It was my first time here, and I really recommend this place đ
I had the Sâmores cake and it was AMAZING. It is made with smoked chocolate and it gives the cake that little something extra to really taste like it was made over a campfire. So good. Yeah, it is pricey at $10/cake ($12 for the vegan cake), but as a treat that Iâll only let myself enjoy every once in a while, the price is fine.
Had the Chocolate Decadence cake and it did NOT disappoint. And the ice cream with toffee on top was incredible! An added bonus was eating my dessert by the outdoor fire pit. It was a wonderful experience. I will be back the next time I'm in Seattle!
The Sweet Week Special was amazing ! Everything j want on a sundae and the kick with the popcorn kernels were so good ! Highly recommend it ! Love the look also. Very warm and cute.
A must every time I visit Seattle- it never disappoints.
Had the one that comes with a chocolate chip cookie and cookie dough ice cream. One of the best things EVER! I need more of those in my life. Oh and the lemon cookies and double chocolate cookies are really good.
Wow it was awesome, the smores cake was wow wow wow
Came here 2 years ago and loved it and made a point to come on this trip. Loved the smoky taste of the s'mores.

Every year I buy so many of these hot cakes for Christmas and I've never regretted a single one. Best treat your self breakfast of all time.
I am a dessert fanatic. I am new to Seattle and was told about this place. It exceed all expectations in all areas. I sat and ate 3 different desserts. I didn't find any issue with any of them. I will definitely be back soon.
AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!! I absolutely love this place. Anyone Gluten Free NEEDS to check this place out. I live 40 minutes away, but I'll drive out for this place.
This is the most darling bakery I've come across in a long time! Superb staff! Warmth, Cheerful, Friendly and Kindness welcomed us immediately as we walked in. Beautifully lit, spotless and great seating all around. Honestly, this place is so cute! Yes, the Molten Chocolate Cake was divine, but as a self proclaimed cookie aficionado, the oh so delicious Molasses & two (2) Oatmeal Raisin cookies were "AWESOME"! That's right 3 cookies! When in Seattle, make your way to Capital Hill and enjoy this spectacular Cakery. Yes, Washington, DC to Seattle for dessert!
The best bread pudding and americano I have ever had. Thank you!
heaven on earth believe me.... the milkshakes will change your life forever.
I had the chocolate decadence hot cake, and it was TO. DIE. FOR. Seriously amazing. I loved the atmosphere in there as well. Totally worth driving around the block 17 times to park. Totally worth the 25 minute wait in the line out the door. We will be back! And next time I'll order two glasses of ice cold milk, instead of one.

The hot cakes are so rich and yummy, great place to go and relax and enjoy the food!
Yummy. Need to open up on the East coast. A must visit every time I'm in Seattle.
Amazingly decedent desserts. Rich and filling Cakes, whimsical plateing, slightly cramped/ intimate seating. We will be back soon!
My friend and I recently visited this dessert restaurant, eager to try their molten cakes. We both love hot desserts with ice cream, so it seemed like the perfect choice. I ordered the seasonal option with blackberry lavender filling, while my friend went for the peanut butter. While we enjoyed the flavors, there were a couple of letdowns.
The molten cakes themselves were undeniably delicious, but they were essentially hollow, with the primary distinction being the filling. I had expected the lavender to infuse the cake itself, which was not the case. They were good, but I had hoped for a more integrated lavender experience.
Another aspect to note is the size. These molten cakes are on the smaller side. Considering their petite portions, we couldn't help but feel that they should be priced a bit lower. They are bursting with flavor, but their small size might leave you wanting more.
In conclusion, if you're in the mood for a tasty molten dessert and don't mind the petite portions and pricing, this place is worth a visit. The flavors are great, and they offer a variety of fillings. Just be prepared for smaller servings that make up for it in flavor.
Iâm only in Seattle for one day and decided to stop by for dessert. It was SO DELICIOUS. We got the gooey brownie cake, the peanut butter one, crĂšme brĂ»lĂ©e and the strawberry milkshake.
Some of my friends thought the brownie cake was too rich, but Iâm a chocolate lover and thought it was so good. Definitely stop by and check them out, everything is amazing. đ„
This place is hoppinâ on a weekend night, and for good reason. Featuring an abundance of both sweet and savory dessert options, my group and I tried nearly one of each category and enjoyed every bite. The warm cookies & cream had a generous serving of ice cream, paired with not only one but two cookies. While their namesake smores molten cake was decadent, I found their creme brulee to actually be the star of the night. The well caramelized sugar crust balanced perfectly with the creamy custard.
Seating can be a bit difficult, but tables open up rather quickly.
Hot Cakes is a great cafe and dessert restaurant. We ordered a tea, a molten chocolate cake and warm cookies with ice cream desserts. The desserts were incredible, as well as the tea. This establishment has a lot of options for individuals with gluten sensitivity, as well as individuals on a vegan diet. We really enjoyed the food and atmosphere, this is a great place for coffee/tea and dessert.
Title: Indulgent Delights and Cozy Vibes: Hot Cakes in Ballard, WA
Rating: âââââ (5/5)
Nestled in the heart of Ballard, Hot Cakes is a hidden gem that exudes a cozy and warm ambiance. Located in the beautiful downtown area, this charming dessert spot embraces a small-town vibe while offering indulgent treats that will satisfy any sweet tooth. During my visit, I had the pleasure of trying their Dark Decadence, Strawberry Molten Cake, Chocolate Chip Cookie, and a comforting cup of black coffee. Hot Cakes truly exceeded my expectations, and their molten cakes were an absolute delight.
