Fortunately, this was my first experience with sushi. My sister was always the fan, so she brought be along on her birthday two years ago. That day changed my life.
First, the atmosphere. It's a little hole in the wall off a main street, and it's only open at night. Mystique obtained. Inside is a gorgeous modern, dark theme, with influences from all over without losing the Japanese feel. The best non-taste aesthetic is Taka, the (only?) executive chef. He's so friendly and sweet, without being obtrusive at all. Yes, things take time at Shima, but the best way to spend your money should be allowed some patience. Besides, it's a comfortable wait, if you ask me.
I've had quite a decent variety in sushi in two years, and Shima holds position as the best. I won't try and describe perfection on the tongue. Go. Get some of everything. You will not miss the money.
I've explored less of the Hawaiian food selection, but it's very homely. In a good way, like mac & cheese.
Definitely worth the very very long wait, exceptional sushi, great price. They say those that wait longest get best sushi!
Good food, reasonable priced with friendly staff. Definitely our neighborhood go-to place for sushi.
Sometime slow to deliver, but really good sushi for a reasonable cost.
I love the food here and have always been treated well.
Delicious food and awesome, friendly staff!!!
