Great place for a beverage and baked goods. I especially like the ham biscuits and green tea muffins. Excellent croissants too.
Cute and popular bakery with coffee drinks and alternative milks, great pastry selection (sweet, savory, gluten-free, all good!), and a nice outdoor patio that has bee and butterfly attracting plants.
My daughter and I are regulars at Fresh Flours West Seattle. We love their bake goods! I love their oat latte. Friendly staff, delicious food, tasty coffee, decent prices and great outdoor space perfect for a Seattle’s sunny day.
The area was cute and the staff was very friendly. I took my pastries home with me to enjoy. The highlights were: the Almond Croissant and the Ham & Cheddar Croissant. They had a buttery, flakey, crisp exterior with a tender, well-flavored interior. They satisfied my want for something sweet and for something savory. The cheddar was melty, ooey, gooey, with little bits of caramelized ham on the ends that were SO good. And the Almond Scone had a great thick layer of almond paste along the bottom that held its own against the layers of flakey pastry -- I wanted another one of each!
The items that were underwhelming for me were the Peach Danish, the CranAppleWalnut tart, and the MushroomLeekSausage Pithivier. The Peach Danish was lacking in cream cheese filling. Maybe it's just a preference of mine to have a good solid amount of filling, but it was a scant amount buried under canned peach slices (not a dig, just a statement -- peaches aren't in season right now so canned is the only option) on an acceptable pastry. It wasn't bad by any means, but I wasn't wow'ed.. it was just.. acceptable! The leek/sausage/mushroom pithivier needs salt and Seasoning! A dash of salt and pepper would go so far for this underseasoned morsel! And it was really sad because I wanted to enjoy it so much, but it was just.. meh. Beautiful presentation and great pastry with underseasoned filling is like a super attractive person with an ugly spouse.. you can't understand, so you just leave it alone. And finally, we have the Apple Cranberry Walnut tart. Once again, just lacking in that bit of pizzazz that makes you go, "Mmmm," when you bite into it. Just kind of bland again. Not very sweet, no discernable spice, just.. okay. I think that's a good way to sum up the last three dishes.. they just didn't have that little extra bit that made you go, "Mmm," when you took a bite. I might recommend tasting the fillings as they are being prepared (if that isn't happening) to make sure they are well seasoned and have that extra something special to them.
All in all! I would go back for the croissants because they were REALLY freaking good. I enjoyed them throughly. They more than made up for their underseasoned counterparts.
It is nice Masjid with old traditional building with red bricks, it seems to be it was church
We were on our way out of town and stopped because it looked nice. We were pleasantly surprised. The staff were very kind and helpful. Our pastries, especially the big cookies, were delicious. The croissants could have been cooked a bit longer and were slightly doughy but maybe we caught them on an off day. We’ll be back!
The indoor cafe space accessible to customers is fairly small, however they have a huge outdoor seating area just outside the bakery in a private area--a great place to chat with a friend on a nice day or read. It would be nice if it had some umbrellas for the sun though. The mocha I ordered was okay. It had too thin a body for my taste, but that's fine since this is a bakery and I came for the breads and pastries. Speaking of which, their walnut chocolate chip cookies are great; well balanced and not too sweet. The croissants have a golden, crispy exterior and fairly fluffy interior. At home I warmed up one of their chocolate croissants and it probably ranks within the top 5--maybe even top 3--I've had in Seattle. I'll update this review on my next visit after trying more of their pastries.
Parking is available nearby in one of the lots along 17th Ave SW or along the main road, 16th Ave SW.
I recently visited the West Seattle location early Saturday morning. The service was great! I was greeted upon arrival, given recommendations for pastries and drinks, and received my order within minutes.
The cashier was very friendly and started conversation with me during our short interaction. Very easy to talk to. The store was also clean and decorated appropriately. Everything looked very nice.
I ordered a Blueberry Lemon Curd Danish and an iced 16oz Chai. Both were delicious. I highly recommend the Danish. I wish there were larger cup sizes!
Definitely will be coming back to try different pastries and drinks. Thanks for the great experience!
Fresh Flours Bakery is a great coffee house that is a few blocks away from our home. This bakery creates amazing pastry’s and other savory delights. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. You can watch the bakers making the pastry’s while you wait for your coffee. All around a great experience.
Very small, very packed, inside was all full I had to sit outside. It was cold and windy, but the sun was shining and the birds provided entertainment. Good thing I hadn't come to do any work.. My drink was pretty good, my cookie was alright. I wish I had asked for the cookie to be heated up and my drink to be in a Togo cup. But I sat outside and quickly drank my quickly cooling coffee. I was also unsure if I leave my cup to be picked up or I put it away in the bin myself.
Friendly gal, but very small and very cramped when I went.
