Review 5 Spot - Seattle

Alohilani Flores
Nikki was amazing. Provided excellent service and seated us so promptly. Very attentive to us, never a second she was not checking on us seeing if we needed more water, coffee and to see if we were enjoying our food. I love the ambiance of the place, music was so cute playing and I love how they have people spread out unlike some places I feel like they cram people together and you can basically hear another’s conversation clearly when trying to enjoy your food. Thank you so much Nikki for making our anniversary breakfast experience so wonderful! Such a great start to the day.

There was no wait for a table of 4 during lunch hours on a Saturday. The service was extremely friendly and the food came out quick. TLDR: I loved the sides of spicy red jacket potatoes and sourdough toast the most. I'm excited to come back again and would definitely recommend to my friends! Here is everything I tried: California Benedict ($19) - English muffin topped with avocado, bacon, sliced tomato, spinach, hollandaise sauce, and fresh herbs. Served with hashbrowns or spicy red jacket potatoes AND toast. The potatoes were well seasoned and not too mushy or crispy. The sourdough toast was surprisingly good with the salted butter. Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs ($19) - Chicken fried steak with country sausage gravy. Served with two eggs, hashbrowns or spicy red jacket potatoes, AND biscuits or toast. Breakfast Burrito ($16) - Three eggs, spicy red jacket potatoes, bell peppers, onions, pepper jack cheese, your choice of bacon, ham, sausage, veggie sausage, chorizo. Topped with salsa verde and sour cream. Generous portion. Doesn't come with any sides sadly. Huevos Rancheros ($16) - Two corn tortillas loaded with black bean chili beef, two sunny side eggs, and spicy red jacket potatoes. Topped with salsa verde and sour cream, cheddar, and pepper jack cheese. This is for those that love saucey foods. Doesn't come with any sides sadly. French Toast ($14) - Got this to-go and it came out hot and quick! It was topped with strawberries + blueberries and came with a side of syrup. Generous portion for the price.

What a lovely breakfast experience! I can't say enough nice things about not only the quality of the service, but how delicious every dish turned out to be! I very much appreciated how accommodating my waiter Delmer was, and he makes me excited to hold this Spot as a strong recommendation for others in the future!

I have been coming to the 5 Spot for decades, and it was always my favorite brunch in Seattle. So I was very sad when it closed. And even after it re-opened under new ownership, the food was severely disappointing. The menu was similar to the old place, but it was just lacking in something. However, I’m happy to say I gave it another try and I had a totally different experience. The food was much closer to what I remember, especially the crispy hash brown and spicy bloodies. If you have been staying away because you had a bad experience after it re-opened, give it another try. If you are lucky you will get Nikki as your server. She is the best for sure!

A great corner spot that we tried for the first time. Super cute neighborhood eatery with a full bar and great coffee and food.

Seated within 5 to 10 minutes on a Sunday. It was really busy still, but the service was great. Some things weren't in stock anymore like the vegan milkshakes which is unfortunate. Got the benedict and regular strawberry milkshake. The eggs were poached well, but I wish it came with more sauce. The slab of potato was delicious and crispy, good with ketchup or hot sauce. The milkshake was light, but refreshing and worth getting.

Nikki was an amazing human being that is gracious and very kind, we were seated in a place that was comfortable, food was amazing the red potatoes 🥔 on point. Serving size was perfect not too much and not too little. Will for sure come back.

Our favorite breakfast place on Queen Anne. The food is always good and the service is friendly and fast. Nicki took great care of us today.

5 spot café was surprisingly really good. Staff was super friendly and attentive. Unfortunately they forgot to bring me part of my order (French fries for breakfast 😭)and gave me a pancake instead of waffles, which we still ate but make sure you are very clear about your order. Food quality was really good! Presentation was good as well, better than other breakfast places in Seattle, surprisingly. Their potatoes, both the jack red potatoes and the hash browns were really good, they had a mix of bell peppers and onions sautéed in which was a nice addition. The place does have an old smell to it but you kind of forget about it when you are there and the food makes you forget about it too! The napkins were super nice too! Not white and generic like other places. Bathrooms were pretty clean 4/5 cleanliness. I’d definitely come back! :)

Absolutely fantastic breakfast spot. As a family of seven, we were seated promptly and served well. The food is outstanding, with many options. Certainly a local necessity in Seattle. We went on a Sunday morning, and although they were busy, we had quick service and the best server.

For over 20years, 5 Spot has been my go-to diner. Love the seasonal changes to menu and the theme changes that always enhance the atmosphere. The Benedicts are always a solid choice and exactly how they should be. The consistency makes this a reliable, local staple that never disappoints! Cheers 5 Spot! ✨

Good old fashioned comfort food at a neighborhood restaurant. And, they were busy (a really good sign). Lots of traditional American food options on the menu. Service was great and our order arrived quickly. Amounts and prices were fair. What a treat.

Stopped by for breakfast and at first thought we might go elsewhere. I’m glad we didn’t - the food was amazing! The person that helped us was a hoot! Had us laughing the whole time. Great place, super great people and the food was epic! Definitely recommend

Love 5 Spot! Great food, service, people & atmosphere. I’ve been coming here for over 25+ years. We sat at the bar & Nikki provided great customer service. We enjoyed her fun personality. Thank you!

