Brown Bear Cafe

I loved the historic feel of the place, there was so much to look at. We ordered wings for an appetizer they were crunchy and the sauce on them was the perfect spice. The chicken sandwich was delicious the lettuce and tomatoes gave it the crunch making it perfect!!! The patty melt on rye was cooked to a perfect medium rare. They put bacon melted between the cheese and they cut grilled onions into long stringy pieces. Definitely recommend planning a trip to Silverton to try their food out!

Bear cafe was VERY GOOD. We rode the Silverton train, we arrived late and only a few stores, 3 cafe was open due to it being the end of the season. Needless to say, it was packed. My husband and I had the Reuben...best I've ever had. The waitresses worked as I see them shifting from table to table. We sat with a couple to expedite being seated. Food ...good....service EXCELLENT! The main waitress whistled loudly during lunch to inform us the times for the bus has changed for those who were taking it back. (That part I liked, b/c she didnt have to say anything to begin with) views were breathtaking

Western feeling environment with old saloon style bar. Service was decent. My green chile cheeseburger was really tasty. It was flame broiled & we had a view of the flames coming off the grill in the kitchen. That made the burger for me. The green chile was ok but not super flavorful. Their soup of the day was phenomenal. It was homemade & delicious & came as my side but was pretty small. My friend got the fish sandwich special & was quite disappointed. It was a large filet but was obviously a frozen fish that had been deep fried. It was dried out & not that great.

An absolutely fantastic place to eat and I highly recommend the reuben. Our server, Alice, was kind and friendly, and was obviously enjoying herself. She went above and beyond to make our experience wonderful. The atmosphere is akin to Lambert's Cafe, for you Midwesterners like me. Or like a smaller Cracker Barrel.
