This place is listed by numerous places as a Bakery. As the name Implies, dessert plate, you can get a variety of sweets, but dont expect donuts or bread. With that said, you will not be disappointed with anything you order here because its homemade and made with love, and all fresh ingredients. The service was exceptional and the experience was fantastic. The workers were more than happy to talk to you in length about desserts and their passion for baking. So great to have a small business on a main street strip that is not owned by a corporation. The desserts here were off the chart. The blueberry square was so good and the coffee had so much flavor. I will be going out of my way to come back for a visit for sure. Great job Dessert Plate.

Food: 5/5 - A traditional place that makes the BEST cakes! But they are not just cakes, they are cookies, breakfast items, and treats galore! The coffee is absolutely the best and better than Starbucks!! Service: 5/5 - These women are so tentative with their care in what you want to order or what you just want to take with you on the go. This place is the definition of a wonderful homey place that should not be slept on any longer! X-Factor: 5/5 - Do you see a traditional "mom and pop" type of bakery anymore? The answer is a NO! No preservatives just baked goods made from scratch. How could anyone not like this place??

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! I've ordered cakes multiple times. Their buttercream is delicious. Scones are wonderful. Seasonal things are great and special, such as all kinds of apple/peach things during apple/peach season. And the cookies...all good, and they have some special ones you don't find other places, such as ginger chocolate. Not cheap...but not cheap in quality. Well worth it. YUMMY!

Really good. You can taste the freshness. I had this cookie, it was a mashup of dried berries, nuts and chocolate chips and it tasted so good- like a smashed warm granola bar. I also had the cake-slice of the day, it was light and airy, not too sweet, with just the right amount of lemon spread between the layers.

SO SO awesome!!! I went there for the first time in January and LOVED it, the new Owner, Erin, is awesome! they made me a cake for a graduation and not only was it so beautiful, but I can honestly say it was the best tasting cake I've ever had. They have a bunch of options of what type of cake, filling, and frosting and they helped me choose. Amazing quality, I'll be back.

I am incredibly upset to write a bad review for somewhere that has been one of my favorite places for years now. I was so taken back by how rude and unhelpful the Dessert Plate Bakery was on my last visit. I have been a customer since they opened and stayed even since the new owner took over, in addition I have referred all my family, friends, and customers to this bakery. I simply requested 5 sugar cookies within a 4 days notice, and came prepared with images and examples which was standard to every other order I had ever placed. I was given a flat out no and told that there was not enough time for the order. I told them I would even pay double and all I got was "no I'm working 80 hours a week." I was very disappointed so needless to say I will not be returning to their establishment. I have owned and operated a business in Somerville for nearly 30 years and I would have never treated a customer in such a manner.
