After a hectic drive to Stafford, VA (traffic was crazy), went to a restaurant we had been before,,but it changed ownership. We decided to go ahead and eat there...was greatly disappointed with quality of food...So later, i browsed online for seafood restaurants close by...came up with The Log Cabin...made reservations....then was 40 minutes late arriving due to extreme traffic,,so we called and they said to still come. We were pleasantly excited about the atmosphere of the place..very comforting, casual, with a nice warm fireplace.. The food quality was a 5 out of 5 stars,,,we had a crab, scallop, and shrimp dinner which included the salad bar and choice of vegetable. We loved it ..SO FRESH...you can tell for sure. The waitress was friendly and efficient. The owner was very kind and grateful for our nice comments about their restaurant. Would highly advise anyone to go there...you will love it for sure.. We will be back...sometimes we drive 2 hours just for better weather and GREAT FOOD! 2 THUMBS UP!!!! Gary H Lehman
Great restaurant! The service was awesome, food was great, and I really enjoyed the country/cozy atmosphere. A little pricey, but this is a place to come to for special occasions. My wife and I were very impressed. I'm looking forward to coming back.
Great Crab Cakes. Excellent Crab Cakes, a little on the pricey side but no filler and a generous service of two 4oz lump cakes. The squash cooked in cajon seasoning made for a great side dish. I haven't been here in over 15 years but the food and service was just as good as I remembered years ago
Nice Restaurant. I went with my wife a couple of years ago and remember really enjoying the food. Not for kids, and you've got to make a reservation, but all-in-all not a bad place. It was expensive, but worth the price, in my opinion, though nothing really set it apart from the other fine steakhouses in Old Town.
Thank Goodness for Independent Restaurants. We found a treasure. We love to find wonderful owner/operated restaurants and were very pleased to discover The Log Cabin. We don't mind paying for quality food and that's what we found here. The seafood was very good quality and didn't need to be hidden with lots of sauces like you find in so many chain places. The Panfried Crabcakes were heavenly--picture all crabmeat sauteed in butter. The Filet Mignon was chargrilled and so tender. The Cabin atmosphere is what you'd expect from a log cabin-- warm and inviting and casual --love the real fireplace.
Like Could've Been Love. The Log Cabin is one of the only restaurants in Stafford offering fresh Maine lobster. That alone sets it apart. However, tacky decor, a plain serve yourself salad bar and lack-luster sides turn what could be Stafford's "IT" location into something more senior-citizen. I feel like Im walking into my great grandmother's house, and when Im spending $100+ for two, I want it to feel sexier. My advice is to lose the nonsensical wall hangings (like a baby blanket hung on the diagonal!), those strange light fixtures, clean out the beautiful fireplace and get rid of the paper table covers. The building is beautiful, keep the decor simple and sexy, redesign your sides to be seasonal with local farms, and keep up the amazing lobster/steak options (they were very, very good.) This place has great service, and with a little work, it could be doing a hundred times better.
Nice, cozy environment.... Went to this restaurant for our anniversary. The atmosphere was very quaint and romantic with the candles burning. The food was pretty good but not fantastic. Had an appetizer of heirloom tomatoes with balsamic vinegrette and herbs that had been grown by the owner that was the best part of the meal. Do not know if I will return to this place for a while. Although we enjoyed ourselves, for what we got, it was very expensive and there are so many other restaurants that have similar feel but better food.
Love it for 30 years. It's so wonderful to go to a restaurant where you feel so welcome and appreciated. We've been going to the Log Cabin for about 30 years and always marvel at being able to count on great food and service every time! Whether we are in the mood for seafood or steaks -sometimes we can't decide so we get both-we are always delighted with our entrees.
Wonderful. My husband and I went the friday before valentines day, we both had been there before when we were teens, so it was all new to us again. The atmosphere was cozy with a nice glow for the fire place. One thing we didnt like was the tight seating. But the food was very good and there was alot of it,It was a little pricey. We did get dessert the vanilla creme brulee it was a great ending to our meals. We enjoyed it so much we have ordered take out twice. Not sure if Id take my little ones(1,5,11) more for the older kids :). Great place for first dates, old and new ones.
We discovered this place along the road on our vacation trip and was a discovery.
Service: the restaurant was nearly full and the plates are leaving the table within 30 seconds after being empty, same for water and the homemade delicious bread.
Speaking of the food, everything was perfect. No overpretention, they kept the seasoning simple but the taste was incredible and the seafood was cook perfectly. Great side dish too.
The food was really good and the waiter was super friendly and helpful especially when their was a mix up with our food. They fixed the issue quickly, I didn't take any stars off because they had new staff running the kitchen. We've all been newbies at one time in our lives making mistakes, it can happen to anyone plus the waiter was incredibly kind and helpful. Also the drinks are very good too.
My husband and I went here for a nice dinner last night. We came in without a reservation and the hostess let us know they were extremely busy, but she would see what she could do. She was able to find us an open table and a server and we really appreciated it. Our server was amazing (I hate to say I do not remember his name but he is bald if that helps), the food was amazing, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting! Love this place!!!!
Service is 20/10, food is pretty good… I love the place also the ambient.
Steak was excellent and fried shrimp too.
I love they crab legs.
One of the oldest restaurants in the Fredericksburg area. Walking into a dimly lit atmosphere of wood and low hanging ceilings, we were warmly greeted and sat shortly there after. (Reservations required). Our waitress was wonderful and very attentive. We started out with a hearty delish crab stuffed mushroom caps, and shrimp cocktail. I had the Delmonico steak, my wife had boiled seafood-plater, lob tail, shrimp and a crab cake and her son had a tender surf&turf. We finished up with a delightful creme brûlée and a Chocolate lava cake with ice cream and whipped cream. Good service was all around so I think you’re going to really enjoy.
Nice, quiet atmosphere with a friendly, attentive, and professional staff. The food was perfect: shrimp cocktail, fried shrimp, crab cakes, cheesecake, and creme brule did not disappoint! Thank you for a wonderful meal and dining experience!
Home sweet Home, love this restaurant. Best place ever to get yourself a steak and seafood dish. The salad is amazing and fresh. The cocktails are off the charts..wow. From the time you walk in, you are greeted with warm and open arms. The staff is amazing, friendly, caring, and awesome. The best customer service with that home town feeling you will find anywhere. Thank you, love it had a great time and loved the food. I definitely will be back again. I strongly recommend this place if your looking for a cozy spot to enjoy a fantastic meal!
A large group of my family was being evacuated from the Outer Banks, due to Dorian. We were in need of a need of a good meal and we found it here. Such a comfortable place to be, there was even a soft sofa to sit on. The food was amazing also, I ordered the lobster, crab and scallops. There's no shells!! The price is high but we got our money's worth.
