We tried this restaurant to celebrate our daughter’s birthday. You need the full party to be seated. The waitlist function worked well for us, but parking is difficult in the neighborhood. There used to be a choice you must make before seating - all you can eat or regular menu. We choose regular menu but I heard a lot of people choosing the all you can eat option. The server took our order. She did not make recommendations or explain how the system works. We’ve been to other similar restaurants so we figured it out. The meat was good quality. The soup bases were flavorful. The sauce bar included appetizers and desserts. It rounded out the meal.
I ate twice with my wife at Happy Lamb in the International District (Chinatown). The first time, it took us an hour to get seated. We got sliced lamb instead of beef. So, our entire hot pot tasted gamey. What's worst is we kept getting the wrong items and more lamb. It was an awful experience. They seem to miss something. Either the order didn't get input correctly, or the kitchen staff did not get it right. That was my initial reaction to our first dining at Happy Lamp. The second time we dined at Happy Lamb, it took about 20 minutes to wait. The wait was good. We got seated, got our water, and we placed our first round of order. It took about 25 minutes, and the meat came, but we never got any veggies. I asked Feng and then Vincent to check. They both said it was coming. Vincent finally went to check on the veggies after we got done eating the first round of meat. That was about 25 minutes later. They also missed the bean curd, oyster mushrooms, and fried tofu. We had to ask them periodically about the missing items. The two gentlemen tried, but I wish they got it right for me for once so I don't have to keep asking for the missing items. All in all, I'm giving this restaurant four stars because of the abundance of food despite the hit-and-miss.
A perfect place to go for traditional chinese hot pot. The food here is incredible, especially the lamb meat. The thickness of the cut and the quality of the all the meat are top notch too, I can taste the juiciness and the seasoning of the meat. I'd recommend getting the all you can eat option here, so you can get the full experience of the food. Their interior is well designed, and you can get a free tea at the front desk while waiting to be seated. Expect to get the type of service you get at a regular Chinese restaurant. You can park at their parking lot or street parking around the area.
