~~NEW Aug 27. 2019~~ My husband and I celebrated our 13th Anniversary Aug 27, 2019, and because we love the food and enjoy Kamal, we decided to have dinner at Aladdins. As usual, Kamal was friendly and inviting. I ordered the Shish Tawook Chicken Curry and my husband had the Kafta Kebab Beef. Both entrees came with that enormous dinner salad with his secret dressing, delightful melt in the mouth rice with a dash of cinnamon topping it as well as their homemade hummus. First of all, let me say, I have NEVER enjoyed hummus, I have tried it on several occasions, at several different places; the texture was unusually weird to me and the taste wasn't anything I cared to repeat. Because my dinner came with hummus, I decided to try it again last night, and Kamals Hummus was splendid. In fact, both of our dinners were delightful. We topped it off with Baklava to go. The only thing I regret about that Baklava was I didn't have a piece for today! Kamal, you are a breath of fresh air, in our world full of turmoil and turbulence it is always enjoyable seeing someone who appears to be caring and kindhearted. Give Aladdin a try, if for no other reason do it knowing that you are supporting a family-owned and run business; and don't forget the Baklava =D -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm starting this review off by saying if for no other reason, dine at this restaurant for the sheer friendliness of the owner Kamal. He was funny, very hospitable, and easy going and made us feel very comfortable. Ok, on with my review. Aladdin's Palace is in a somewhat different location, meaning I have driven by this restaurant thousands of times, and it honestly didn't dawn on me that there was a fantastic little restaurant here located between a prosthetic/orthotic store and an eye clinic; so when my husband suggested trying it last night, I was all aboard with the idea. We showed up around 4 pm, pretty quiet in the restaurant beings we were the only ones there for a little bit. The first thing I noticed was how lovely the tables had been set up; how clean and aesthetically pleasing the inside looked. Creative wall art and pieces of authentic decor graced the walls and corners of this little restaurant. Camille was prompt on giving us menus and asked for drink orders. Stumped on what to order because there were many yummy sounding items to choose from, including vegetarian dishes; we finally decided on Cabbage Rolls for me and a Gyro for my husband; both entrees came with salad or soup and fresh pitas. We both chose a salad and what a large side salad it was, with a tasty homemade dressing that had a hint of mint. I really can't explain the deliciously unique taste of my cabbage rolls, other than I was extremely pleased with them as they (and the rice served) practically melted in my mouth. I could tell that a lot of love and hard work went into making them. My husband was equally as pleased with his Gyro, the special tahini sauce, and all the grilled veggies that laid on top of the seasoned beef, no tough meat there, just pure goodness! Although Aladdin's Palace shares parking with the other businesses, there is plenty of parking due to the fact Trader Joe and Bed Bath & Beyond is steps away. Unfortunately, There was no need to visit the ladies room so I am unable to give my opinion on them. So, when you look at the menu, and you're a tiny bit sticker shocked remember, there is a lot of quality homemade food being made here, ample portions, it's a family owned and run business, and the owner is truly one of a kind! Definitely give it a try!
The entrance may look crazy, but the food, the environment, and the service were fantastic! Everything was delicious and prepared with meticulous care. Sides that are usually just added to supplement a main dish in other restaurants were cooked with the same care and deliciousness as the main course. It's obvious that this chef loves his craft, and I'm glad I got the chance to eat here.
My only regret is that I didn't find this place sooner. The owner and waitress were attentive and helpful. The food was so amazing. The best lentil soup I have ever had. My daughter tried to use her finger to get the las drop out of the bowl. (She is 5) We had the house combination and everything was cooked to perfection and made with love. All the other people in the dining room were regulars who have been coming to this place for 20 years. I am happy I found this place and you will be too.
