Reviews Cafe Solstice

It was a dreary, rainy, typical Washington day and I was in the mood for a good chai latte (as you can tell I'm obsessed with them). I was trying to find a good cafe with one of my really close friends from high school. We were soaked to the bone and tired but we found Cafe Solstice right on the Ave. It was meant to be.

You walk in and are immediately hit with chatter and the rich aroma of coffee beans. I went up and ordered my chai, and was given my drink in what seemed like a matter of seconds. It was hard to find seats because there were so many people but a kind gentleman gave up his table for us (thank you so much!). It was probably busy due to it being a weekday near lunchtime but I've found that most good places in Seattle are usually just always busy.

My chai was delicious! More spicy than sweet but it would be wonderful with a sweet scone or muffin. I got it with soy milk this time because I'm trying to stay off dairy and it was just as good as any other latte. They even put foam art on top which I didn't know they could do with tea lattes. Overall it was a wonderful, cozy experience. A great place to catch up with friends and hunker down on a rainy day.

Sweet. The closest coffee I have found to replacing Stumptown when I am visiting Seattle. They also have got the whole cafe atmosphere thing down. Couches and tables and good food.

No longer the best.... Offering large tables with plenty of space and a soundtrack that never fails, the atmosphere of Solstice is unmatched. The grilled cheese and tomato soup are amazing along with their very tasty cookies and brownies. Espresso drinks are crafted by very skilled and friendly baristas.

Until recently, Solstice, Trabant and Zoka were neck and neck for the title of best café. As Trabant and Zoka are raising the bar of coffee standards in the U-District by implementing Clover machines, Solstice seems oblivious to the trend in its recent actions by deciding to no longer offer French Press as their standard $2 cup of coffee. It's been replaced by a drip coffee machine that brews coffee reminiscent of Tully's or Seattle's Best.

Without the quality coffee, I cannot get myself to give any more than a very unenthused recommendation. Please bring back the French Press, Solstice, I really thought you had achieved perfection in the cafe equation.

One of my favorite coffee shops. The coffee is good -- perhaps not the best in Seattle, because, hey, this is Seattle -- but the ambiance and great music, the yummy sandwiches, and big big tables make this my favorite coffee shop on the Ave.

I happened upon this café by chance, and it was one that I have not regretted. Cafe Solstice had a quiet atmosphere that I enjoyed being present in. I sat at a table for awhile and finished some work, wrote some letters, and read from a book within the same morning visit. What was helpful was the communal dish return area and having a water refill station to use, I could practice autonomy and not have to ask for extra help when I could do these tasks for myself. The food was tasty, and a little expensive, I paid $23 for two sandwiches and a slice of banana bread after tax. I would probably come back again, in my experience, it can be difficult to find quiet spaces.

Good coffee, good prices, cool space to hang out and get some work done. Haven't tried the food but it looks and smells delicious. I got, on the baristas recommendation, an iced oatmilk latte with honey and cinnamon. Tastes like cinnamon toast crunch! A really nice little place that's leaps and bounds more pleasant and tasty than the incredibly busy (why?) Starbucks a block away. The place is pretty much always bustling but the service is super quick. Definitely my new spot to hang out in between classes. Probably isn't a great place to do your math homework as it's a bit loud.

If you're a tea lover, you'll enjoy this Cafe with your coffee drinking friends as it has quite a few loose leaf tea options. On a gloomy morning, I usually go for the London Fog. Their London Fog is actually made nicely. They steep the tea long enough, so you can taste the aroma of the earl grey perfectly. It's also not too sweet. I usually don't like my London Fog overly vanilla or overly sweet. Their baked items are good but I prefer their savory options more often. I enjoy their southwest veggie burrito which is always nicely toasted and their cookies. My favorite is their ginger molasses which is both soft and crunchy. I do like the ambiance and the airiness of the place. You can easily social distance while working on your laptop. I do enjoy the music and the comfy seating as well. Bring your earbuds or headset, if you don't like to work with louder music in the background. The staff can come off a little cold from time to time but I don't let that overshadow the positives.

A very good vibe, local cafe. One of the most popular one in U District.

Great Cafe for both dine in or taking on your morning walk. I've enjoyed both the Chai latte and London fog here, and my coffee drinking partner likes the drip brew. Sandwiches are grilled right after ordering and the baked goods are delicious and filling. I love the ambiance and feel this would be a great place to bring visiting family and friends.

A cool place to chill and have a cup of coffee. Not sure why they served hot coffee in a glass though.

Tea and baked goods were super good here. Their WiFi is super fast, the ambiance of the environment is like a super cozy coffee shop. I was really surprised how big it was. Plenty of room for huge groups and for also loners like me. Didn't have trouble finding an outlet either. There's plenty of power to go around Really good place to study or just chill.

Great selection of coffee and good food. The overall ambience of the cafe was cozy and I enjoyed my time there. One downside was the sheer volume of people during lunchtime. It was difficult to find seats as I had to wait a while before someone left.

It's a nice cafe for doing reasearch on your computer while sipping some hot coco. The people who work there are very friendly and nice. You do see a lot of students when UW is in session but sometimes it gets pretty quiet in there. If you are getting a pastry my reccommendation is the Peanut Butter Cookie, mix it with some hot coco and it's good.
