The Galley Restaurant

Tom and I stopped for lunch at The Galley Restaurant in Spenserport NY today. I love when we find a place we haven't been and really enjoy it! The staff was curtious and knowledgeable of the whole menu. When I asked for a tecommendation they knew exactly what I might enjoy. The food was Excellent!!! I had Shrimp and Roasted Corn Bisque to start...It's a galley specialty! Baby shrimp and roasted corn in a mild creamy soup with a hint of dill and mild pepper sauce and Tom and I both had their famous Galleyweck Their house specialty! a huge portion of roasted beef, thinly sliced, served with horseradish, au jus on a kimmelweck roll! Since we moved to Brockport from Buffalo we haven't found a Beef on Wick worth writing home about until today!!! The beef was delightfully tender and was offered with a choice side. And the nice surprise was the Shrimp and Roasted Corn Bisque. The best I've had in years! The restaurant was full of perfectly placed nautical decor and the added plus was checking out the local scenery while we ate. Boats were parked along the canal. The people where sitting along side their boats enjoying the day and even were playing live music. One actually pulled out a fiddle and another a snare drum and started to play! They were pretty good too! We are excited to go back and it's just a short ride down the road for us.

I went to the Galley for the first time last week and thoroughly enjoyed the staff, the atmosphere, and the food. Then i visited twice more within a week !!! Every staff person has been very friendly and made me feel welcomed. The tables outdoors next to the canal offer peaceful scenery to enjoy while eating. And the food is delicious. I especially love the homemade shrimp corn bisque; thick, flavorful and awesome. I havent tried the NE clam chowder yet but looking forward to it !!!! Just happened to have walked in this place, would never have stopped if I saw the ratings. However, we had a pretty good meal, our server, Heather, was excellent. This is a place that could have a lot better rating with some reinvestment. It has a fun vibe, but if it was focusing on quality, it would be much more popular and profitable. It fell short of 5 stars, but I would still recommend trying it. Had the Galleyweck Sandwich, which was extremely salty on the bun, more than I could handle. Everything else was decent, although they overemphasize the giant screen TV unless you are a giant sports fan it's not that nice.

I have been here once for drinks and just recently for food. Service was very good. The soup and the sandwiches were above average and I must say that after reading other negative reviews here Im going to say that those folks are smoking something funny? I will be back and will invite friends also 4 stars for me!