Let's begin with the star of the showâthe molten cakes. The Dark Decadence was a chocolate lover's dream come true. The cake was beautifully dense and rich, with a luscious center that oozed velvety dark chocolate. Each bite was pure indulgence, and the intense chocolate flavor lingered on the palate in the most delightful way. The molten cakes were served with a side of vanilla ice cream, which added a cool and creamy contrast, and the option to choose your own jam took the experience to another level of personalization.
The cozy and inviting atmosphere at Hot Cakes further enhanced the overall dining experience. The establishment's intimate setting, combined with its warm decor, made it the perfect place to unwind and enjoy a moment of indulgence. Whether you're seeking a cozy spot for a date night or a place to relax with friends, Hot Cakes offers a welcoming ambiance that makes you feel right at home.
In addition to the molten cakes, Hot Cakes also impressed me with their Chocolate Chip Cookie. This classic treat was perfectly baked, boasting a golden-brown exterior with a soft and gooey center. The generous amount of chocolate chips provided a burst of sweetness in every bite, making it an irresistible companion to my cup of black coffee. Speaking of which, the coffee was a comforting addition to the dessert experience, offering a rich and robust flavor that complemented the sweet treats perfectly.
In conclusion, Hot Cakes in Ballard, WA, is a must-visit destination for dessert enthusiasts seeking a cozy and indulgent experience. The molten cakes, with their dense and decadent chocolate, are a true highlight. The option to customize with ice cream and jam adds a personal touch to the already delightful treat. The warm and inviting atmosphere, coupled with the friendly service, create an unforgettable dining experience. I wholeheartedly recommend Hot Cakes and give it a well-deserved 5-star rating.
Cute place with delicious desserts. The hot lava cakes are good for 1-2 people, and all of the flavors are great. The decadent chocolate lava cake was delicious but super rich!! If that is what you like, you will love this flavor.
The vegan brownie molten cake!!! You know when you choose a vegan option and worry youâre sacrificing on taste⊠not the case here. It was delicious and very rich. I split one with my best friend and washed it down with coffee and the ice cream. Absolutely delicious, the staff were over-the-top friendly, and the atmosphere was so cozy and warm to match the treat. Great dessert spot.
We got the smores hotcake and shared it between 4 people. The staff were super friendly and even let us try the smokey chocolate (which we went with the dark instead).
For the size of the hot cake, it's quite pricey (being around $16 total).
It was tasty though and came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream in a pool of chocolate syrup. The molten cake was gooey and satisfied our chocolate craving.
If youâre a chocolate lover, this is probably one of the best dessert spots for you. Dark decadence is one of their all time bests but they always have seasonals and monthlyâs that are unique as well!
Favorites: Dark Decadence hot cake
It is a great dessert place. The hot cakes are amazingly delicious.
Delicious molten chocolate cakes with a lovely atmosphere.
Great service, great presentation and great flavors!
RUN DONT WALK to catch their seasonal tropical ice cream sandwich! I think I died and went to heaven eating this, and the pineapple jam center, baked to perfection coconut cookie and crazy delicious vegan coconut based ice cream literally restarted my heart. Chocolate multan cake was also fire but i Stan the tropical cookie sandwich 10/10
Not just hot cakes. Admittedly I've stayed away since I was scared there would be no dairy free (hello, lactose intolerance) or no savory options. I was totally proven wrong today. The vegan grilled cheese with tomato sauce was scrumptious! Also they were able to substitute the ice cream for a dairy free option I could eat.
These cakes are so delicious they come out super hot, gooey, and did I mention delicious! I got the gooey brownie melting cake! The melting cakes come with a delicious side of ice creams with beautiful toppings! Great spot to stop at after dining at a local restaurant for a quick dessert!
Such a Ballard classic , almost a Seattle classic . If you like to go overboard with dessert , if you like to Indulge in goodness or just have a sweet tooth, looking for that extra special dessert moment ..then you found the place. Every single item is just ALOT. A lot of goodness, a lot of temptations and a lot of feel good flavors .
We got dark decadence, bread pudding, and chai. Excellent service, great food (maybe except for chai) and ambience. Cozy atmosphere and vibrant location in Ballard. Street parking.
I don't hand out 5 star reviews like hotcakes, but for Hot Cakes I think I might have to.
The war homemade cookie with creamy vanilla ice cream and dark chocolate chunks with caramel drizzle was delicious. Couldn't be better.
The "butter beer" is an interesting beverage that is definitely worth a try is you like ginger. It has a subtle (not overpowering) ginger kick, with caramel and sweet undertones. Something you don't expect to be good but it is. Also worth a try.
Cozy and warm ambiance and decor.
They have a unique menu with a bunch of good stuff, as well as alcohol infused snacks and beverages. Need to start trying some of the other stuff they've got, definitely some gems on the menu.
Cool area to window shop and poke around too.
Prices were a little on the high end for what it is, but for a chic spot with some unique things on the menu. The price is forgivable and is a warm little place to keep the night going and grab a sweet treat.
Definitely would recommend, the reviews are justified.
