Food was really great. Ordered the scrod and oreganata and beef tips dinner entrees. Each comes with vegetable medley and potato in the style of the day - among mashed or baked or roasted. Scrod was succulent and not mushy, for lack of better word. Recommended. However, please beware the website menu prices are acknowledged to be outdated and quite different from current prices.
Went for dad's birthday, service was good, food was pretty good as well. Portion sizes are nice, not overdone. Unless you'd like to try the kitchen sink, and get a t-shirt for finishing it all. I did compete the challenge many years ago. They didn't have my size shirt, so I went with the XXL!
A popular local breakfast and lunch spot. I went for breakfast and was surprised by the large variety of options on the menu. The food was great, and the service was great too. The atmosphere is very cozy and fits with the Southbury area. Will definitely be going back, and I highly recommend for a casual breakfast lunch or dinner.
Stopped here for an awsome breakfast , they did not disappoint make sure to try the OJ its as fresh as it gets
Do not go here unless you are hungry or prepared to take food home with you. The taste was great and the portions more than generous. Also notable is everything but the kitchen sink for breakfast, that requires at least two people. Have to try them for lunch or dinner if they serve them b
We always enjoy our breakfasts at Leo's .. they have an extensive menu of unique and homemade items ..
This time my daughter and I were both feeling the need for potatoes .. so she went with potato pancakes and I definitely needed a knish .. lol ..
**for anyone from the tri-state area around NYC, you may not realize how lucky we are to have many great 'Diner' options or how many people have never even heard of a potato pancake or a knish (auto-correct keeps trying to tell me that I want a "knight" lol)
Anyway .. the potato pancakes come on the breakfast menu with scrambled eggs .. always a good option, and always made well .. but that would be too normal on this day ..
On the other hand, I simply wanted their knish with mushrooms, bacon and Swiss .. the only potential issue was that it was a lunch menu item and it was only 8:30am .. lol
As has happened many times in the past, when the chef(s) were asked, they said they could do it, including my addition of poached eggs and a side of hollandaise .. see, I did turn it into breakfast 😋 .. lol
When the food was delivered and I saw that my daughter had also gone with poached eggs, added a side of ham and a side of hollandaise, I realized that we basically both were on the same food jag that day .. different variations of a Benedict theme .. lol
Now, do I suggest that you go into any restaurant and twist things around and order things that technically are unavailable (?) NO! .. Absolutely Not ! Anyone who has ever been in the business or who eats out on a regular basis knows that this is not something that you should do as a customer .. if you don't want what a restaurant serves, you can go to another restaurant.
But on this day, in this restaurant, the staff at Leo's showed me once again why it's top-notch on all levels ..
They have an extensive menu of options and they do them all well!
Their wait staff is friendly, fast and efficient!
Their chefs are very good at what they do and the food arrives very quickly!
AND.. they will do their best to accommodate special requests whenever possible ..
Last but not least .. for anyone who has previously read any of my 'Diner' reviews, you know that I think coffee service can make or break a Diner .. They do it right at Leo's ..
Coffee is Hot and Fresh and Very Drinkable !!! AND .. the staff is always there to replenish your cup before you even know you need more!
So basically, whenever you are looking for a great meal you should head straight to Leo's, where the food and staff excel!
Food was great. I had the early bird special between 4:30 and 6:00. Walked away stuffed and satisfied. We'll be visiting again.
