Zip's Drive In

Very very disappointed! I ordered their 3 PC fish and chips and 5 burgers, no pickle, extra onion from the downtown Spokane location. Their fish "pieces" are more like fish tots. I seriously got 3 pieces that were the size of tater tots. Literally 1 bite each. And my burgers had absolutely nothing on them other than pickles! They were honestly worse than McDonald's and I despise McDonald's 😠! I called and spoke with a manager and she stated there is nothing that can be done without a receipt. Well guess what!?!?!? The receipt was apparently wherever they put the rest of my fish and my onions. Not in the bag!!! I understand needing a receipt for some things but first off, I wasn't asking for a refund I simply wanted to express my concern, primarily regarding the 'fish tots'. She said she could not address that issue without a receipt. I explained it never made it in the bag but I had pictures and can show on my bank statement that I just spent over $30 at that specific time (for absolutely inedible burgers and 3 bites of fish). Nothing can be done she exclaimed. Seriously though!!! They were literally fish tots!!!!! Picture of fish was taken after I had reached in the bag and pulled one out to eat on my way home so there is only 2 pieces in the picture. When I saw the piece that I pulled out to eat I thought that it surely was a mistake and that there would be 3 regular sized pieces of fish and that I got an extra teeny tiny one too 🤷. Nope! Wrong!

They accidentally gave us a different kind of milkshake than what we ordered so we went back and they gave us a whole new milkshake no questions asked for free. I guess that kind of service is to be expected but still I thought it was commendable. Zips is local. They're fry sauce and tartar sauce are real good yummy.

Ordered ice cream in a cup and sandwiches for me and my kids. They tried handing me ice cream cones. I said i wanted it in a cup without a cone, she seemed upset and just scrapped it off the cone into the cup. One cup had way more ice cream then the other. Then when i get home i cut a sandwich in half and their's a black hair in my food. Super gross.

The burgers tasted decent to ok....but the tots, fries, and corn dogs were soggy. It's one of those places where people either like it or they don't. I won't be going back...but it may have just been the cook who didn't make the fried items properly. If you are going I think the burgers are more of their specialty and if you've never had one...that's what I would go with.

The lobby order taker was very friendly, brought our food to us, and offered and suggested sauces. The owner needs to not be so fartsy and let the employees have colored hair. Hospital jobs, white collar jobs allow it, and all the other Zips in town not owned by this guy allow their employees to have freedom of expression. It’s hard to find good workers these days. You really want to restrict the amount you can hire by not allowing colored hair? Seriously?

GREAT food, and I have been eating here since I was a kid in the 80's. I have steadily seen the price of Belly Bisters & Papa Joes increase from double digits to triple digits each. But as of June 2022 it seems like the cost of iten's on Zip's menu in general has across the board increased relative to other burger joints menu item cost. Don't get me wrong. I love me a Belly Buster & fries MORE than the next guy. It's just a travesty that it costs a half-hour of work instead of the 22 minutes it did in the 80's. (we, wait...) 😁
