A coworker who's from Puerto Rico highly suggested this place to me after I told her that I've never been to a Puerto Rican restaurant. She told me to order the mofongo with pernil and that's exactly what I did. Excellent food, staff, drinks, and atmosphere. The walls were painted vibrant colors and decorated with lots of art. My family always makes arroz con gandules, that was the only thing that could've used more flavor and color. I'm going to have to come here again to try more from their tempting menu.
It's hard to distill the experience of the flavors I experienced, into words. If I was forced to pick just one I'd simply say: DELICIOUS. If you've never been, this place would be great for a first date. Casual atmosphere, very, very reasonably priced, and satisfying fare. Good drink selection. My wife had the "Lunch Empanadilla" special and we were both blown away by the rice and beans that came with it. These aren't like Azteca restaurant kind of rice and beans. These are perfectly cooked, uniquely spiced rice and beans that you can only get here or in Puerto Rico. Indeed, we were more impressed with them than the actual empanadilla (though it was good, as well)... That's how amazing they were. I had the Tripleta sandwich which was amazing. Hearty and cheesy, good bread, excellent sweet potato fries as an included accompaniment, and delicious garlic sauce for dipping. We'll definitely be back. So I went here because I was feeling homesick. I'm a great cook! But, there is nothing like abuela's and mami's home cooked Puertorican food!!! I went hoping it was actually going to be Puertorican food and not someone's rendition of it; or someone trying to make a version of their own.
I literally ordered like 10 things lol The pork, rice and beans, alcapurrias, Bacalao, mojito, and many more things. Obviously, it will never be better than abuela's or mami's; but it was sooooo good!!!!! The rice and beans were very well flavored and not dry at all. The pork almost made me cry. So tender and succulent. The pique (Puertorican hot sauce; best ever)made the rice, beans and pork taste even better than it already was.
The bacalao and alcapurrias were super fresh and sooo good. As a Puertorican who loves food and tried everything once; La Isla is a must try. If you want REAL SPANISH CARRIBEAN food this is a must try. The inside is decorated very nicely. Clean, comfortable and great music. Their rum is , of course, Don Q. One of the best rums out there! Whether you drink it alone or mixed it's great. Highly recommend La Isla!! This is where I go when I'm to tired to cook and want great food from home!
Great food for Puerto Rican cuisine. Their service was good and the food was excellent! Pastries are done in house for an amazing end of your meal. Is nice to see a Puerto Rican restaurant this far away from the island.
Good environment! Very homey with Puerto Rican music and the everyone is friendly!. Would recommend, Great food just like back home.
Amazing! Food is delicious and the service is very nice. Authentic puertorrican food and music! My family loved it!
This was a fun find that we enjoyed with another couple. The carafe of sangria was delicious and a good buy. At times the service seemed slow for my taste and given that the place was busy but not packed. Food was delicious and unique.
One of my favorite neighborhood spots! I always get the Pollo Guisado - been getting that ever since they had a booth at the Fremont Market. Great vibe, good music, delicious food. (Tip: Ask for extra sofrito, it's good on EVERYTHING!) A taste of Puerto Rico in the heart of Ballard -- definitely check it out!
This restaurant has a casual atmosphere and the decor could probably use an upgrade. But we didn't go for the decor. We went for the food. The food was fantastic and the pina coladas were delicious and refreshing.
Happy hour 2pm to 6pm!! The best latin food.!!! Great custoner service! Dog friendly.

Just like a friend told me "It's even better than a lot of Puertorrican restaurants".
Great food! Great service! Don't let the servers fool you, they understand Spanish pretty well.
The restaurant have Puertorrican decorations that bring back good memories.
Food and service are incredible. I ordered a virgin version of Velvet, and the staff have me a huge discount even though they didn't have to. Much appreciated. I enjoyed the Tres Leches dessert as well.

Nestled at the end of Ballard’s main drag is this little gem. La Isla has a great selection of tasty Puerto Rican dishes. From Chuletas a la Criolla to Tres Leches, definitely a good spot to get your island fix.

The food was so delicious, I felt like I was back in home but with an elevated touch I really recommended
Friendly staff an great environment, bartenders are super cool. Our waiter said our portions were big.....maybe for someone under 150 lbs. But good all in all
Delicious authentic Puerto Rican food with a great atmosphere and staff.
It stands out due to the lack of non-mexican spanish food in Seattle but it does a great job of standing out. Flavorful food, excellent service and the great atmosphere make this place a great spot for your spanish food fix
