Really good German food. I have tried a bunch of dishes there without knowing much about German food and I have enjoyed them all. They have the traditional schnitzel which is tasty but I also recommend trying some other meals. They are really great.
Honestly, I wasn't sure Staten Island could deliver on much else, gastronomically speaking, than terrific Italian food. It seems to be the stock in trade there, and while I've had reasonably good Spanish tapas on the island, a German beer hall seemed far-fetched. But this trip, two of our party were enthusiastic wurst freaks. So I selected Nurnberger Bierhaus for our dinner choice the first night in town. Killmeyer's is the more famous, better rated SI German emporium, but Nurnberger was on our way to the St. George Theater, so it got the nod this time.
Great dinner at the bar.. A friend and I stopped in to watch the Hockey game the other night and planned to have a drink. A customer at the bar ordered a rack of lamb dinner and the aroma drifted towards our table. We decided to have a look at the menu and quickly ordered this dish for ourselves. The meal was generous enough to share. We each had 4 baby lamb chops and shared the sides of fresh string beans wrapped in bacon and mashed potatoes. The lamb was cooked perfectly and the spicy mustard sauce added a nice kick. The dish was served by friendly staff. Two thumbs up!
Horseradish Encrusted Pork Chop. Takes about a half hour to cook, but worth every minute.
What a great little spot. I avoided it for years assuming it couldn't be good. I was completely surprised to find great service, wonderful menu choices, great preparation, good beer and convenient hours open for service. The restaurant was great, the beer hall and beer garden make it all even better.
Wonderful food. Nice friendly staff. Good beer. Moderately Priced. One of my favorite places on Staten Island. I loved it. Very German.
This is a great find on Staten Island. A very cute little place with good food, good beer, and good service.
ALWAYS A BLAST. Every time we come here we get sloshed and have a great time! The food is A#1 in my book
A walk down Castleton Avenue in Staten Island is not exactly full of pleasant sights and joy. It is a bit destitute, with many empty lots and shuttered buildings. Opening the door to this friendly bierhaus is welcome respite though, with a crowd of people
