This is almost a weekly spot for me! love the flavor of the combo plate (chicken/gyro) and the hummus...i must say i missed this week to try the halal guys place and hands down Athena is still the best!!!
This place was amazing. Not only was the food good, but staff was great as well. I went this evening with a friend and tried the lamb kabob. Also, ordered grape leaves. It's definitely a place, I would recommend. Also, when there try the grape leaves! ☺️
Went there to eat on valentines nite with my beautiful fiance, the food was different not the spices I am used to. I really liked the change! You must try their Lebanese tea!! I solid 7 out of 10
Great food and immaculate service! Some of the best ethnic restaurants in town. The ambience is calm yet casual. A plus is they have "BYOB" policy without any cork charge. Can't get better. We will be back regularly!
Great place to get a more authentic Greek experience in Shreveport. The side salad is amazing. You can tell the dressing is homemade and it's wonderful! Also has my favorite chicken gyro, compared to other Greek places in town.
Awesome food and service. I loved the place so much that I want to come here every time I visit Shrevport. Akshay, the manager, is so friendly and helpful.
Having been to the Middle East, this place is about as close to authentic as it'll get for Louisiana. My wife and I had the sampler appetizer and the combination kabob. It was all delicious! The only complaint was the pita was not made there. It looked store bought. The meats and vegetables were grilled and seasoned well. The three different "sauces", tzatziki, hummus, and babaganoush all go very well with the meats and vegetables. We really enjoyed this restaurant. We just wished we would've known that it was bring your own BOOZE!!! Enjoy!
Good food, ok prices. Good middle eastern authentic food. good hummus and best falafel in shreveport

Absolutely delicious!!! Best Lebanese/Greek food I have had in years! You will not be disappointed!!!
Don't let the facade fool you. At first, the multi-colored "Athena" sign, cerulean decor, and Cheers-esque motif left over from the previous establishment seemed to be omens to what we thought would be a forgettable dining experience. However, after the first bites of hummus, fried halloumi, and baba ghanouj, we were glad that we decided to trust the other Urbanspooners who recommedned Athena.
The baba ghanouj had a savory smokey flavor (all done in-house and made from scratch), the halloumi was herbaceous and satisfying, the hummus came in generous portions with plenty of garlic and paprika, and our server provided ample amounts of warm pita bread to lap up the appetizers.
For main courses, the falafel croquettes were crispy and flavorful and the lamb kabobs (medium rare) were tender and cooked to perfection. After dinner, our server recommended the Athena speciality dessert. In keeping with the theme of the night, at first hearing the description of the treat (sweet sheep's cheese served in a flaky pastry covered in cinnamon and honey) our instinct was telling us to go with the baklava; however, the first bite of the warm, sweet, cinnamony pastry made us glad our server James recommended it to us.
In summary, great food, great service, and a great experience!
Best food in Shreveport, and they have the best hookah too. I really enjoy the hookah night every Saturday.
The food is very authentic. It is just delicious!
My husband and I stopped by here randomly for an early dinner. Place was pretty empty. We sat ourselves and the waitress was very nice. We got the sampler for two and also an order of falafel. The salad dressing was super tasty. The falafel were good but a little undercooked inside. Everything was flavorful, fresh tasting, and the portions were pretty good. We didn’t have leftovers but we both had plenty to eat. We don’t live close but if we’re in the area again we will definitely come back by.
Lamb lula, lamb kabob, rice, grape leaves... Best I've had in a long time. Very flavorful, texture and cook on the meat was great. The grape leaves were soft and warm. Came on back to back days because I needed more! I am in town for for for several weeks, but I will definitely be back for more. Glad I found this place.
This place always has the tastiest food and the best customer service! Portions are huge and prices are reasonable. My teenage son always begs to go here.
Let me start out by saying how amazing it is that the menu includes vegan, vegetarian, and halal dining options that are clearly marked.
The service was great and the waitstaff was very attentive to our particular dietary needs.
And lastly the food was delicious. I ordered the lamb chops cooked medium and they came out perfectly. We can’t wait to go back!
We really enjoyed everything! We will definitely be back. The food was so flavorful and delicious.
Ordered the Veggitarian plate! Excellent! FRESH GREEN VEGGIES for the tabbouleh, Baba ganoush ☆♡ my personal fave☆, Hummus, veggie grape leaves, and pita bread! Service was great! I ordered to go, but the atmosphere of the restaurant was clean and pleasant. My belly thanks you!
First of all, we walked in at 8:15 and were greeted happily. Our server was outstanding! The food is amazing aside from the salad, which was a little wilted. Still, the hummus is delicious! The gyro and chicken meat are also delicious. Pita bread is obviously handmade. Great authentic Greek food.
A++ Looking to treat yourself?! Athena's exceeded all expectations!! We started with the appetizer sampler. I ordered lamb chops, my husband ordered the beef k bob, with double meat, and I ordered my chops with an extra skewer of lamb shoulder. This was all followed by tiramisu and cheesecake with Turkish coffee.
The appetizers were great, especially that beef falafel. Even the chick pea kibby was incredible, crispy outside, but still moist inside, and not overly salty... and I don't usually care for chick peas. The lamb was all roasted to perfection (a true medium rare!), the house salad is tossed perfectly in their homemade dressing with fresh feta sprinkle on top, and the tiramisu was perfect!... (Lovely layers, and not too sweet), especially paired with the Turkish coffee!
Our waitress Debra, was attentive, but not overly chatty. Definitely ask for her, too. The only con was that we forgot to have the main dish slowed down, so we ended up with too much food on the table at one time (this is not uncommon, as we order our main dishes grilled rare and medium rare, and we like to gently saunter through our meals out).
