovering my sensitivity about 3 years ago, I was able to safely order fried pickle chips! Not only is the batter gf, they use a gf designated fryer. And I got the meatloaf which is obviously also made gf. It was delicious!!!! So happy I finally went in and tried em out. If you're gf or just like good bbq, check em out! I can't wait to work my way through the rest of the menu!

My husband and I randomly stopped here after visiting the local greenhouse. We were both craving BBQ and this was the closest one. It was in a weird little strip mall so we didn't have high expectations but were totally blown away!!! Everything was PERFECT! The meat was juicy, perfectly spiced, and so tender that it fell off the bone. The sides were equally as impressive! I don't know how they make their collard greens but these are my favorite now. Just enough sweetness and vinegar with the leaves still holding a bite. I daydream about it. It's been a few weeks since we've gone but I think we need to make another trip out here for the food!

Service was good. I had the pulled pork sandwich with slaw. The flavor of the BBQ didn't impress me to too much but they had a good variety of sauces to add some flavor. However, the thin (flat) cut fries were a true novelty to me and were my favorite part of the meal. I'd like to have tried other stuff they had, but I was only visiting in town for a week.
