Further exploring of my new digs brought me to Saint John's Bar & Eatery for brunch. I ordered the brioche french toast, "Custard soaked brioche, boozy whipped cream, toasted hazelnuts." What is there not to like? The playlist and the eclectic design was on point. I think I just found my new "go to" neighborhood bar.
As a true Seattleite, I can tell you this bar is awesome. The food is not like the typical greasy bar crap, one usually sees. The food and vibe is more along the lines of having a kick-ass homemade meal in the comfort of your own living room. The bartenders are really cool too. Solid and creative cocktails.
I had brunch with some friends. Menu is perfect, something for everyone. Service was awesome and our server Rachel was very funny and accommodating. I will be back definitely!
I love St. John's. Cool but unpretentious vibe, great drinks, and the food is good too. My boyfriend and I come here more than anywhere else on the hill. It's a nice place to unwind on a Friday night and they do a decent brunch as well.
I was genuinely surprised at just how good the food was at Saint John's: the nachos, brussel sprouts (no for real -- trust me they were phenomenal), and sweet ginger wings were all particularly delicious! Drinks were also really good, and the atmosphere was very welcoming and fun. The staff was super attentive and nice, and the bathrooms were clean -- overall a great night out and I definitely recommend eating here! There's a patio out back which I'm sure is lovely when the weather's nice, so also check that out when you come!
The holiday vibes are so enchanting!!! Go bask it in!! They are constantly hosting fun events! If you like mezcal get the Scorpio cocktail! Food always amazing!! Staff is so warm and profesh. This place truly is a gem
My partner and I have reserved the (covered and heated) back patio to celebrate our November birthdays for the past three years now. This venue has great food and drinks, excellent service, and has been so accommodating for our party tradition, even inspiring friends to use the space for their own parties. I love supporting a queer-owned business and I always feel so welcome in this bar.
The service is great. They didn't mind that I was slow-rolling a Sunday after my birthday. They let us take our time with our really good drinks, and relax the Sunday away. We even made some really cool new friends.
I very much appreciated the personal touch this place gives to even the most irregular requests, like crafting a customized birthday cocktail based on a memory and some flavor notes weeks in advance. I didn't expect that level of care when I reached out to ask what was possible and I was so happy with the process AND end product - a delicious apple cinnamon martini we both greatly enjoyed. This place is absolutely adorable. Kitschy dinosaur aesthetic in a very casual vibes bar with pretty decent food too. Love coming here for trivia and karaoke nights, and have taken many people here for brunch dates.
We had just popped in for a quick brunch and were pleasantly surprised by the lovely meal we had in the well heated patio. Very quirky vibe in the interiors as well. Nice cocktails and the chicken skewers were delicious. There was barely anyone else (just one table of customers in the patio) so it felt like we had the place to ourselves. They're strictly following all covid precautions.
I held a private event with my organization here in May and was so pleased by the experience. I knew the food and drinks would be great because I frequent the location often personally and recommend it to friends. I was delighted by how kind and collaborative Michael and his team were in facilitating the run of the event and ensuring that our needs were met and that our attendees were having a great time. I hope to be back next year and look forward to being back myself in the meantime!
Margot is amazing! With a line out the door, they were on it making delicious drinks in record speed. The environment is chill. Will be back for good for sure!
An incredibly welcoming place that makes the neighborhood feel like home. Always on my list of recommendations for folks visiting town, as this bar is a prime example of what I love about Capitol Hill.