We came to 5 spot for the first time after being in this neighborhood for over 3 years… but rest assured, we will be coming back much more going forward. Super warm and nice place, excellent staff, high efficiency and wholesome tasty food… what more can anyone ask for a lazy weekend morning.

That cozy local diner with great service and great food? You found it here. Breakfast before the daytime Kraken game was super easy and fantastic, with free street parking. Yes, get the cinnamon roll for an add-on! The shaved ham on the Eggs Benedict=wow! (Yes, the breakfast burrito is almost bigger than your head.)

While visiting Seattle, WA someone recommended this place. They were not wrong! Good Coffee, Amazing Breakfast, lots of choices, fantastic service and people. Everything was hot and fresh off the grill. I wish we had them in S. Florida. This is an absolute great place for you to try if you're in this area. They are so worth it!
Christy
we love dining at 5 spot! a cute charming diner style restaurant. we come here for a hearty breakfast and it never fails. we love our server nikki, her energy is great and she is so efficient! :)

Get there early or wait in line for breakfast. Fun place, good food, great staff. Worked for the entire family and we all like different things.
Samantha Schulte
Delicious food. The biscuit that the breakfast sandwich came on was so incredible! Buttery and crumbly! Service was friendly and moderately quick. And our waitress pointed out to us that Monday through Friday they have cheap breakfast options with bloody Mary's of mimosas for only $4.50!!! I am new to the neighborhood and most certainly will be coming back!

One of the best breakfast diners still standing in Seattle. My favorite is the salmon eggs benedict, but pretty much everything here is great. Just prepare to wait a while on the weekend, as they don't take reservations. Still, it's well worth the wait.
Loida Masalaysay
The place got a good rating, one of the reasons we checked out the place. The food was okay, didn't find anything special about it, or maybe it was just the food I order.
Karis Taylor
The best food and great service. My fave spot in my area :)
Carla Rose
This place was SO good. The service was incredibly fast but the food was still freshly made. I had the cinnamon caramel French toast. OMG. Amazing! So much caramel. It reminded me of a Cinnabon but French toast. We will be back!

Love 5 spot. We used to live in QA and it’s def a must visit spot when we go back to the hood. Tasty and hearty meals
Christine Grieve
Perfect breakfast, very tasty and great service. The long walk up a steep hill from our hotel worked up our appetites for sure, worth the effort.
Alma Wilson
Great staff and the food was delicious. Great place to bring kids... not quiet where you have to feel uncomfortable with your kids being kids, yet not to load to have conversation. Kids menu has 2 actual/ nutritious meals besides regular starchy/ no nutritional value kids items.
Garrett Jackson
The breakfast we had was good, service was pretty good, would've been a four star rating except that the waitress did not box up our leftovers. Instead, she tossed some boxes down on the table to for us to sort it out. Our table WA crammed and the plates are large, so it was awkward. This kind of thing just irritates me that they can't take food back in box it up for you - theyve got to leave to get boxes anyway so why not take the plates back on box it up?
Jolene Saxby Compston
Best breakfast we have had in years! We will definitely be back. Thanks for the delicious food and outstanding service.

The 5 Spot provides exceptional service and great tasting food. They have a friendly local neighborhood atmosphere and good variety of meals to select from. Had the "Rumble in N'awlins" scramble with a lightly spiced sausage, peppers, cheese and scallions, excellent flavor! Hash browns looked pretty ordinary but found that they too had a little kick and spiced just like you'd find on the Texas Gulf coast. Seen a few other plates go out that left me wondering if I made the right selection. Will need to return several times to get a more complete sampling... can't wait! Recommend HIGHLY!

The food was ... as always ... amazing! The steak & potatoes are a regular staple & done exactly right. This month they're featuring New Orleans, so we also tried the gumbo - which was fantastic! The bartenders also make a mean Old Fashioned!
Alfonso Vargas
What a great place! Super friendly staff, great food, and huge portions... The hardest part was trying not to go everyday.
Pamela Marie Faulkner
Great, well made breakfast. Love those seasoned hash browns! Even though it was a busy packed Saturday brunch we got seated in 15-20 min. And served quickly too! Friendly staff.
Fred Freeman
Have been here several times, most recently last night. Keep waiting to get the meal that disappoints. Hasn't happened. Always the best food in town.
Jonny
We were looking for a brunch spot and let our Seattle friends pick. They choose 5 Spot, an old school American diner that changes their menu theme every four months. The theme when we visited was New Orleans/southern food. We dropped in on a Saturday (around 12:30pm) and it was busy. Lucky for us, we didn’t have to wait and were seated immediately. The inside is quite spacious and service is good. Our waiter was on the ball and continuously came by to refill waters.

This is a classic American diner to grab brunch or a late night meal. A nice cozy place to catch up with friends over an American menu.<br/><br/>The best thing about this place - one section of their menu changes every quarter. They've been in business for more than 20 years and every quarter they've had a unique menu based on different cities/locations. And the best part - they've not repeated a menu!<br/><br/>Try their Honey-glazed Chicken, Chicken & Waffles, and breakfast combo.

