Fatty's Seafood - Slidell

I'm in the area on a business trip and i decided to check this place out. The place was not business but it took a while to be seated because the hostess was nowhere in sight. After being seated, I waited for almost 20mins without a waiter acknowledging my presence or even taking my drink order. After just getting out of the gym, I was too hungry to keep on waiting. After looking around for the hostess, I saw her chilling in one of the booths across the room. That was it for me! She didn't even notice that I left. I found Cheders around the corner, im sitting here eating my food right now. Completely opposite experience, Madison is going to be getting a big fat tip for such a great service. But I'm very disappointed with Fatty's. I was really looking forward to trying their food. Please do better.

The first time I went here with family on a Saturday, they were packed, the food was great, and our service was superb. I was really impressed. My husband and I went back for a date night on a weekday and the service was the worst we’ve ever received. All the waitresses kept hiding in the kitchen, hanging out. My gumbo was brought to me with half of it spilled onto the plate underneath the bowl. The person who brought it to me put it down and walked away without saying anything, and I wanted salt to season it. I waited until anyone came out onto the floor, more than fifteen minutes later, and my gumbo was cold by the time I could ask for salt. For over fifteen minutes, the waitresses and the hostess were all in the back hanging out and that happened multiple times that night. My husband also ordered an alcoholic beverage with his water/normal drink order and it came about ten minutes after our food came. He didn’t even want it anymore, but there was no worker in the whole restaurant to even cancel the drink. So we were charged for it still. There was two other tables, one of which had 15-20 elderly folks who were very drunk and kept screaming at the top of their lungs and making the atmosphere horrible. I couldn’t hear my husband talk across the table from me. Just terrible service. I guess the takeaway is go when they’re busy or on the weekend when the workers are forced to do their jobs, because on weekdays it’s social time for the workers.

I so wanted to give these guys 5 stars after reading their ambitious & exciting menu options! Alas, my 3 star rating is based on the taste & quality of the food I was so excited to try. 😭 While the prices were reasonable (based on ingredients used for dishes), service was great, ingredients good, and flavor potential tremendous it was a disappointing visit. Somehow both my fiance and my entire course were simultaneously bland and extremely salty (we both had the nachos for an app & the fried seafood platter as our entrees. ) Really wish this woulda been a new favorite!
