Cool Cafe

The food is much better than your average fair but even accounting for the quality, prices are crazy. $13 for a hot dog and chips, $15 for a burger, no sides, and $9 for a mug of soup. It's a nice Cafe with phone chargers and an outside patio but it's worth eating at Stanford Shopping Center or downtown for a better deal.

The outdoor dining is fabulous and the location couldn't be better but the food was only ok. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and from the first bite I thought that it was much too salty. I was surprised by how much salt was used on the chicken and eating the sandwich was difficult because of it. The baguette the sandwich was served on was excellent. I ended up taking everything off of the sandwich except for the cucumber and mayo and ended up with a really delicious cucumber sandwich.

Went in for a light lunch during a Cantor tour with an international group. I asked if they had fruit. No. Soup? Only beet soup. Don't like beets. I ask for the 1/2 sandwich. The woman says I have to get 1/2 sandwich with either beet soup or a salad. $8.50! I was super hungry so said I would take just the 1/2msandwich but no salad or soup and I would pay the $8.50. Nope, she refused and said she would not sell me 1/2 sandwich unless I took either beet soup or salad. I told her that made no sense, since I was willing to pay full price. Nope! I gave up and got the salad and the so-so ordinary 1/2 turkey sandwich. This place is not staffed with thinking people. It was like that scene in Five Easy Pieces. The group I was with all were stunned that American clerks were this stupid. Yes, beet soup stupid, and wasting food.
