Tacos Guaymas

Tacos Guaymas, Too Good: Seattle is not lacking when it comes to Mexican food in particular. A selection of a wide variety of quality and costs. Tacos Guaymas is a special one. A little costly, but definitely not slacking on the quality. We often get the burritos from here, and the first time we got them we were floored by the size. They are as long as a newborn, the tortillas are tasty and rarely prone to ripping. The ingredients have always been fresh. The guacamole is average, a little heavy on the onions. And the horchata has been rather watered down and disappointing most of our times getting food from here. But the burritos are exceptional.

Short version: the food is gross, but the service is awesome. It's not what you're expecting from a Mexican restaurant. The entrees that come with rice and beans come with whole red beans, not refried beans. In addition to being weird, the liquid off the beans makes everything else on the plate soggy. I had the chicken floutas with rice and beans, and my girlfriend had the Tacos. None of it was good. The Tacos were just okay, the beans were weird and runny, the rice was mushy. I don't normally write bad reviews but the food was so underwhelming I wish we had gone to one of the many other good restaurants in this area. It has the food version of "hidden fees", almost nothing comes with cheese, and a "side" of cheese is $3. Other than that the prices are higher or similar to other, much better Mexican places (like Taqueria Tequila in ballard or my personal favorite, Taqueria el Sabor in Shoreline) The service was amazing, though. Our waitress was perfect, our water glasses were always full. Too bad about the food.