Very generous portions for all of 4 breakfast. Eggs Benedict, breakfast burrito and traditional. Yummy dense biscuits and mouth watering bacon. An easy walk in the Queen Anne area. Had to wait for 20 minutes on Sunday morning around 10:15.
Cori Theroux
The ham and cheese scramble was perfectly made. The eggs were fluffy. The local ham had the right amount of salt and very tender. The hash browns had a delicious seasoning on them. We ordered a strawberry coffee cake to go. It was a bit too dry on one end and a bit too wet on the other. The taste was good, but the baking needs work.
Mr. Warren
Everything is tasty. Hard to find a bad dish. Focus is diner/ comfort / Seattle style -- nice and predictable. One knock: Kitchen ventilation weak -- you go home with kitchen odors in your clothes. Still worth it. :)

I was recently there because I wanted a guaranteed good plate that wasn't in the demilitarized zone of downtown Seattle during tourist season. Their Cuban food menu was in use and I had a Cuban style breakfast that was first rate.  The only issue was that they could probably benefit from a local market in Havana or Miami for some unique flavors that are currently very close but not perfect. Not an issue but a request would be to have more of their specialty menu items available for lunch or breakfast. <br/><br/>Good spot, good neighborhood, etc. I'll be back.
Victoria Gallardo
It was such delicious and fresh food. And the service was great! It took a little longer than expected to get the food, but when it was set down in front of us, it was all worth it! I would most definitely go again!
FoodieFamily
Pseudo-Poutine. Described on the menu as fries "topped with Vermont Cabot sharp cheddar" (with the usual gravy and the variation of bacon) it was actually topped with a white sauce that might have contained said cheese. Unfortunately another 5 Spot rendition that fails to make the grade.
John
Excellent service and food makes this place a restaurant to return for breakfast. I had the cinnamon swirl French toast with side of bacon. Amazing especially with their homemade caramel sauce. It's like eating dessert for a meal. My wife had the scramble with hash brown (really good) and biscuit and gravy. An excellent meal.

Favorite Breakfast Spot. Heading into the 5 Spot is like visiting a surprise party - a new themed menu is there every time I go! Visiting the menu is always a pleasurable experience. My (our) group always chooses different items and then will hold forks over the table exchanging best bites. It's a win-win for everyone every time. Current favorite is the Red Flannel Hash. The beets put the "red" in the red flannel, and it's fantastic.
MagoGuide
We walked over to the 5 Spot diner in Queen Anne where they serve breakfast until 3 PM and alcohol until closing time or 2 AM whichever comes first (MagoGuide is unlike to find out, but if you do please let us know). The only reason Guy Fieri has not tried to ruin this place is that Rachel Ray got here first, but when we showed up around 1:30 PM there were no signs of Food Network groupies. In fact we virtually had the place to ourselves.

I should mention the inspiration behind the name "the 5 spot"--- this local hot spot changes menus and theme 5 times a year. So, if you go in the spring you may find yourself in a mexican place, but go again in the fall and it might be a BBQ paradise. Pretty cool!

I still maintain that Seattle doesn’t do breakfast very well. Breakfast places here that have consistently long lines – Portage Bay, Macrina Bakery and 5 Spot are at best second tier breakfast places in Melbourne. Or maybe I’m looking back with rose-coloured glasses? At any rate I’ve found breakfast/brunch in Seattle ranges from mediocre to good. I think 5 Spot is good but nothing mindblowing – though it’s so cheap I’d definitely go back to try something else.
Thursday Night Bites
They have a good variety of options including some less traditional breakfast choices, but it’s also very easy to find everything you’d expect to see on an American breakfast menu.

During the last long weekend, KoreanGirl, TaiwaneseGirl, CanuckGirl and I headed down back to Seattle for a day. We wanted to try some more jaw dropping restaurants as well as to get a little bit of shopping done. Our first stop was at 5 Spot Restaurant. We arrived about 2 hours too early since I really gunned it down the highway at 160 km. Since there was no one on the roads and nothing was open, we just slept in the parking lot till it opened. 10 minutes before they opened, we started seeing a lot of people starting to line up, so we got out of the car and joined these early birds. Soon enough, the restaurant was packed. We were super excited because we didn't know what to expect. Here's a look at their menu. The water even came in jars! I started off with Green Tea ($2.50) since I need caffeine in the morning. TaiwasneseGirl had the Herbacious omelette ($8.75). It has fresh chopped herb omelette hash browns and toast. She found the omelette to be average and nothing too special. She

This French Toast was so unbelievably orangey it stopped me in mid-bite & I had to make Taylor eat some. The toast was all soft & squidgy, and completely different to Geraldine's famed version. The cherry compote was tart & delicious. The whipped cream cheese? Well, what is there to say about cream cheese that you don’t already know? A little taste of heaven.
Natasha Reed
The fried chicken drizzled in Tupelo Honey? Awesome. That made-to-order cookie dessert is on my bucket list.

