I'd give it 5 stars but the park definitely has some issues.
First off...$20 to park?? Never been to a state park, anywhere, where you pay that much to park!
With that being said I think at one time this park was on point. Today I feel the only part of the park that is really cared about is the "attractions" part of the park, the parts where you pay more money to see and do such as the sky ride to the top of the mountain or the mini theme park with its train ride and high priced, terrible quality food, and teen employees that could care less about your experience.
For the Nature Lovers going to the park for the outdoor features like hiking, biking, running, boating, fishing, and just being out in nature this park is beautiful but the areas we would be spending time in are lacking such as bathrooms in those areas of the park (most of the ones I saw were quite run down) or trails that could be improved upon. It seems that any money spent is thrown at the places they will make the most money.
Most state parks have a visitor center or ranger station where you can get info or stay up to date on what is open, closed, etc. Here you are on your own to figure it out. And again the only place to really ask any questions is at the attractions area and the teenage workers there, when not on their phones, have no clue about what is going on in the rest of the park.
Nature lovers you will still have a good time with all this park has to offer from the hike to the top of the mountain, to the Cherokee Trail that meanders through and around the whole park, to the beautiful kayaking in the lakes, and the campground (which was great). Just be aware that it's not like your typical state park in a lot of ways.
The other positive that I noticed is there seems to be a trash can every 100ft (and yet people still manage to throw trash), there are lights everywhere at night, which is great for running and biking when the park is open to midnight, and there are even emergency call boxes scattered throughout the park in the event you may need one.

What a fun evening! It has been quite a while since we visited Stone Mountain Park and enjoyed the world famous Laser Show! What interactions we had with the staff was pleasant. The attractions do require tickets so I’d suggest getting them beforehand or look into the ticket packages if you are considering taking advantage of what the park has to offer! Bring your blankets and chairs and picnic supplies and enjoy a day and evening at the park!

An absolutely beautiful park surrounded by stunning scenery. There's a $20 fee upon entering the park although it's worth the cost of a yearly pass for $40. There's plenty to do for the entire family; camping, boating, fishing, golf, hiking, bicycling, etc. Don't forget about the scenic train ride in open-air cars that'll take you on a 5 mile journey through this picturesque park. If camping isn't your thing the Atlanta Evergreen Marriott Conference Resort is in the park as well, offering vast lake views and easy access to all the park has to offer.

The park is great for visiting, especially with kids. Lots of kid-friendly activities and attractions. The top of the rock is awesome. The views are great from the top. The Skyride lift was a great experience. The laser show spectacular was great and must-see attraction. Though some of the management issues were also notable. The Dino bone extraction during the scenic railroad was very poorly executed. The marketplace restaurant was a mess. They were slow to respond and the food quality was below average for the price. The employees were not well trained at the ticket counter and the gate. They were lack of information about ticketing and building locations. Every time we ask any questions they had to ask someone else to provide the answer.

So we went here on our last day in atlanta and I enjoyed it. We did the whole hike all the way up to the top of the mountain and while it was a bit tiring it still provided a good workout and I also got to see some beautiful scenery along the way. The views from the mountains are stunning and beautiful and gorgeous in general. I also like the fact that there was a store at the top of the mountain which had drinks and snacks and also enjoyed going to the little outside area that was on the side outside the building that had the store because I see more beautiful views.overall I do recommend this place to anyone who wants to go somewhere that has beautiful scenery and beautiful views.

This was my first trip to Stone Mountain and I had a great time. We were having a family reunion as well as it being Memorial day weekend. We stayed at The Evergreen hotel within the park grounds. The hotel was beautiful, clean and comfortable. The staff was great. The food was good. The park was beautiful and lots for the family to do.

Great place. You have to take a small hike to the mountain top (about 1 mile), but can see the skyline of Atlanta. Great place to sit and chill. There are a few steep places, not too difficult unless you have height phobia. I suggest wearing some good shoes with solid grips as most of the stones are kind-of polished. I can imagine having a hard time when it rains. The parking ticket is $20 per car.
