The neighborhood bar where everyone knows your name....well maybe not EVERYONE....AND maybe not MY name. But there are plenty of folks that are regulars. I was surprised by the low rating although it looks as if part of it may just be a LACK of votes. They have been in this location for a number of years, I would have expected to see/read more reviews.
Give it a try. I almost always get the Whiskey Crab soup, and have tried just about every potato they have offered (Irish Nachos...YUM!!!) Have tried the Cubano (cilantro and jalapanos!) and the Pesto Chicken (anything and pesto yum, add bacon to that and double yum!) It is good ole fashion Irish grub, in an Irish pub. Family friendly....they kinda have to be - owner has SIX kids of his own! So grab the kids and head over, it's worth it!
Wonderful experience. Another happy hour at Mc Gilvras another wonderful experience . 1/2 price wine by the glass(the waterbrook melange is my favourite) 1/2 price Hummus plate which by the way is huge and the best view of lake Washington in the city . What every neighborhood pub should be .
The quality of the staf. The food, the ambience & the entertainment were only surpassed by the quality of the staff.
Went in for a beer, bartender was great. Nice place. I recommend this place.
McGilvra's is an adorable eatery near the waterfront of Madison Park. Parking is accessible, as are the views. The service was prompt and kind; my partner and I were surprised by how quickly we were seated on Sunday. A standout dish included the bourbon lobster bisque, while the crab benedicts and rueben were ok. I loved how crab bisque has strands of crab rather than chunks, which genuinely elevates this dish. Some of the pastrami inside the rueben was slightly overcooked and hard, but the composite flavors are all-on-all correct. The crab benedict was void of crab and drowned by the sauce. However, the accompanying potato wedges were noted to be of superior texture. The bloody mary and a prickly pear margarita were reasonable concoctions that perfectly accompanied our breakfast. Overall, I would return for friendly staff and the bisque.
Fresh and yummy food. Nice location too
This place is tragically underrated. Consistent staff and great food options really stand out, as does the varied items available.
Great, classic selection and a menu that is really great for an "Irish pub". Seriously, the staff is always so helpful and the nearby beach and nightlife really make this place a destination and more than just a stop over in the Madison park area.
A mainstay for Madison Park residents, super casual, has outdoor seating with lake view, neighbourhood bar vibe, not quite a “pub” or “sports bar” but with the fireplace could easily have an incredible pub atmosphere.
Fantastic ambience, top-notch staff! I had the Fish & Chips which were awesome. Due to current restrictions most places just don't "feel" right. I did NOT get that impression at McGilvra's. Felt wonderful. Oh the location is spectacular, wonderful lights at night just a short stroll outside. Highly recommended! I'm going back.
Great service, quick and easy with beautiful view of the waterfront and park. Food and drinks were excellent. The exterior cold use a new coat of paint to liven things up.
My daughter and I have been to McGilvra's twice and have really enjoyed the experience. The food was good and the service and atmosphere were great.
We both agreed that we should become regulars there.
Great neighborhood hang out. Full bar. Like the outdoor seating when warmer.
One of our favorite little hangouts in Madison Park. The service is impeccable, the food is delicious, and comes quickly, even when they're slammed.
Favorite dishes: Try their Cubano and a Strawberry Lemonade. Or else a traditional Fish n Chips with a Lager.
Amazing service! So friendly! The food is quite good bar food, and the location is just across the street from Lake Washington.