So on my open free day in Seattle, I just decided to roam around. I started at Queen Anne, to have brunch at 5 Spot. I keep coming back to Queen Anne. I can’t help it, I like it! I spotted this place (yes, pun intended), when I was across the street dinin

If you want a brunch that is not just French toast or eggs Benedict or scrambled eggs with bacon, then 5 Spot is the place to go. This is the brunch place we went to on the day of our 2nd wedding anniversary. Remember I said, it was a no cooking day for m

The 5 Spot in Queen Anne is diverse as a restaurant can be, hipster Seattle eatery and friendly family dining that supports philanthropic contributors. The 5 Spot has a "roaming" menu, and at the time I ate there was current

5 Spot gets high marks for creativity, service, and ambience. Where they lose me is the heavy hand with the salt shaker.

Final Answer: Seattle Cannot Do Breakfast. Service: Slow, unattentive.<br/>Atmosphere: Loud<br/>Food: Overpriced based on portion and quality<br/><br/>If I were rating on a scale of 1-10, this would barely be a 1. Therefore, the name should be changed to 2 Spot<br/><br/>How over 1500 people rated this place favorably is beyond me, although I have to remind myself that Seattle is no way representative of America, it's values or traditions, so there you go.<br/><br/>The sausage was a bad form of the beef that comes in frozen beef and broccoli. The coffee was weak and old and the pancakes were no where near tasty, decent size or worth $8<br/><br/>I paid $8 for what would be condsidered a kids portion, $4.50 for the Asian beef equivalent and then $2.80 for coffee. $15.30 would have gotten me 15 hotcakes and 5 sides of real American sausage at good ol' Mickey D's! <br/><br/>I am in now way a fast food connoisseur, but when it comes to hot cakes and sausage, I have rarely found anything better. Simple is the best policy, especially at breakfast.<br/><br/>Thank God I am only visiting and I get back home next week. Starving for good food, good values and bang for my hard-earned, about to be extinct, thanks to Obama, dollar!

Tough Choices. I had the Boston Cream Pie Waffles, which actually didn't blow my socks off, but were still really good. But I'd definitely go back because the menu is full of really delicious- and satisfying-sounding items that I'd love to try.<br/><br/>The service was just adequate, not exceptional; and the atmosphere is very casual. A great place for breakfast/brunch after a wild night ;)

Service is top notch. We had a great and filling breakie here. Definitely get a coffee cake here. It's to die for!

No longer serves breakfast all day on weekends. "But only on weekends" said one server, as if that made being turned away on Saturday any better.

Warning about The 5 Spot. If I could I would give this place a zero. It's absolutely the worst BBQ I ever tasted in my life. My wife and I visited the 5 Spot in late January because it's in our neighborhood and is a nice Queen Anne walk. Service was at best and what we decided - just plan indifferent. When our food arrived it was cold. I smelled the BBQ and immediately noticed the odor of an accelerant and it got worse from there. One bite and it was obvious that the Chef or someone used lighter fluid to start the wood burning. It Was GROSS. I did not take another bite. I would not have served it to my dog-SERIOUSLY. Now this is the worst part-when I called my server over (who was nice by the way) to complain-she said she would take it to the Chef and make sure it was safe. Instead she took it to the nearest bus-tub and incredibly dropped it in without a word to anyone. My wife and I were shocked. One word of warning-first DON"T EAT THERE-2nd if you do decide to give it a try DO NOT complain to the General Manager Rich-he will accuse you of trying to run some scam to get free food-I swear on everything I love that he actually treated us like that. Which was embarrassing and ludicrous. If your hungry in Queen Anne skip this place you and your wallet will be much happier.

Wowzers, frankly.. The 5 Spot is, to two newly arrived Brits, everything one could possibly hope for from an American diner brunch experience. Our first visit was right after the election and the humourous art work and buzzing atmosphere made our surprisingly short wait very entertaining. The themed menu could have been a gimmick but the Ranch Hand Eggs were outstanding (caution to those not used to American size portions, it was so delicious, I finished the whole plate and could barely stand afterwards) and the Bloody Mary was exactly as I had asked for it. On the second visit, I ordered Val Verde Scramble without the sausage (vegetarian). Even though the restaurant was packed to the rafters with a queue out of the door, the waiter seemed happy to make substitutions and I may never eat scrambled egg without avocado again. Who knew? Wowzers.
Sam
Pulled Pork Sandwich!. They do a phenomenal pulled pork sandwich here. Juicy, tangy, and delicious. I also tried the honey fried chicken - some of the best fried chicken I have ever had. It tastes like they bread it with chunks of garlic, and the sweet honey sauce is so good. The prices are perhaps a little above average, but the portions are massive and the food is so tasty it's definitely worth it. Will definitely be going back.

Service is excellent. Environment very family friendly while a little small. Food is great quality!

Forgot to review 5 Spot the last time we breakfasted here, so I am making sure to do a write-up this time!<br/><br/>We hit 5 Spot about 9am this morning for breakfast. The theme is Key West, so I was expecting to find some lime-y items on the menu. I am not a huge breakfast-food fan, but I have to tell you, they had me at Coconut French Toast (griddled thick cut coconut custard dipped rustic bread, toasted coconut butter & pineapple rum caramel) - yowza! I was sold at coconut custard and coconut butter, but then I read on and saw pineapple...rum...caramel - excuse me, may I have an extra napkin? I'm drooling here. Knowing that I'd need to scale back the rest of my food intake for the day and make sure it was all protein, I gleefully ordered.<br/><br/>Side note here: couple of rough spots. Our server started off in a pretty grumpy mood. She seemed to want to challenge the hubs over some (not spilled) milk: he asked for a fat-free latte and she said they only offered 2% - in a "wanna make something of it?" tone, complete with accompanying body language - I kid you not! I was actually amused, but the hubs was not. So, he went with regular coffee. Coffees arrived, and when he looked for fake sugar on the table, there was none. Ruh-roh, strike two. He was almost desperate enough to stir in some of the marionberry preserves on the table, but our server came back and when he asked for some fake sugar, obliged. Also, when we were ready to order our server crouched down and looked at our friend on the left-hand side of the both. He was still deciding, and so we asked her to start with me, on the right-hand side of the booth. She rolled her eyes, deadpan, and scootched over to my side of the booth and took my order. Last issue: no English muffins. Our friend ordered a breakfast that came with toast, and he asked if they offered English muffins. Nope! In his words, "What breakfast place doesn't offer English muffins?" So, couple of issues there but nothing insurmountable. Honestly, once I'd had my first sip of coffee I found everything a bit amusing.<br/><br/>Back to the food!!! The coconut french toast did NOT disappoint. I SO wanted to lick the plate clean. So what if I'm vibrating slightly in my chair as I type due to the sugar rush...you wanna make something of it? HAHAHA. Hubs ordered two hard-cooked poached eggs and a fruit plate - he was disappointed as the eggs served were both runny. Other than that, good stuff.<br/><br/>Glad we made it in at 9am, as there was a line out the door when we left.

