Five Guys

I used to dine at their Grape Road location a lot whenever taking a trip to UP Mall. The Eddy Street Commons location is similar in quality and professionalism. I still prefer the Grape Road location over this one only because there were a few times when their computer system was down. I don’t really fault them for that, though. Five Guys is still my go-to burger no matter the location.

I usually love coming here but I went this past Friday and did not have a great experience. They take way too long to make shakes and one of the employees yelled at me when I was eating. I had not seen any signs anywhere saying we could not eat and there were multiple people eating while they waited on their shakes. The guy making the shakes was taking his sweet time and was walking around talking to people instead of doing his job. An African American employee saw me eating while I waited and yelled across the restaurant saying it was a carry out only. He continued to yell asking me if I saw any other people eating. There were indeed multiple people eating. I understand we were not supposed to eat in the restaurant, but there are other ways to talk to people. This was coming from an employee who was wearing his mask on his chin, not following regulations. This was the worst experience I have ever had at any Five Guys restaurant which is sad because it is usually pleasant. I think they need to do a better job of screening their employees and hire employees with better people skills or train them better on customer service.

Their fresh fries are so good, and the helping is huge. A large order easily feeds my hungry hungry hubby and I, especially along with their burgers. All toppings are free, and they have a lot of them to chose from. Staff was very friendly, service was pretty quick considering they make everything fresh, which is nice for a burger place. I haven't gotten a milkshake yet, I was too stuffed lol.

Tuesday, June 7, 2022 At 9:29 p.m. we stopped in for burgers and I ordered a bacon cheeseburger. They didn’t put bacon on it so I went back I asked for some bacon and they gave me cold bacon, so cold that the grease had turned white. I asked for fresh bacon and had to argue with the manager that that is not fresh bacon just because you made it this morning. Then she proceeds to get the bacon from the back of the store she is talking to her coworker and rolling her eyes. Pretty disappointed with my visit and probably will go to one of the other burger joints in Eden Street Commons next time
