Sawadee Thai Cuisine

We drove by Sequim and decided to stop for dinner on Saturday evening, then we found Sawadee. We ordered Goong Ka Tiem (fried prawns with garlic) and basil fried rice. Look at those humongous prawns, and there were at least 8-10 of them!! The fried rice is also on point. The chef/owner told me she’s been serving this neighborhood since 1992. Even though I probably won’t visit this place again (because I live in Los Angeles), I wanted to let you know how excellent and honest this restaurant is. They definitely deserve 5 stars!

I got seafood pad see ew. There were a lot of varieties of seafood, and I liked it. The flavors are good. The only thing I dislike is they added some sort of salty beans. It’s too salty and I don’t think it compliments the dish at all. My mother-in-law liked her spicy fish. It’s supposed to be pan fried but it seemed like it was deep fried. My husband loved his garlic shrimp. Sadly the portion was really small. Not enough for a grown adult man. I’ve loved trying the custard black sticky rice. Such a unique dessert! The mango sticky rice did not disappoint. Would try the desserts again if I ever come back to visit. Service was good. Server was new, so she forgot to bring our lemon wedges for the water. We don’t blame her though because she was the only one serving plenty of customers.

Well we'll even if I would want to give this place a 5 star, I absolutely can't. The reason is not their food but the wait time. The restaurant is for sure short with staff and I don't understand why they can't add people. The food is really good and to be honest I was not expecting such a good restaurant in Sequim. I was pleasantly surprised. However they need to add people to run their restaurant or people will keep getting frustrated. I saw atleast 3 people who walked back after waiting for 30+ minutes for take out. Even if you are not hungry they will make you wait for so long that you will get hungry. Maybe it was peak hours or a bad day, I don't know. All I know is they should be equipped to handle as number of people as they have number of table. If not just ask people to be on wait-list. That's a better model in my opinion.

Good food! We ordered the spicy mussels, level 3 and tofu pad thai level 2. The spice levels were appropriate. The service was slow, especially when trying to be seated. After seated, it improved. There were only two waitresses for dinner rush. Maybe there should have been 3? Anyway, definitely recommend for Sequim.