Awesome food! My husband had the biscuits and gravy, and loved them. I had the smoked salmon and cream cheese scramble and it was the best breakfast I have ever had. The hash browns were awesome too. Top it off with stumptown coffee and professionally done espresso drinks and you have a "must visit" restaurant. We will be back.
Hikerman
Best Breakfast I ever had in a restaurant. Quite surprised, when ordering eggs over medium, bacon and hash browns the worst you can expect is eggs too well done. Not the case at 5 Spot. The hash browns were the best, the eggs were perfect and the bacon slices were huge.<br/><br/>I was visiting my son in Yakima and we were in Seattle for the day. He suggested we give 5 Spot a try and I was not disappointed. Great, friendly service, very comfortable setting and the food was exceptional. When I visit again I will make another trip to the 5 Spot
Judi
Great food, value, service. Okay - so we are not from Seattle but from Denver. The restaurant prices here seem really high to us and we've spent a week trying to not feel ripped off every time we've dined out. Also, the service has seemed aloof and often downright snotty to us. None of this was the case at 5 Spot. The service was professional and warm, the food was delicious (we had the chicken quesadillas and the black bean burger), splurged on a yummy dessert (chocolate monkey) and we were able to have lunch for under $40, a first since our arrival! Hooray all around for the 5 Spot in Queen Anne, along with their sister restaurant Hi-Life in Ballard. All around an EXCELLENT choice. We'll be back!
Matt H.
Amazing little joint. One of the few places that has Crystal Sauce on the table.
Katie
5 Spot Friday!!. I've made Fridays my treat day for the best biscuit & gravy in the city! And the atmosphere is fun and friendly. They've got great specials too if you're not a biscuit fan (if that's possible)
Erick Cohn
Been going here around 19 yrs. Always pretty good. Friendly service. Often a long wait to be seated. Late night deals after 10 pm a real bargain.
Lauren K. McCool
Great food, great atmosphere, reasonable prices and friendly staff. You can't go wrong here! Their regional rotating menu along with the set menu items offer something yummy for everyone.
Mikasat
Always worth the wait!. Do not be discouraged by the wait, which is always to be expected when you go to the 5 Spot. The rotating menu keeps it exciting, but they've still got their classics for when you want an old favorite. Come hungry and leave with leftovers. Fun place to meet up with friends or recover from hanging out with your friends the night before. The only disappointment I've experienced here is when they sell out of something, which just means you need to come back again (earlier) to try it :)
Angel
Loved it! Waitress was quirky and super helpful. I was able to specialize my dinner. Food was exceptional and a lot of variety. It had a different feel and menus than traditionally seen in local restaurants.
Suganah
Ehh. Was not impresssed with their southern take on red beans and rice.. prob the worst i have tasted. But my boyfriend had a ruebuen sandwich and he was in love with it. My advicee stick to philly food or some type of sandwich
George
Loved the food, the surroundings, sports on the projector screen!
Aimee M.
We heard about the 5 spot via the Internet. The reviews were great so we decided to try it while on vaca in Seattle. The atmosphere is wonderful- the tables and wood work is vintage 50's style. The food is "off the chain" with non fancy good ole fashioned food. EXcELLENT!! The staff is friendly and helpful. 5 stars and two thumbs up.
Sophie
Good comfort food. Went to check 5 spot out after seeing it on Diners, Drive ins & Dives and really loved the food, the service and the neighborhood. Great fish tacos!!

I don't know what all the hype is about... Food was pretty average. Sure, they change it from one average regional inspiration to another but in the end, it all averages out.

What kind of breakfast place isn't open at 8am? FOR F****'S SAKE!

Deliciousness!! Breakfast was fabulous & came to our table so quickly! Loved the New Mexican decor as well.

There should be a "love it" button. This place is the only place I insist on visiting when I am in the Seattle area. With the ever changing menu and decorative theme, the dining experience is always interesting and new. Not to mention the brisket is to die for. As is the fresh baked apple pie.
WorldTraveler
What the ..! I lost most of my trust in urbanspoon. Do people confuse style, quirky, with good? I can't believe this average food is number 1 for brunch in Seattle. It is quirky style, which is cool, but the food is only mildly adventurous. After enjoying Capt Crunch pancakes in San Diego, the best they can do is cloying dulce de leche French toast? Which they misspelled. Not that good.
Natsprat
Just great!. Recently enjoyed a brunch with family at 5 Spot. Love the ambience. Niece had cobb salad and loved it. Sister had red flannel hash and loved it. I loved the ranch hand eggs. Finally, a restaurant in Seattle that reminds me of the great ones in Dallas.

