The Hakata style ramen is delicious! I've tried just about every ramen joint in the city, and this is by far my favorite.
Everyone should stop eating ramen everywhere else and just wait for Betsutenjin to open at 5:30. They have the best tasting broth, deeply rich and porky without any added milk to make it that silky color, so much so that I get grumpy now when trying other places and wasting the calories. Get the hakata-style combo, or the prawn special if you're feeling particularly decadent.
This place is amazing, the Ramen is super tasty! They have 2 Ramens to choose from and you have the option to add any toppings or you can buy the Ramen with the sides. They have a wide range of alcoholic beverages and some non alcoholic drinks but unfortunately when I went They were all out. I recommend this place alot if you like Ramen
Place was recommended by a friend and I’m grateful I listened. Ramen was cooked well and the broth was rich without being too much. Mushrooms were also cooked well with a small crunch still there. Favorite part was the pork! Had the right amount of fat and was super flavorful! 10/10 would recommend coming back again and definitely would recommend to others.
Similar atmosphere like Japan. The food selection is limited, but they carry a lot of different Japanese drinks. Overall, it is not bad to give a try if you haven't been to Japan.
Pretty small restaurant overall, but based on its location not too busy. Lots of single bar seats.
They really only have two mains which are hakata style or prawn Miso. I got the hakata combo with gyoza.
The gyoza is a bit disappointing, not in taste but they are very small.
The ramen was pretty solid. Really good noodles and a pretty okay broth. Luckily they have an assortment of condiments to make it better. Like togarashi and garlic chips.
I think without the condiments it's a pretty boring bowl but the togarashi really puts it up a notch.
Also wish the bowls came with a bit more broth.
The broth is next level! It is a rich and creamy pork bone broth. There is a reason why they have stayed open with only 2 main options to choose. You cant go wrong with either option.
One of the best ramen that I’ve had in Seattle and the experience was unique even among all the ramen spots in Seattle! I recommend the hakata style ramen and remember to put the extra spices in that are available on your table. The restaurant itself is very small, intimate, and private at the same time. Highly recommend Betsutenjin to everyone!
Food
I got the hakata style ramen and loved it. The broth is pork bone broth. It is clean, rich, not oily, not salty, and delicious. I would add in the spices available on the table to customize the broth to how you like it. The ramen noodles were also really good and firm so that you can slurp them right up. The meat on top was fatty enough and just enhanced the dish overall. I definitely want to come back here and try the other ramens on the menu as well since I loved my first time so much. The menu is limited and they do the few dishes very, very well.
We also got potstickers for the table and I loved how the bottoms were so crispy. The soy sauce is so random because it’s just packet soy sauce.
Atmosphere
Casual, laid back ambiance that is very private for your party. There is a curtain that blocks off your table from the rest of the restaurant and gives you lots of privacy and helps block out noise. The table itself feels very intimate though. It is a unique dining experience and I can imagine that people eat ramen like this in Japan.
Pricing
Ramen prices are also very reasonable for the quality of ramen that you get. Prices are comparable, maybe lightly more depending on what dish you get, to other ramen spots. The food and experience is very worth the price you pay.
Service
Service was good. When you first enter, you put in your order at the window and then they bring your food out to your table. The staff was friendly and helpful in answering any questions.
Other
The restaurant is pretty small so there can be a long wait so be prepared for that.
Betsutenjin Ramen is a small business with an intimate, authentic setting. They make their broth with natural Pork Bone and you can definitely taste it from their ramen. They only have 2 types of ramen that they serve (Hakata Style and Prawn Miso).
---
We were able to get seated immediately on a Sunday noon and food service is really fast (around 5 mins for whole order to be served)!
---
We both got the Hakata Style Combo and tried both of the sides. The Gyoza was too soft on the inside and I thought it was okay, but the Lobster Salad is great!
---
They have 1 restroom and it was fairly clean. No dedicated parking spots but there's plenty on the streets.
---
It was nice to try this ramen place as it definitely feels more authentic than others in the area. Their ramen is great but I don't think it's the best in Cap Hill.
Fairly busy on a Tuesday night. You order at the front and get guided to your seat. The seating area is secluded and you can pull the curtains once you do get your food to eat in private.
The ramen is a little pricey, but I'm still glad it comes with a gooey ramen egg, cooked to perfection.
We both bought the Hakata set with extra gyozas. Gyozas came with a dipping sauce.
The ramen itself was good, but the broth could've been more flavourful. It is made of 100% pork bones and we enjoyed the taste overall.
Service was great!
Hakata style light tonkotsu ramen! Liked it that the broth is tasty but not overly heavy
Open till midnight so perfect place to drop by after watching a baseball/ hockey game.
Given that there were only 2 things on the menu, I have to say, both were delicious! I especially enjoyed the broth of both the Hakata Style Ramen and the Prawn Miso Ramen.
The restaurant itself is a little hard to find, as it's one tiny unassuming door and the decor was dimly lit and a little small. Despite all this, it still somehow felt perfect. Very homey, cozy, and Japanese. Would highly recommend and almost certainly will be back!
