Sam’s Southern Eatery

Today I returned to Sam's southern Eatery to give it another chance. While I won't say it was a perfect service, I'll say that the experience was not as bad as 2 days ago. The front of house staff was friendly and efficient and the fish and shrimp were good. My roommate who was with me has this to say; "The mashed potatoes pulled apart well and tasted like homemade mashed potatoes." The only problems I found were the oysters tasted like they were "still living in the water." As well as the chipped tables that had 3 mismatched and the hush puppies that were both old to the touch and stale. And my roommate said "the Mac n cheese makes him want to stop calling American cheese plastic." Personally I would recommend going here expecting food of a medium level and service of a great level. The restaurant was pretty dirty which seems a little more off putting specifically because they do serve sea food. Our table was pretty sticky. I'm not a big fan of fried sea food so I got the burger and it was not good but I paid for it. Definitely a place for older people. Very similar to Chester's chicken.

My family and I went out to grab a quick bite to eat and found this gem. What a fantastic spot!! The Chicken Philly is TO DIE FOR! The grilled shrimp is Gulf shrimp cooked perfectly and seasoned very well. Do you like crunchy fried pickles and okra?…well this place delivers the crunch AND the flavor! Don’t miss out on dessert and try the Cajun Tartar Sauce! Besides the food being GREAT, you couldn’t ask for sweeter staff Jackie was a DOLL! Thank you, Sam’s! We’ll be back!

I ordered through GrubHub this evening and received an order of 2 fish and 6 shrimp that came with fruit flies in it. The restaurant claimed that this was seasoning and not flies (with a response time and tone that suggested this is a common issue) Below is a photo of the so called "seasoning" that clearly has legs. The restaurant then refused a refund based on bugs in the food. Unbelievable. Don't order from this place. The rice was also hard enough to break your teeth and there were items missing from my order. All in all a horrible experience with a total lack of any attempt to keep my business, don't make the mistake of giving them yours.

I have eaten here before over a year ago and it was great. But I ate there tonight and it was terrible! I very seldom complain about my food but the fries were tough and lukewarm as well as the hushpuppies! The lettuce was brown in the "salad" and the shrimp was so so. I was so disappointed because I hardly ever eat out!!!☹
