Ivars is a local favorite for seafood in Seattle. For me, I thought it was decent. I got the seafood combo n chips, just to get a taste of multiple of their seafood options (the fried fish, the fried clams, and the fried shrimp). If the seafood there, I actually liked the fried clams the best. The fish and the shrimp worked well enough, but just weren't that interesting. The fries were also pretty nice. The clam chowder (which this place is also known for) tastes all right, but it was kind of weird. It had an interesting aftertaste that I can only describe as being like microwaved hot dogs, which I've never tasted in clam chowder before. Maybe I'll try again one day, as I did like a few items here.
BuSsIN!!!!! To my surprise,.. the best all around Ivars I’ve been to yet!!! WOW.. the Flavor!!
Fish and chips was $11-12 for a 4 piece, it was a great deal and the food was fresh and delicious. They have a garlic vinegar and a sweet tartar that add some icing on top. Delicious. Manager was very friendly as well. Has outside seating with a fair view :)
I can see why they've been around since 1938. The fish and chips were hot and cooked to perfection. The cole slaw was tasty and crunchy. The servers were kind and polite. Visiting the PNW, we'll come again.
Amazing seafood. We are from Chicago. My wife and I came here years ago and loved the clam chowder and fish & chips. Fast forward to this past week, came here for a work conference at Mozcon and ate here again. Consistent good seafood!
While I was getting my car serviced, I walked over to Ivar's on Aurora. I hadn't been to an Ivar's in years. At first, not too many in the restaurant but then the lunch rush came. Lots of variety on the menu. I had the halibut and chips. Although it's a fast-food style place, the service was great. Place was super clean.
Nah they fish and fries really great, original I feel like is more better than the Cajun but thats my opinion about 14$ for 5 piece with fries under I always get this, great food for low price.
Love the classic style decor but you gotta get with the times seasoning wise or at least add the option. Seriously even us white people eat seasoning these days. Right now the fish breading and fries are completely unseasoned / bland. People shouldn’t have to dip their food in mayonnaise (99% of tartar sauce) for flavor. Add an option for cajun or creole or whatever (just something other than nothing) for your fish n chips and you’ll widen your base big time I promise!! Oh and squeeze a lil lime in your chowder. Just try it!
Came here for a quick dinner after checking into a hotel a few blocks away. The service was good, friendly staff! The food was good too. Better than I expected for a fast food type place! We would have stayed and ate here, but they didn't have any kind of high chair for us to sit our baby in. Which is no biggie.
Food was still hot when we got to our room. Big sized cups of chowder! Plus they have one of the coke machines that let's you chose tons of options.
Ivar’s has the best fish & chips in Seattle, and at very reasonable prices. The fish is delicious, the tartar sauce simply the best. Ask for a few extra tartars. Try the chowder.
