El Jalapeno

Disappointed. The food was very low quality...and not just from the perspective that it wasn't authentic Mexican, but it was poor in general. We had serious concerns about hygiene with our meal. There were peas, green beans, potatoes and other "filler" ingredients mixed in with our food...in a carne asada taco, in the ground beef, etc. The food also came almost a full hour late, was cold and wasn't the correct order. When we called management to let them know, they were very rude. Insisting that the food was "fine" and that we just didn't understand Mexican food. Really ridiculous. We ended up asking for a partial refund (our Jarritos were fine), and they made a huge fuss about it and made my husband visit their restaurant in person the next day in order to request a refund. They didn't offer any receipt to show that a refund was given and told us to go home and wait. It's been over a week and still no refund. My husband called today to inquire about whether the refund would be granted or not. The restaurant owner yelled at him and told him that he wouldn't be able to help us. He sent through the refund through Square and can't control when it processes. I suppose he could have told us how many days though? Regardless, the whole experience has confirmed for us that we will never eat here again. Very unprofessional.

We live in the McKennan park area stop in often to get a consistently amazing meal at a great price. The kids adore the variety and the chance to customize their taco. I appreciate that the food is home cooked and made on-site from fresh ingredients. Maybe you've not had ground beef with potato in your taco - try it! Or go with chorizo, pork or either of the chicken choices. Give it a try, you'll find yourself headed back. Have a frosty beer with a spiced, salted rim while you wait. Again, not typical but amazing none-the-less. enjoy
