Review Zouave Restaurant - Seattle

Wanted a place to have a long and relaxed dinner. This was definitely the spot. Waiters were helpful and attentive but the food came out really slowly. The backyard was cozy but the bathroom end could use a little sprucing. The food itself was fine, didn’t love the the specials didn’t have a price (ended up ~30 for each dish). The menu felt fairly dated and made the specials feel less.. special. Had the calamari appetizer. Really liked it, it was peppery and fresh. The lamb dish was okay. The paella was delicious and had ample seafood. Would go back more for the ambiance than the food.

This is the sweetest local restaurant. They have personable staff and authentic but not pretentious Italian food. I love that it feels comfortable to go in jeans or dress up a bit. One of our absolute favorite date spots. Also, the portions and prices are very reasonable. We will definitely continue to come back here ❤️

I loved the food it was fantastic. The workers there are some of the nicest people I’ve ever met. The chef gave us a free dessert too. The food also came out very fast. The chef also gave us a complimentary salad while we waited plus the bread with an amazing dipping sauce. I hope you guys like this restaurant as much as me and my family did.

We stopped by late one night at 9 PM, just an hour before closing, and were graciously taken care of by the chef/owner. We ordered the gnocchi (it usually comes with chicken, but he happily subbed vegetables when I asked for no chicken) and Penne Salmon. Not only were the dishes delicious, but we liked it so much we went for dinner again two days later. This time, we got the Tortellini Siciliana, lobster ravioli, and cannoli for dessert. It was amazing once again!

I love this place. The atmosphere is calm but welcoming and the servers are so nice. The food takes a little while to come out but the wait is worth it. The textures and flavors you experience are amazing and the chef is extremely kind. One of my favorite places in Seattle by far.

Delicious food! My favorite thing to have here is the chicken Marsala and the mushroom soup. I’ve had a lot of the specials as well and they are all fantastic. The menu truly is a pan Mediterranean. Italian, French, Spanish, Greek, and North African. Delicious! This place is a real hidden gem. Abe is a wonderful chef, host and has become a great friend over the years!

This quiet, unassuming restaurant is truly a diamond among rocks. The food is genuine, scrumptious, and fully and lovingly made by hand and it shows. The portions are fantastic. We got the lobster ravioli and the ribeye for our mains, and WOW. The sauce with the steak was perfectly complimentary, not overpowering and adding to the depths of flavor. The steal itself was soft and juicy, with a delicate sear. It also came with some delicious penne and greens. The ravioli was rich and the sauce was creamy and succulent. The lobster was delicate, the ravioli itself was perfectly chewy and soft, the dough obviously handmade. The waiter was very helpful and attentive, consistently making sure we were enjoying ourselves. The chef himself came out after our meal and checked on us, and was personable and knowledgeable in discussing the plates. My only complaint was not having more room for more food, and this restaurant not being closer to my hometown. I will gladly come here again, and tell others of it as well.

Had a wonderful time at Zouave tonight in Ravenna for a team appreciation dinner. Rave reviews from my co-workers. This place is so great and was my first time there. It was only staffed by the server and the owner who was the chef who came to our table at the end to introduce himself and chat with guests. It was a slow, relaxed evening over a couple hours (just like Italy). I had the duck and mushroom risotto which was freaking amazing and a nice poached pear for dessert. I had a bite of someone's Tiramisu and it was just drenched which is my favorite way. No crunch detected. To be honest we had five appetizers at the table, three bottles of wine, everyone had entrees and several people had salad or dessert and we got out of there for under $65 a head. Not bad for a company outing in a cozy atmosphere!

This place is excellent! We came on a Friday evening as the main dinner service was winding down and were sat immediately. The waiter was incredibly kind and attentive. The menu was full of options, and it was hard to choose. The prices are really really reasonable, and the food was SPECTACULAR! The chef even came around to the tables to make sure we were enjoying it. I loved this place.

The best mushroom soup I’ve ever ever had. It’s sweet and savory. The chef Abe shared the recipe with us. There’s no sugar in the soup but it was delightful. He said he sauté mushroom with red wine with marinara so it’s sweet bc wine is sweet. Then cream and if you add more variety of mushroom, it’s like wine, the more the better. I love this place. Long live Abe

We absolutely love Zuave - our favorite restaurant in Seattle. Dining here feels like you’re going to someone’s house for dinner but that someone happens to be a skilled chef. The food is incredible every time, staff are the friendliest and always make sure we’re taken care of (the chef always comes to our table to ask how our food was), and the atmosphere is cozy and cute. Just a great local spot!

What a cute restaurant! It smelled absolutely amazing the moment we walked in, the smell of delicious home cooking. My friend (local) and I (visiting) had sautéed calamari (starter), chicken Marsala with lobster ravioli (entree) and Beef Roulade (entree). Everything was delicious. Oh, the Handsome waiter also gave us a slice of tiramisu at the end of our dining experience, it was so very very delicious. I will definitely dine at this gem again. PS: did I forget to mention the restaurant staffs are very friendly?! Well, now you know! Great service and very welcoming. 🤗

Wow! This was the best meal I’ve had in a long time. I had the mushroom risotto special with duck. The fresh bread and salad before entrees was delicious with high quality olive oil and vinaigrette. The service was excellent. The chef came out to say hello afterwards which was a special treat. He told us more about his eclectic background and his approach to cooking which was fascinating. We were visiting from Portland. I think we will make a special trip to this restaurant when we come back to Seattle. We walked here from our hotel in the University District and it was a lovely walk through a nice residential neighborhood.

We had a wonderful time at Zouave tonight. We enjoyed the food immensely, the staff were awesome and the chef even called goodbye to us as we left after the meal. The atmosphere is quaint and largely comfy but with the tent flaps closed it was a little loud and the airflow would've been appreciated. We'll definitely be coming back and will recommend.

Stopped into this spot on a whim while staying in the area. Their special that night was the lobster ravioli. It was absolutely delicious! Really, each course was great! Loved their bread too! Definitely recommend!

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Five star recommendation! What a lovely dining experience!! Staff was sooo friendly. The chef (looks like the owner) gave us free salad, bread and tiramisu cake!! The tiramisu cake reminds me of the ones I had in the summer in Rome several years ago. Not too sweet at all. It has the right amount of bitterness from coffee mixed with the richness of cream! So good! Seafood pescatore was delicious! The creamy sauce looked a bit watery when the dish presented. But the taste is not watery at all! The penne is cooked to the perfect texture. The seafood was fresh but not fishy. Will def come back! Highly recommend!

What a lovely experience on a Monday evening. Delicious food, attentive staff, and a cozy patio! The sangria was refreshing but not overly sweet. The antipasto plate was generous and had great variety. I had the osso busco and the gnocchi were perfect and the lamb was incredibly tender. Sauce was flavorful but not overwhelming. We had the tiramisu and cannoli for desert with both plates clean at the end. The staff were very attentive and the chef came and said hi! Limoncello closed out the experience and I definitely plan to go back soon!

This is a delightful, unassuming little neighborhood restaurant. Went for my husband's birthday and enjoyed it thoroughly. Our waiter was great, and super friendly. We had a yummy eggplant starter, chicken marsala, and seafood paella. All tasty. Prices were very reasonable, given how expensive everyplace is these days. We will for sure return.
