Had a slice of the "Strawberry White Chocolate Cake", which is one of their popular flavors. It tasted nice overall. The cake wasn't overly sweet, strawberries were fresh. The frosting could have been lighter. Overall a nice grab if you're in the area.

TIP: Cash or check only. We visited the shop on the spur of the moment after having lunch a block away at Kamakura Sushi, and I'm SO GLAD we had cash handy to pay for our selections. ALL FOUR cake slices we bought were wonderful - moist with luscious "melt-in-your-mouth" buttercream icings and natural flavors. We bought the strawberry cake, lemon-blueberry cake, chocolate hazelnut cake, and chocolate/white chocolate cake. The cream cheese topping on the black-bottom cupcake was too dense and not tasty/sweet enough, but maybe some folks would prefer it. This was a perfect ending to our lunch outing in Fremont.

They only accept cash or check! I find this quite strange and ended up being disappointed first attempt to eat here, like who carries cash or a checkbook nowadays? Anywho, I went back the next day and ordered the Chocolate Fudge and Banana Amaretto. The display prices were different, but the cashier said both are $6.00 after taxes.. a little strange. The Chocolate Fudge was average, the cake was nice, but the icing wasn't very good. The Banana Amaretto was good - almost like a banana bread with icing, but not very sweet overall. I preferred the Banana Amaretto over the Chocolate Fudge. The interior is OK. It's a small shop where if anyone is waiting in line they need to move in order for you to enter. The seats and tables are pretty bland and don't enhance the experience either. The prices are about $1 too high per slice. Overall, I would say it's a nice place to grab dessert in Fremont, but the pricing and payment policies are inconvenient and the interior could use some love.

I visited sometime after 8pm on a Thursday evening. When I arrived they had sold out of a few of the cakes, but they still had a bunch available. They also had cookies and brownies available to order. The woman working at the time was friendly and happy to answer any questions. I ended up going with a slice of the chocolate mocha cake. It was still moist at 8pm and it tasted just like the one I had from them at a family get-together a few years ago. Neither the chocolate or coffee overpowered the palate and the flavors were balanced well. If I’m looking for good cake in Fremont, I would definitely return.

We went into this bakery totally without hearing about it and I read the recommendations only after, which is a good thing because I feel the more recent ones totally misrepresent the cake. It was a really delicious raspberry, chocolate cake; both creamy, moist and a great balance between sweet and tartness. I can not speak on how legendary the last cakes were, nor can I say that I missed anything with this one. The prices were fair for Seattle and the Lady at the register was very friendly too.

The staff was sunny and cheerful. The Chocolate Raspberry Cake was perfect, the raspberries had a fresh tart bite to them and the frosting was a hard shell of solid chocolate. This place impressively maintains a good atmosphere despite being by a major road. 10/10

This is really good cake. It's actually so good it's great. Nope, this is pretty excellent! That's how your first, second, and third bites will go as you taste the cakes created by Simply Desserts. They're every bit as fantastic pastries as any in the city. You won't find parking nearby so expect to walk a bit. As of 8/24/21 it's cash only so arrive prepared! This cake is so good that if they asked you to pay in pesos you better find a way to make that happen.

"Simply the Best" Fremont neighborhood has many things they should be proud off and one of them is this small, cute bakery shop located in the heart of their neighborhood. Simply Dessert made a name with the locals as simply providing delicious cakes without all that fancy decorations or such. They may look simple but thr taste isnout of this world. My favorite is the chocolate white chocolate. Very light and not too sweet. The chocolate white strawberry is very good as well. Very light and fresh. I suggest to eat them when it is in room temperature. Also this place is only cash so make sure to bring enough to try more than 1. Trust me you will love it!

*July 2020* There's a sign on the door that says one group of customer at a time inside. There was still a good variety of cakes available in the evening, like Chocolate Truffle (dark chocolate with dark chocolate frosting), Chocolate Fudge Cake (classic chocolate cake), Chocolate White Chocolate Cake and Lemon Blueberry Cheesecake. We chose Strawberry Cake, one of their bestseller recommended the cashier. For $6, it was a huge piece of cake. The cake was moist (though slightly doughy), the fresh strawberry and whipped cheese inside was light and not too sweet; the white chocolate frosting was sweet and a little hard. Overall, it was not the best cake ever but a satisfying experience nonetheless. The cake slice was large enough to be shared by 2 people. Tip: Cash or check ONLY

Always amazing and they did not disappoint today. Love that this place is still thriving several decades since I first discovered this gem. Can count on my most favorite treat desires to be on hand and just as I remembered. Long time favorite is the white chocolate strawberry cake. Think next level strawberry shortcake. No whip cream of standard frosting here....instead strawberries and white chocolate ganache layers in-between incredibly moist cake. I don't even care much for cake, and yet I crave simply desserts. Yum yum.
