This was best and most uniquely flavored food I've had in a long time. I suppose if I were familiar with the cuisine of Senegal I'd say different - but I'm not and that is why this place is a gem! Owner/chef/server/all the things is also lovely. Highly recommend-be ready to sit at one of only 4 tables.

Bold, delicious flavors! Even the rice was flavorful. The owner/chef is very warm and helpful. Not good for large groups due to limited seating. Great for single, couples or carry out Got the coconut goat curry A gem.

The boyfriend and I headed here for dinner before a movie at the Ark Lodge. Coming from the DC-Maryland area, we don't have as many great West African restaurants as we used to. I was excited to have found La Teranga in a google search. As soon as we walked in, I knew the food was going to be delicious because of how amazing the dining room smelled. We ordered the couscous and veggie dish, lamb mafe, plantains with red sauce, and bissap juice. Everything was amazing and we will definitely be back! What a gem in Columbia City. Service from staff (and the chef himself!) was warm and friendly. Highly recommended.

A refreshing change from routine. The food taste is really unique, and in a good manner. Not only food but even the drinks are unique. Who could have thought ginger juice would be so great? It's so good! Back to food, the lamb was perfectly cooked and couscous was nicely textured. The whole place is not bigger than a walk in closet, so if you are in a group good luck with that. Owner is supremely hospitable and jovial. 5 stars just for the attitudef. For 2 people expect to pay around &$40. Yes for such a small place with no ambience so to speak of, it is on the expensive side. I guess ridiculous real estate prices here are to be blamed. After having food, I have no qualms paying that much. I hope the owner gets to expand his business to a much larger and much needed place.

Fantastic food. The owner/ cook was very nice and pleasant to talk to. The place is small, but, very intimate. Definitely visit again. The lamb is to die for!

senegalese food is amazing, and this place does it best. options here for omnivores and vegans alike. the restaurant is a narrow slice of columbia city, and it's the best one on this block. don't pass it up. the owner is truly kind and always remembers me, no matter how long it's been! try the baobab juice if you want something light, creamy, and sweet to drink!

It's a small restaurant but the owner is really passionate about sharing his food and culture with others. Love the thiebou djeun, which is a flavorful fish dish.

Ordered the prawn special; sauteed prawn and veggies over coconut curry rice, bursting with flavor. Instantly in love.

This place is a little delightful hole in the wall. When we got to the restaurant, I was a bit skeptical, but then I saw their menu and all the vegetarian options and everything sounded delicious! I can't remember what I ordered, as I haven't been here in a year (I think I posted a photo of it), but I remember trying two different drinks (non-alcoholic) and loved them both! One was a hibiscus or floral beverage but it was so sweet (almost too sweet, it was like a dessert)! The server was also super sweet, friendly, and patient and he helped us make the best decisions for our meal (he suggested the drinks and I think he helped me determine which entree to order). I definitely want to come back here next time I'm down in this neighborhood!

Incredible food with vegan options and amazing roasted animals, too. Very generous portions. Amazing for carry out, yum! Super tiny space, though, with very loud and echo-y walls, the staff keep the radio on almost all the time. Very unique experience!
