Cooking class, so does this review count?. Let me preface this review with the following information:

Groupon for their cooking class was purchased 70.00 for two people. Beverages and tax are extra and not included in the groupon. Expect about 45.00 extra on top.

Showed up early, and was told to come back when they were ready for us (another class was not quite done eating) but decided to walk up the street for a while. When we returned we were greeted by 3 different people all wandering around looking quizzical. We were seated and they took our drink orders, after about 15 or 20 minutes other folks started to show up and we got the class going. So here's where my review gets a little funky. We made our own food according to their recipes and then shared the food with12 other diners in the group. So, break it down people. We got an appetizer, a soup, an entrée, a side dish and a dessert for 35.00 / person. While DOING THE COOKING ourselves (with the assistance of their head chef)

Staff - Friendly and fun.

Ambiance - romantic and dark

Cost - without groupon, a bit expensive for my taste

Their head guy, Jeremy, was awesome. Good delegation of what needed to get done, good direction, great at conversation and explaining what we did. Good at explaining WHY we were doing things in the order we were doing them. By the end of the meal, I ended up having: Two Gnocchi, bowl of zuppa, two pieces of lasagna, about 2 cups of blanched carrots, banana's foster.

Bottom line - I'll absolutely be back. I love to cook, I love the interaction they provided, but mostly, it hinged on the individual giving the class. If it were someone who didn't care about cooking, or was hesitant, pretensions, it would have been terrible. He made it great, and we'll absolutely be back to try out their mid-winter class.

My husband and I had a groupon and thus happened upon this delightful, charming gem. Amazing, fresh food. Everything was delicious and very obviously homemade. Our service was also wonderful. Don't miss this little romantic spot for an authentic Italian experience. We'll be back...even without a groupon!

Dine Here again? Absolutely. . .YES!!. I have dined at Al Boccalino on two occasions as of this entry, the first on Aug-12, the second on Aug-24. The waiters and waitress provide superb service!

Luigi has incorporated his talent to provide extraordinary tasty cuisine. His cooking classes are well reviewed, I have observed two of them, watched the participants enjoy the practice and demonstration. The participants have seemed to thoroughly enjoy the demonstration. I think the time is coming to participate in one of his classes!

This review pertains to the date of Aug-24-2011: My order was one of the specials of the day; Risotto with Italian Sausage, Snow peas and Fresh Leeks. Desert consisted of Tiramisu and a very smooth and rich coffee! The entire meal was . . . delicious, appetizing, delectable, and simply YUMMY! I almost cannot wait to dine here again!!

Found this place on accident..... We just had some family in town who are picky eaters. Trying to find a restaurant to take them to is really difficult. I found Al Boccalino by accident while meeting up with them down by the water and decided that since they had a chicken parm and a pasta w/ meatballs (simple enough for my picky eaters) that this was where we were going to eat. I am so glad that we did! We were warmly greeted by the chef who doted on my mother-in-law and her sister. I am a big fan of amuse bouche but the oily olives and peppers that we received were not that appetizing. I didn't let that spoil my night.....the Portabello Fries made up for it. Yum! My lamb came out a little overcooked (I ordered MR) but it was still delicious, I am just a sucker for a lamb chop. The chicken parm was fantastic. Even though there were a couple of things that could have been better I am definitely willing to go back and try out some of their other menu items. You can't beat the price of their small plates....and their house red is pretty tasty. The setting is cozy and warm and the service was good. Is it 5 star, no, but when you're up for a casual Italian meal in a comfortable setting I would say this place is worth it.

This was THE BEST restaurant experience I have ever had. The food is delicious. The " Italian table" is best way to go. It is everything I grew up hearing about grandma Fini's kitchen. A surprise for every course of the meal. Anyone who likes Italian Food MUST eat here. Bucket list worthy. It's just awesome!
