I was getting my car worked on next door. The mechanic told me this was a nice place to sit and wait for the work to be done the nice lady Marta made me feel welcome and did not hassle me to leave after my beverage was gone (side note good drinks also) so if you want a nice place to sit and wait come on in and enjoy and thank you Marta for the good beverage and galato

Thoroughly enjoyed this place. Non-pretentious atmosphere, comfortable seating and good menu. They offer breakfast and lunch burritos, pre-made sandwiches, a few gelatos and a nice pastry assortment. I tried the chocolate and almond croissant, very tasty. This is not a place for coffee snobs or anyone who would label themself a “foodie.”

I like this place a lot. The coffee is strong, the atmosphere is friendly, the happy hour (grumpy hour) deals are good, the live music nights are pleasant and intimate. I hope this place keeps doing its thing for a long while.

This is my favorite neighborhod coffee house! Locally owned, great coffee, and breakfast burritos and family (and dog!) friendly :) Has open mic/music in evenings. A great place to chill in Ballard!

Although it's likely to close in March, Grumpy D's has been my favorite place to go for three years. The customer service is incredible. The place has a cozy, grungy feeling, with it's mismatched chairs and constant cycling showcases of local artists. The coffee is divine, and the chairs are welcoming. (Also they love dogs). If you have a chance to enjoy this place before it goes away, I guarantee you'll enjoy the experience.

Great local coffee house. In addition to the usual coffee drinks they have a good selection of teas and other drinks, snacks and etc. There is often live music including an open mic on Wednesday nights. Very cozy atmosphere, and welcoming staff. It's a pity that it will be closing soon.

Love this coffee shop! Locally owned, dog and kid friendly, casual and supportive venue for up and coming local musicians, super warm and friendly community feel. Plus, their sandwiches are awesome, they have yummy gluten free treats, they sell fainting goat ice cream, and I love their coffee!

Great breve. Wish we had been here on the day they do open mic, it seems like they have a good setup for it! Chairs were also insanely comfy. Best part was probably the muffin top. SO GOOD. And the gal working was anything but "grumpy".

This place gets better and better every year. I've lived next to this coffee shop for the last few years and Dan and his crew are the nicest and always make my coffee perfectly. Their food menu is great for breakfast or lunch, and their new 'adult' drink menu and new late hours are wonderful for getting evening work done, or for socializing with a friend without venturing into the bar scene. They make you feel like family and I highly recommend anyone looking for a good place to hang out and work, socialize or take break with the kids to check out Grumpy D's!

This place is everything I want in a Cafe. Good service, delicious food and great coffee! I highly recommend the ham and egg sandwich. I don't know what kind of magic they put in there but those sandwiches are amazing! :)