Would recommend. Up beat cute diner. The food and services was great. I had the "Top of the Hill Tostado" and had to take half of it home, big servings.
Susitna Cafe'
A Neighborhood Institution.... I was introduced to the 5 Spot by a Queen Anne resident, and I come back whenever I'm in Seattle. The roaming menu keeps the continental U.S. cuisine interesting...being an Alaskan, I often order the "Simply Salmon" from the Pacific Northwest section of the menu or some other salmon selection for dinner...fresh and delicious! Several years ago, I ordered Guinness ice cream for dessert...it was sooo good I haven't forgotten it!
Firewallaby
Yes it's swarming, so expect a bit of a wait. Food is amazingly delicious with clever combinations. Ambience is artsy and bustling. Servers are accomodating but slammed - they need some bussers who are on top of things - filling coffee and water and paying attention to details like dropped napkins. Servers are too busy to run around doing refills; a different server noticed our empty coffee mugs but zipped past, coffee pot in hand - that shows a lack of teamwork that the manager should address to make this a dialed-in breakfast joint. Despite that, I still highly recommend 5 spot.
Kim From Senoia
Get there early for a seat without standing, for breakfast. Love the seasonal breakfast menu. Highly recommend if you are NOT into avaerage boring "the usual." Pumpkin pancakes were yummy and salmon scramble something or other was excellent.
QuicksilverGirl
Open late, chill atmosphere, nice waitstaff, totally yum!. I may not choose the 5 Spot for my last meal (unless it's after 10p in Seattle), but I would totally choose it for my last breakfast! Cinnamon french toast with caramel sauce?! Say no more. The buttermilk pancakes are lovely (served with real maple syrup, of course) and it's one of the few places I've found that do perfect, SHREDDED, fresh potato hashbrowns- + they're seasoned + everything. Did I mention they also have a full bar?<br/><br/>To boot, they also list some of their recipes on their website, which is great because I aspire to duplicate their gooey butter cake. I see that they have split off from Coastal Kitchen (I've been out of the loop), but I haven't noticed a change + am only sad that I've moved away from this 'hood.<br/><br/>Keeping the menu fresh with their changing themes, the 5 Spot is totally one of my faves.

Went during Oregon month. And it was just ok, probably wouldn't do it again, but worth a stop while on the hill

A big warm bun.... ...and a huge hunk of meat. The Longhorn burger is full of peppery goodness. Love it.<br/><br/>I've been there before and had the Honeystung Fried Chicken and that was good, too. But not as good as the burger. One day I'm going to get that 15 minute cookie....

Not the top spot. On our last morning in Seattle during a recent trip my wife and I tried the much touted 5 Spot for breakfast. The coffee and service were adequate. My black bean chile omelet was fine. However, the accompanying home fries were a cheesed up mass nicely browned but lacking a potato taste. My wife's coffee cake, while largely portioned, was rather vague in it's flavor profile and was degraded by the presence of some mysterious crunchies that seemed more like shell fragments than seeds. over rated and certainly over priced.

So great! Just had breakfast couldn't ask for better! We got in quickly, there was good service and fantastic food.

Great atmosphere and food was great! Had the five spot and a bloody Mary - very nice!!

Great food, great service.... The new mississippi delta menu is "slap yo mama" good... start with the hush puppies and/or hot tamales, move to the 2 meat plate, and finish with the Mud Pie.

That Hits the Spot. For more reviews such as this please go to http://www.seattledating.wordpress.com<br/><br/>At the top of Queen Anne hill, the 5 Spot, where everything Seattle seems to intersect, this "all meals of the day" place does a particularly good job with a unique breakfast meal and a menu/style that changes every month all at around $10 per person. As a plus, it's also a short walk from a great view and a number of good shopping or coffee stops.<br/><br/>As you will quickly discover by following this blog, we are big fans of breakfast. And why not? It contains all of the calories, carbs, and protein anyone could ask for…not to mention the sugar and caffeine. I also find that breakfast makes a particularly good first or second date. The interview, I mean date, can be as short or as long as you want the date to be. You get an early start, no ones feelings get hurt if you "have other plans for the day", and if you're having a good time you "know another cool place nearby".<br/><br/>The 5 Spot has a menu that changes (although the staples stick around) roughly every month and the decor changes with it. This particular period happens to be "St. Louis", so you'll see Cardinals pennants everywhere and food such as the Soulard Slinger on the menu. This dish is not for the faint hearted. With a bed of hash browns, a ladle of chili, a ration of sausage & a couple of eggs served up with cheddar cheese & green onion, you better bring your appetite. The hash browns, in particular, are very tasty and are cooked with a seasoning you won't forget. This is actually the first time I can recall having hash browns and not dousing it with ketchup and hot sauce. If breakfast isn't really your thing (I'm actually more of a late nighter myself), then you'll enjoy their Late Night Nosh going from 10:00 pm to midnight. All meals are $5 and the menu includes great comfort food like mac-n-cheese and a late lovers breakfast.<br/><br/>Aside from the great food, the location of the 5 Spot is also particularly beneficial for those looking to extend their date. In a just a short five block walk you will be treated by one of the best views Seattle has to offer. Kerry Park is the location of a very small grass field, one sculpture, a terrific view, and public binoculars to magnify the terrific view. Bring a camera! I only brought my phone…hence the not so great picture. The wall outlining the park is perfect to sit on, but don't make the mistake I did. A blanket is a must if it's cold outside. Turning into a popsicle together is not so romantic.<br/><br/>TIP Guys, if you'd really like to impress, a Trader Joe's just so happens to be on the way from the 5 Spot to the park. Use this as an opportunity to pick up fresh (and fairly inexpensive) flowers. If it's cold out, this is also a good opportunity for you to offer your jacket.<br/><br/>If you have any free time after your walk, and looking for a place to warm up or cool down, Cafe Appassionato is just a little further up Queen Anne Ave and Cafe Ladro is just down the hill. Appassionato is more of a high-end coffee shop and roaster, while Ladro is the typical Seattle staple. If you haven't been to a Ladro yet, it's time to give it a shot.<br/><br/>Happy walking and enjoy the view!

