Forest Ave location: Delicious selection (as well as salsas). Highly recommend these guys for such quality (quick eats) tacos. Glad there is a quick spot now open on Forest Ave.
Finally .... ... a Mexican restaurant in Maine to soothe the hunger pangs of transplants from the southwest. No iceberg lettuce. Real tacos al pastor. Thank you, Taco Trio! Especially loved the jalapeno salsa.
Tasty avocado with habinaro, might give my big toe for a burrito, Margarita in a bottle, full throttle... empanadas with my bro hoes down in sopos. knightsville is where it's at.
Get it to GO!. I’m so glad we finally tried this place. I have heard a lot about it, both good and bad and needed to know for myself. We tried the carnitas sopes, carne asada tacos and pastor tacos as well as a variety of their many salsa. The food was really good and we would go back again for the food. However, we would get it to go. It was busy when we were in there and we had to wait to get a seat to eat our food. The salsa station is also over to one side so diners are constantly walking back for to get more. WE have to move our chairs to accommodate people several times.
Giant burritos and lots of salsa! Need I say more?
Sooo gooood. Carne asada burrito. It's a $9 burrito because it's real steak and it's about 8 pounds. Not really 8 but it's heavy and fills you up. Best burrito in the area.
Had the Taco Trio at lunch.Very simple and tasty!!..the salsa bar is great too...12 different choices of salsa/toppings in varying grades of hot and mild. And.....the price is right....a must see if you like authentic Mexican grub
Good food; customer service and atmosphere need improvement. My friends and I had lunch here on a cold Saturday afternoon. It was nearly as cold inside the restaurant as it was outside. The dining area was quite drafty; we all had to put our jackets back on in order to be comfortable.
The food was good. I had a grilled beef taco, a grilled chicken taco, and a fish taco. My friends also had fish tacos and we all agreed that those were very good and that we'd definitely get them again. My chicken taco was a bit bland and a bit dry, but not terrible. My beef taco was very flavorful and the beef had a nice char to it, but it wasn't as impressive as the fish.
The tortilla chips were crisp and crunchy, and nicely salted. The salsa verde was delicious and we all agreed that it was our favorite among the various salsas on offer at the salsa bar.
The customer service was a bit lacking. Everyone working there, from the cashier to the cooks, looked like they were miserable. None of them cracked a smile even once during the 40 minutes we were there. I thought Mexican restaurants were supposed to be cheerful and party-like. Not this place. But the yummy fish tacos almost made up for the cold (literally and figuratively) atmosphere.
Thank goodness southern Maine finally got a taqeri that makes delicious traditional tacos and fresh salsas. Those who have said the tacos were dry or bland must have been on and off night or like their Mexican food smothered in sauce and cheese. The meats are tender, moist and flavored to perfection. I love this place!
Keeps getting better. Just have to say, the food here is getting tastier and tastier! The portions are generous and the service is faster. The flavors are solid and delicious!! I can only assume the solid volume of business is having a very positive effect. Sure hope they have soups come winter!
...serves up a menu of “traditional” Mexican food, similar to what you would actually find in a corner taco stand in Mexico.
The best part about the tacos is the salsa bar. I sampled a few and found the hot ones to actually be hot.
The food is absolutely amazing. Fresh ingredients and all three of the tacos I had were just bursting with flavor. Great casual vibe inside too. The Pescado Chipotle was especially unique.

Was in the area and remembered this place was nearby. I'm so glad I stopped for lunch. The Carne Asada Burrito was exactly what I'd been missing. It tasted like being back in SoCal at my Mexican friend's house on a Sunday afternoon. It's basically upgraded counter service with a bar.
I highly recommend 👌!
4.5+! Love the new space and great their excellent bar. Food was really good, margaritas delicious.
Love that the new space allows for tortillas to grilled for the tacos.
One suggestion though, if you order chips and salsa or guacamole along with your main food order, get that out immediately so you can enjoy them with your drinks instead of all food items arriving at the same time.
The food here is pretty good, with decent portion sizes and a variety of options. It's all pretty straightforward, too. I did try a house margarita and it was absolutely not worth $11. The vibes inside were a little odd and it was too warm. But A LOT of folks were getting takeaway while we were there and I think maybe that's more their specialty? Plus this space is new and maybe they're getting used to it. I'll for sure go back.
This is my favorite Mexican place in town. I've never had anything that I dislike. There is no table service, so if you're having a date night, this might not be the place. You order your food at the counter and then head to the bar to get your drinks. The margaritas are fantastic, but a tad expensive. My only recommendation to the owners, would be to lower the lights a bit and warmer.
Excellent place for street tacos. The knightville area in South Portland has really come into its own. The food options are growing nicely and this is one of the best. The building is gorgeous and has some nice outdoor seating. Great place to eat!
