Buffalo Tap

Buffalo Tap is your perfect "casual" and "relaxing" place to meet up with friends or family and eat "feel good" Minnesota favorites, perhaps watch a game, or drink a few craft beers from their extensive list of regional and local beers. I have met clients here 4 or 5 times over the past two years. The location is perfect for me - just off of Highway 13 in Savage. Super easy access from the main road. The building has been here for a long time, and is nestled into a small creek that runs right next to the Buffalo Tap. It has an enormous parking lot. Inside, the restaurant bar is divided by cozy stone partitions, and each room is different in decor from the others. I love love the large "nook" table that holds like 8 people tucked into a small "porch" that juts out of the side of the Tap. It has windows all around, and the creek is just right there next to your table. The waiters and waitresses are efficient and attentive. Most are "well seasoned" staff, having been working at the Tap for many, many years. Orders were brought to the table quickly and efficiently. Food is traditional "feel good" food, and all the burgers I have tried have been fantastic. I especially love the "Juicy Lucy", featuring lots of cheese and is enormous. I've also enjoyed the "Diablo" burger, with jalapeno peppers and BBQ sauce. I also love their wings when drinking from their large beer menu. An easy 5-star review for Buffalo Tap. Highlights are the extensive beer menu, casual and comfortable seating and bar areas, easy location to Highway 13, and the experienced and efficient staff.

Dinner out on patio meets with hostile host. Wanted to sit outside in patio area which only one table was occupied. Nice evening breezy. Host person who sat us was really rude like we were bothering her for coming to eat dinner and she didn’t hold back in letting us know she was unwelcoming. We almost left after she snapped loudly at us about putting the umbrella up. It was a polite question asking if it was okay to put it up. Table was dirty covered in drink rings and other sticky material. Person taking our order was nice and cleaned table. The whole point of going out is to have a relaxing meal and drink. Instead we were unwelcomed guests from the get go and it was definitely made clear we were not welcome by the first person who should be welcoming. Three women came to sit in patio about 25 minutes after we got seated and got same hostile treatment from host woman and these three women walked out and left. After being seated for 35 minutes we finally got our drinks. Ordered but still waiting. Very slow night and few cars and no one else now outside. Drink glasses empty. Horrible service. I don’t understand how you offer outside seating and then treat customers unwelcome for utilizing the patio. We have gone to buffalo tap for takeout and outdoor seating for the past two years supporting them and other local businesses during the pandemic. Unfortunately it seems the customer service and regular supporting customers are not wanted. I guess times are do good now the staff can be hostile. So we’ll go elsewhere. A host/hostess is the first and last person you often see and interface with. If this is who Buffalo tap wants as their representative well we won’t be back. Our patronage of four or five times a month is not even worth courtesy of basic civility. The wait person told us it was slow. Well yes it is because of nastiness by staff.

One of my favorite places in Minnesota and definitely the best spot south of the river. The wings are so good. I had bbq and teriyaki wings and they were cooked to perfection. All were tender and came right off the bone. I also got the Old Wisconsin Juicy Lucy and loved it. It’s one of the best juicy Lucy’s in the state. Highly recommend. The wait staff was also super good. They were all so nice and inviting.

Wow, $73.00 for 3 burgers that were burned, dry and had wilted lettuce, cold, plain "crinkle fries" (not seasoned like we thought we were getting) and 6 HARD, dry, disappointing half wings that were advertised as "whole wings", but weren't. At first we were like okay this looks good except for the wings. Then, saw the lettuce and then took a bite, took off the bun to find a very well done (not medium well) burger. I mean come on...if you need 40 minutes to make a good Juicy Lucy then do it right. Not only is the 7/8 club and Matt's better they out run you with the price. Added a $5 tip for a take out just because and had we seen what we were getting first it wouldn't have been accepted and there wouldn't have been a tip. Sure, the guy taking the order didn't make the food, but he packed it and sold it to us as edible. Have this place a 1 star for obvious reasons. Won't be back.

They may have the best burgers in the south metro. Cheese curds are something that will make your mouth explode with delight. Considering the size of the burgers, prices are reasonable. 1919 on tap as well to make sure your cheat day is complete. The only downside is the way the inside is set up. Lots of stairs and partitions. It's like they remodeled 5 times without thinking they would need any extra space again. It does add to the feel of the place though. Not a huge deal.
