They have a daily special "dumpling flight" which changes all the time. Their flavors tend toward the experimental, and they even try out different wrappers - the last time we went, one of the dumplings on the flight used a puff pastry type of wrapper. It may not have succeeded all the way, but I must give them kudos for pushing the dumpling boundaries. They do seared, steamed, pan fried, and possibly even deep fried. You never know just what they'll have, but every time I've been, all their dumplings have been pretty good. Prices are not too bad considering the location, and the view of the Spheres across the street is nice. When the weather is warm and dry, the patio is a great place to eat and enjoy the city. There are two levels, so they can fit a lot of people. It was fairly noisy last time we went, partially the result of a private company party upstairs, but the bottom level was pretty busy too.

I came in tonight for a happy hour with co-workers. We ordered several appetizers, dumplings, edamame, chicken wings, tofu, etc. It was really, really good. The wings had a quick burst of heat, but they were not obnoxious at all. They were super crispy and juicy. The edamame was wonderful. There were several vegetarians who really loved the tofu. Our server was on the spot the whole night. I will definitely be back next time I am in Seattle. We didn't even get to the main menu, the appetizers were so good we filled up on them. 🙄

This was a neat little spot that my wife and I did not even know existed, though we are not usually in that area of town. We walked in not knowing exactly what it was, not even knowing it was a Tom Douglas restaurant until after the fact. We saw the menu on the board in front of the door and it looked good, we love dumplings and asian food. We were not looking for anything huge, so we decided to split the ‘dumpling party’ and it was actually a perfect amount of food. It would have been not been enough food had we both been a little more hungry. I forget all the flavors they had that night, but they were all good. I would go back to try more of their menu and see what new dumpling flavors they have. The dumplings change daily according to the waitress. The prices are a little high for what it is, but you are in the high rent district and it is Tom Douglas. The worst part of this place is the mandatory 20% service fee all Tom Douglas places charge, but it is what it is. As I said, I’d probably still go back.

I went there for a birthday dinner. The service was wonderful and our server was nice and helpful in recommending dishes to us. Food can be shared family style if you want. Desserts were good too, coconut cream pie and flourless chocolate cake. It wasn't too crowded either, although it does pick up around 7pm, so plan accordingly.

TanakaSan was such a gorgeous place. I was here for a group event and the staff were so wonderful and friendly and just went out of their way on several occasions. I really loved the variety of appies they had and the sliders were incredible.

Service was very friendly from beginning to end. I got a nice drink (GreenMan, could be a bit more generous lol). Also, I got the Dumpling Party ($21) combo. It was super yummy and totally worth it! The environment is really cool. 20% gratuity added automatically to the bill. I would totally come back!

Dumplings were terrible, we couldn't even eat them. However, their fried chicken wings and general tso ribs were amazing! Super crispy and flavorful sauce on top with a good spicy kick.

Ten thumbs up. Everything was prepared and presented so delightfully, loved it. Making this my new favorite dinner spot. I'm a huge kimchee and crispy rice fan, and let me just finish off by saying ... this is the best I've had! Their Bento is fabulous too.
