We ate here before a concert and I was not disappointed. The Tori Udon was fantastic, so full of flavor. The chicken was cooked nicely and was tender. The Grasshopper roll was my favorite bite of the meal. I will go back every time I'm in Tahoe.

There was a bit of a wait (30 minutes) for a table for 7 of us - we didn't mind terribly waiting, but it would have been nicer if the Yelp waitlist function had worked properly. But we finally were seated at a table outside. We'd already looked at the menu and had a good idea of what we wanted to order. Everyone was very pleased with what they ordered. I was happy that there were a couple of veggie rolls that had tofu in them, and one that was vegan without the sauce and was probably one of the best "sushi" rolls I've ever eaten in my life. It was called the Earthworm (contains organic baked tofu, basil, garlic, cucumber & broccoli topped with avocado, macadamia nuts and dynamite sauce) and the combination of the basil and garlic was AMAZING. The Bhodi (organic baked tofu, spinach, garlic and shiitake mushroom) was also very good. Service was excellent and very helpful. They took our order efficiently but we didn't feel rushed, and it wasn't a terribly long wait to get the food. Everything looked gorgeous and the consensus seemed to be that everything was delicious. They were unfortunately out of the lava cake that several people in our group wanted to split, but they got to split the tempura cheesecake, and they really enjoyed that as well. We will likely come back next year when we're back for our yearly vacation!

Sushi was great, very fresh. Maybe could have had more variety? A lot of the rolls had their signature eel sauce and/or macadamia nuts in them. That is the only reason for giving the food 4 stars because the rolls I had were delicious. Sushi chefs were attentive, friendly, and so was the staff. Good atmosphere.

First time in Lake Tahoe and the Sushi here is great we got the crunchy granola, fire in the sky and the special holy smokes, all three were amazing would come back again if back in the area. Could not recommend more. Also ordered the calamari, sake, and a miso soup. Great spot :)

Awesome spot for sushi, can’t believe I’ve lived here 2 years and this was my first time last night. The sumitomo salad I ordered was accidentally sweet instead acidic, I told the waitress and they thanked me for calling it out so they could stop serving it to other customers. I felt appreciated.

Excellent sushi! We came for happy hour on a Monday. There was a 15 minute wait for us (party of two), a lot of people were waiting outside. Pro tip: they check you in using the Yelp waitlist, so you might as well get on the waitlist through the Yelp app ahead of time!) Happy hour menu was a great deal, everything was $1-$3 off the regular prices. I love all the rolls with macadamia nuts, several had basil and garlic which tasted like pesto, yum! We got one of the specials and a bunch of the rolls on the HH menu. All were delicious (definitely stands up to what I’m used to in the Bay Area)! The Crunchy Granola, Superstar, and Joker stood out as extra tasty. Hula Girl was also great. They had chilled sake carafes on the happy hour menu which I appreciated, as I wasn’t interested in hot sake. Server was very sweet and friendly, seems like the servers work together and pool tips, as several people helped us over the course of the meal. Very smoothly coordinated. It was a little noisy and hard to hear conversation near the end of our meal but not so bad as to ruin anything. Overall great experience!

One of the best places I’ve eaten at in Tahoe. I will for sure be returning. I recommend the BBQ short ribs, the yellow tail sashimi and the Gambler roll. The service is also great :) the only negative was that we didn’t really love the mochi

The service here is always so wounderful all the staff are so nice and accommodating . The atmosphere sitting inside or out is wounderful. The portions are nothing short of extremely generous. Best sushi in the area hands down. I never go anywhere else.

NEW REVIEW: We have been to Off the Hook several times over the past several years. In fact, after my initial review (posted at the bottom), we did indeed try again and have been pleased each time. That's what keeps us going back. I don't remember which of the rolls I had, except that it was delicious! We always sit at the sushi counter so we can ask questions. It's Affordable, Delicious, and Friendly! Try OFF the HOOK first. (If you find this review helpful, please let others know by hitting the like button. Thank you 😊) Old review: Our waitress, Gabe (gal), was wonderful. I'd easily give her four stars . However, some of the food was good, and other was great, so I have a mixed review. My husband decided he wanted to try a sushi roll and he only ate 1/2, which never happens! But it wasn't very flavorful at all. The Gyozi potstickers were delicious, as were the ribs, and the walnut shrimp was fair. We sat outside and even with the main road right there, it was still pleasurable at 7pm on a Wednesday evening. We heard the traffic noise but it didn't overwhelm our conversation. All the staff were great. So, again, a mixed review. I'd try it again just to compare. And I'd stick to the sushi bar to see how they do with that.