Just had one of the best breakfasts I've had in a long time. Highly recommend the Rumble in N'awlins egg scramble - deeeeeeelish!

Favorite of Locals. This restaurant was recommended by a Seattle resident. I thought the breakfast was great! Bring a big appetite.

Puerto Rican BBQ night. The poor roasted pig looked a lot like Tastebud! Anyway, great food, awesome atmosphere and friendly service. Lap it up!

Love, love, love the 5 spot!. Generous portions, gracious service. I have yet to have a bad meal at the 5 spot. The food is delicious and well worth the wait.

Has great food and a good atmesphere! If your having a craving for some amazing fried chicken 5 spot is the place to go!

The best thing in the history of ever! Long wait, but that's expected. Egg scrambles are unmatched (try the Rumble in N'awlins). We'll have to drive up from Portland everyday now, just for brunch.

Can't believe I've never reviewed the 5 Spot. Yes, it's one of my favorites. I've been coming back for 7 years now and every time I find something to surprise me - the rotating menu, the art, a special dessert. I ate one of their more standard items (brisket) and may have discovered my new favorite thing. The vanilla French toast is also to die for... Even my in-laws liked it, which happens ever so rarely. A+++ would nom again (and again, and again...)

Amazing breakfast and a great revolving menu keep this place fresh and fun.

Love it!. I love brunch here! The rotating themes are always fun. It's affordable, crazy busy, family friendly, and everyone that works there seems to enjoy themselves. It's worth the hour wait for brunch.

Best Breakfast. You can't go wrong here. The Austin menu is up now. Got the chicken fried steak. It was simply the bomb and I had to take a nap afterwards. Eggs benedict is always good. Long wait but worth it.

5 Spot- not that impressed. I've been to the 5 Spot twice; once for dinner and once for lunch. Both times it was loud and both times my servers were a bit more focused on being hip than actually concentrating on the customers seated at their tables. The kitchen was loud, and the crowd was a mix of families, and also Seattleites who spent way too much time partying from the night before.<br/><br/>For more... http://www.seattlefoodster.com/?p=424

5 Spot On. I first discovered the 5 Spot about ten years ago while still an undergrad. Some friends had recommended this gem on top of Queen Anne Hill & I have been in love with it ever since.<br/><br/>For me, I'm a big fan of easy-going Saturday/Sunday mornings. In particular - a great brunch for curing the previous night's hangover & recouping in prep for the new week ahead. Now there are a lot of descent joints around where one can do that, but the 5 Spot is the "silver bullet !"<br/><br/>Just a couple of blocks away from "Fraiser's apartment view," you walk into this joint that's flooded w/ natural light, the aroma of excellent coffee & the sounds of happy patrons & staff buzzing around.<br/><br/>Once you finally get a table (I should note, you might have a bit of a wait - depending on your party size....but the wait is worth its salt) you will find yourself in a very comfortable environment w/ interesting (fun & light-hearted) paintings & artworks on the walls.<br/><br/>These paintings are not just whatever the local artists are pawning. The artwork (still for sale) is actually representative of the menu/theme at the given time. Every few months or so, the 5 Spot changes out its menu/theme to represent a particular geographical area.<br/><br/>Some of the themes have included - Baja of California, the Gulf Coast, the Lone Star state, Iowa, South Carolina & New England.<br/><br/>The last time I was there (this past summer), the theme was Oregon! The huge paintings on the walls were of everything from great sunsets on Cannon Beach to re-interpreted The Goonie's movie posters.<br/><br/>The breakfast menu was excellent (as always). This time around, there were Oregon dishes such as:<br/><br/>Hazelnut Pear French Toast<br/>Tillamook Fields Scramble<br/>Willamette Farms Three Cheese Frittata<br/><br/>I went w/ the scramble while my friend, Andrea got the French toast and we split it up family-style. With 5 Spot's fresh, organic ingredients (from the respective locales) these breakfasts delight your taste buds & olfactory sensors better than any breakfast I've had.<br/><br/>Now then, like many hangover-curing breakfasts, you'll want to wash your hands afterwards (the Sunday Seattle P.I. & the local rag, The Stranger paper can only take so much syrupy, greasy abuse). So then, a trip to the washroom is always necessary.<br/><br/>A jaunt to the washroom at the 5 Spot is always an "experience." This time (w/ the Oregon theme), it was no let-down. While in there, I heard through the ceiling speakers - something familiar.....As I listened closely, I recognized it as the audio from the movie, The Goonies (an Astoria, OR classic). But it wasn't merely the audio playing in the washroom.....rather, it was a recording of the staff, servers & bartenders doing the dialogue & sound effects all on their own.<br/><br/>It just so happened that when I was in there, it was the reenactment of when the goonies have to play the bones to proceed through the caves on their way to the treasure:<br/><br/>Andy : I can't tell... if it's an "A sharp" or if it's a "B flat"!<br/>Mikey : Heh, if you hit the wrong note, we'll all "B flat!" <br/><br/>In conclusion....if you're in Seattle and want the best breakfast you've ever had, get up on Queen Anne Hill and into the 5 Spot. <br/><br/>Oh, in addition....if that wasn't enough to entice - the fully stocked bar is excellent as well (day or night).

Last day of the Oregon menu!. Wow! Awesome food, went out with my mother and sisters, last night of the Oregon menu was up. It was great, instead of traditional glasses we drank from jars which was an interesting twist. Our waitress was really friendly and cracked quite a few jokes with us whenever she came over, and the atmosphere was great! The food came quick and was absolutely delicious, I can recommend the Honey-Stung Chicken to anyone!

Great choice for Queen Anne. I'm new to Seattle and took a friend visiting from NYC to 5 Spot. We each had a lovely, perfectly cooked meal from their 'regional' menu - service and food were great.

5 Spot is the Bomb!. We eat here 2-3 times a year and are never disappointed. The Hazelnut Chicken was to die for this latest visit. Love the punky staff. Attitude without being jerks. We bring our children and they always enjoy themselves - the food is hearty and satisfying and the people watching keeps everyone entertained.

TURKEY!!!. Let me start by saying that I eat a lot of Turkey sandwiches (5-7 per week minimum), so it is hard to impress me. I ordered the open faced turkey sandwich and was left speechless. The turkey was freshly roasted, mash potatoes creamy, and gravy flavorful. I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. My wife had the special, a blackened chicken breast served open face with a red pepper aoili on the bun and covered with cheeese. It came with deep fried battered leeks, which we had never had. Real tasty. We also ordered the shrimp and okra app, but this can be avoided as it is really just a plate of deep fried stuff.
Nite
Mmmm.... I went there couple weeks ago for a family brunch. Very child friendly. Good service, even though they were a little crowded on sunday morning. Food was excellent even if there was a lot of it. Make sure to determine how much food is in one dish because we ended up with way too much food. We had french toast, bacon, sausages, hash browns and an omelette. The hash browns was made of real potatoes and not frozen ones reheated served at many other diners which proves how committed they are to real food.

Good for late night munchies.... I've only been here for the late night happy hour menu, which I think is after ten. A selected menu, each item five bucks each. Rice and beans and mac n cheese my fav. They also have Hawaiian Punch, which always puts a smile on my face.

Consistently average with great hash browns. I've been here dozens of times as it is close by. The two best dishes on the menu are the yogurt parfait and the hash browns (crisp on the outside and peppery on the inside). Vita coffee.<br/><br/>The rotating menu and everything else is solidly mediocre. You will probably never get a great dish, but it will seldom be poor quality, either.<br/><br/>They have an inexpensive (though fatty) late night menu.

Best breakfast. Mmmm....

Didn't care for menu... We've been to this place before only for breakfast (which I thought was ok) but ended up going there last night when we realized Betty's up the street was closed.<br/><br/>hated the limited menu with waaaay too much pork..yuck!<br/><br/>I ended up taking my food back and didn't even like what i got in return.<br/><br/>Tried the shrimp and okra..rubberery texture<br/>Husband got the fried chicken which had no flavor.<br/><br/>We both ended up pretty nauseous on the ride home.<br/><br/>If you decide to go stick with breakfast.

Hit and miss. The rotating menu at times is inventive and delicious, but other times...not so much. the last time we went, they featured hawaiian cuisine. i had the slow roasted pork with slaw and rice. the pork was extremely spicy, even for asian taste buds. i thought: "maybe hawaiian food is this hot." but when i went to kona kicthen a few months later, i finally discovered what i had been missing. the pork is suppose to have a slow, complex flavor. not qiuck and spicy. <br/><br/>i have discovered that their main menu is much better than the rotating menu. the chicken is good and most of the breakfast items are delicious. <br/><br/>the wait staff can sometimes be pretentious. it's first come first serve for some of the barstool seats, but not all of them. it's hard for newcomers to know which ones they cane sit at w/o having to be on the wait list.

Chow Foods always hits the spot. I love the 5 Spot. I don't eat out that often so I really appreciate that their menu rotates so everytime i come back there's something new. Usually everything on the rotating menu is amazing. There are always special drinks for the rotating menu, alcoholic and non-alcoholic, that are really good and fun. I have to say the desserts here could use a little help, but the "standard" menu is great and has a good selection of american comfort foods. If you have a chance, sit at the bar. The bartender is hilarious and really nice.

Okay. Food is constantly rotating for a variety of interesting themed menus. And they're all done...okay. Decent brunch.
